I need help finding 2 recent events that explain it's ok for the U.S. to go over to other countries and get into their issues.

the topic thing is

To What extent do you agree or disagree that the U.S. should be criticized for its policies/actions as a world power?
I chose disagree.
oh and i need to know by the end of today so i can finish my paper that's due tomorrow

Hmm.. how recent are we talking? US Foreign policy has been dominated by 9/11 and the war in Iraq recently.

If you can stretch it that far, the intervention in Bosnia is usually considered a good thing.

Apart from that it should be easy enough to talk about how liberating Iraq from an oppressive dictator is a good thing, especially for the minority groups. As well as liberating the people of Afghanistan from the ultra-conservative taliban regime.

Though for Iraq, the US has taken a lot of criticism so it would be better to argue about another case if you can.

hmm... also the current circumstance in Darfur might be useful. It's not somewhere the US has actively engaged in yet, but it is an area where intervention could be argued to be a good idea. Whether militarily or politically.

Were I writing it I would go with the taliban and dahfur. That would give you an oppertunity to show a sucessful intervention, and a place where internvention would be a good thing.

Um...you can do for one recent event, you can say something about Saddam Hussein and Iraq. You can talk about how corrupt it is, because of Saddam Hussein and how we need to fix its economy.

I can't really help because I'm not a main helper, and also, I disagree with you, and if I give you any more help, it would be my biased opinion.

You should look on cnn.com or other news sites, theyll have what youre looking for. I would give you them, but it should be your work.

Heck, it doesn't even have to be about Darfur! You can talk about any country that is currently having a Civil War. You can talk about Rwanda, Sudan, anything...

Also, if Vietnam War is recent, you can talk about that.

I think you should talk about North Korea though...but it probably won't happen.

Vietnam would be a great example, but to be safe, I wouldn't go any farther back than the 90's.

Now, believe me, wikipedia is a somewhat (if not completely) unreliable as a history reference, but as a daily news reference it's pretty up-to-date (thanks to BBC). For something specific, I'd suggest the Constitution of Iraq, for a wider span try a google search for "Foreign relations of the United States"
