Talk about Table Top RPG's you play, would like to, or would like to hear about.

I like D&D, and Shadowrun but my favorite is Star Wars the RPG by West End Games.

They don't print this anymore and I believe the rights were taken up by Wizards of the Coast who reformed the game into the 20d D&D ver 3.0 die system.

Which is bogus! The D6 style was way more free flowing with a lot more pizzazz. (I wonder if Word Bump would recognize that one?)

Oh how I wish I could find the books I need. *sits on Santa's knee and puts on the wittle doe eyes*

I have played all of those games, axcept "Big eyes, Small mouth", and I have to say..although they have all been fun, Star Wars has been the most fun thus far. and the 6D system does seem to work out just fine. I don't know why anyone would need to change it to a 20D game, that just seems to make things more complex.

I wish to add my experience with the Star Wars 20d system,
As far as the group that I played/am playing with, we are completely redefining some of the points within the system, such as defining the force, as a psyonic power, this includes all of the feats associated with, which we have borrowed the D&D ver. 3.5 section on it, also have fixed the physics related with starships, such as the escape from Hoth, with the system they had in place it would have taken Luke 12 hours just to get to where the star destroyers were in orbit, which is ludecrous for if that is how long it would take him, his ship would never break the pull of gravity.
Though this is something fuelled by the Game Master and a few other players, including myself, the Game Master of which is highly educated and likes things to be accurate, at least to an extent. Most of the alterations on certain force powers was a result of my charactor, a Mirilukese, which have no eyes and perceve the universe through the force, how the Game master redefined this ability, force sight, was that my charactor used the force to see just into the very near future, so close in fact that by the time my brain interpereted the stimuli it was the present and therefor could be acted upon as if I had percieved it with eyes, it is not finalized though for we are still altering some of the more finer points of it.

Yeah I make up for my small uneducated brain by DM'ing in a free flowing environment that allows multipule players to take the helm of Master of Games, but I would love it if I had someone on the team with one of those ginormous lobes with and obsesive compulsive dissorder that forced him to fill out every detail. I'd make him my slave and force him to draw out character sheets for everyone in his spare time among other menial tasks that the less fortunate in brain mater would otherwise find to be to tedious for their gruby inferior minds.

What your DM did in fixing those problems with space ships and the physics of hyperspace travel (or was it just regular space travel either way) is just another example of what can be so damn cool about the role playing community!

Maybe we can start discussing role play ethics, game master styles, and what we think are the better ways to handle game sessions.

Yes, I have several great examples of DM's one of which has been doing a session once a week every saturday, for the past 30 someodd years. The Star Wars DM, which worked at Novell for some years, and I have something to compare them with, beginning DM's, so I have seen the entire spectrum of DM's.

I'm a big fan of D&D, but unfortunately for me, the group of friends that I hang out with either don't play or can't keep a story going for more than a month. I've also played Werewolf: The Apocalype...really fun, but you HAVE to work together. *sigh* No one I know can RP as a team, either lol.

Yes they are all out for themselves, lone wolfs in a world of monsters...
Which one must be much higher level than need be if they would just join a group and play it safe...

I have a hard time playing in and running games where one of the players is determined to be the center of attention all the time. I wish they would realize that the players are responsible for moving the story along just as much as the Game Master is!

I've been fortunate enough to find two groups in my life that worked very well together, and I miss playing with them terribly!

Right now, one of my friends is starting up a campaign.... I think. Well, he says he is....but he's very flaky. gonk I have this feeling that as soon as we all finish our characters and start the first session, he's never going to pick it up again.

I have been in some of those groups, but now I don't have a means by which I can play with them... crying . I have actually seen a gaming group that delt with those kind of players, but normally they died the most out of any other group. Before I joined one of the good role playing groups, there was one player that killed 23 of his own charactors (one by one, him playing them all sequentially and not at the same time as some players do) in one gaming session. That I believe is the record for most charactors dieing in a session. I have also heard of a game master that if the party was not half dead two hours into it she wasn't trying hard enough.

When I think of tabletop games, I think of Warhammer, Lord of the Rings strategy game, etc, rather than DnD, etc, even though I'm trying to find a decent group of gamers for regular games of DnD.

I'm interested in starting games online, on gaia, using the dice rolling system. Of DnD that is. I'm more than happy to be a PC or DM.

I would play, but we would need information from all of the people who want to play.
I prefer to be a player, than a GM.
