Hey. I want to know what everyone thinks about abortion.
Basic Outline:
What is your stance on abortion? Why do you feel that way about abortion? Some facts to back up your opinion would help as well. Dont Flame.. Its worthless.
If you feel it should be allowed, at which stages should it not be allowed? 2 months, 4 months, 6 months 8 months or do you think it should be allowed all the way?

The world is already has way too many people in it, and babies still inside the mother usually can't support themselves. Until near birth, they aren't even a true human yet (in my opinion). So when you take away it's life (which is only possible because of the mother), you're not taking away much at that point. Many people have accidents and become pregnant when they can't support a baby, and that leads to a bunch of bad events. It's much better to get an abortion.
Zomin, what month do you think an abortion should be allowed?

I believe that it is the mother's choice fully but at around 8 months a fetus starts to gain conciousness and therefore becomes a human. At that point is when i would say it should be highly suggested that they not do it and that they consider other ooptions. I am unsure as to whether I would ban it though because I still do not believe it is our right to stop the mothers because they have the closest bond with the child not us.

A young child (that is born) cant support itself does that mean that we should kill it? I still dont think that I have the right to stop them because mothers have the closest bond with the children not us bystanders.

Let's change that to if it was out of the mother, and it couldn't be supported by it being fed, the only way to support it would be for it to be in the mother.

Wow. I am pro-choice, by the way.
Usually, most of the people who are pro-life tend to be male, or older people, because they do not exactly have to support the pile of molecules that make up an annoying, self-centered, useless, and worthless child.
And, old people don't know a thing about today's world. They are pro-life because they are religious conformist oafs who think killing a pile of bovine fecal matter is a sin.
Also, one must take into consideration teenage pregnancy.
There are extremely stupid and obnoxious teenagers who aimlessly have sex with whom they believe is their "life-mate". Sometimes, though, the person who they have sex with may leave them for having this disgusting pile of molecules. They are extremely stupid. Also, you ask till what month this is appropriate. I ask you this: What if a woman's "life-mate" leaves her while she is in her 9th month? What if he also promised her that he'd help her take care of the pile of scum that's overpopulating the earth?
Exactly.
Also, if a woman is not ready to take care of a tiny little scum bag, she should either get an abortion or kick the baby into a dumpster. The latter is a joke, if you did not know.
Stupid, simpleton women and idiot men who have no futures because they have sex and get pregnant...
They need to die. They're already overpopulating the earth...
I despise teenage pregnancy.
Yes, I am a biased freak. Go me. It is my birthday. It is my birthday. It is my birthday. Go me. Whoo hoo.

I'm fully agaisnt, it's bad to kill people, but it's even worse and cruel to kill something that hasn't experienced 'life', poor things...

I am prochoice, with few limits. Almost none in fact.
We can ignore whther the foetus can be considered human or not, the matter is irrelevant.
If the foetus is not human until birth, then aborting it is simply excising an unwanted piece of tissue. If the foetus is human befor that, then no human has an innate right to leech their life off another person against their will. In fact in no other case would we even consider allowing that, no matter if the person leeching life off the other was dieing or not.
And do not forget that it's not a simple choice of killing the foetus or not.
One must consider that the intent is not to kill the foetus, that is a sideeffect of the main point. Removing an unwanted pregnancy. Pregnancy has some massive social, medical, financial, career, and mental effects. Even with the best modern medicine can offer, women still die every year in childbirth. Keeping all this in mind, the "pro-life" people are not simply trying to save the life of a poor little baby. They are actively denying a woman the right to personal bodily integrity. They are denying her the right to choose what to do with her body, the right to choose whether to risk her life for that of another, the right to choose to undergo all the risks associated with pregnancy and childbirth.
During the later months of pregnancy it's possible that a child can survive outside the womb, much like a premature birth. In that case I would prefer that the woman gets a cesarian section, and removes it in that manner, then puts it up for adoption. But I could never advocate forcing a woman to choose that.
And that is the crux of this issue. it's not a matter of "pro-life" and "pro-choice". it's a matter of "Pro-choice" and "Anti-choice". Being pro-choice means that I wish everyone have the right to make those decision for themselves. the anti-choice people have already made that choice, but they go further, and wish to impose their choice on other people.
One should also look at the social costs and benefits to this. Abortions will happen, no matter if they are legal or not. And it would be a much better thing if they were to happen in a legal and safe environment. The mother will have had to go through a lot already, bringing charges against her would do no one any good.

I think abortion should be aginst the law bcuz it IS murder! anyone who aborts should at least get 3 years in jail. Its the womans fault for getting pregnant, if she was doing it safley she wouldnt have this problem.

Orange_Dream24 I think abortion should be aginst the law bcuz it IS murder! Not under the legal definition of murder. Orange_Dream24 anyone who aborts should at least get 3 years in jail. For what? The law does not require that anyone person must allow another to leech off their life for 9 months. So... why? Orange_Dream24 Its the woman's fault for getting pregnant, if she was doing it safely she wouldn't have this problem. Safe sex is a myth, birth control measure reduce the risk, they do not eliminate it. There is also the issue of people lieing about being infertile, lieing about birth control measures, using them wrongly, or simply raping the woman. You seem to be advocating the use of pregnancy as punishment for women who, in your opinion, have unsafe sex... That is all pregnancy is to you?

unless you made no effort to use protection and were aware of the consequences, pregnancy is NOT your fault. nobody has control over their sex cells. >__> it irks me when people say, ''it's her fault she got pregnant.'' not only does faulty birth control exist, but so does ignorance, unfortunately.
not that i'm saying women who had unprotected sex don't deserve an abortion. if you're irresponsible with your OWN body, why on earth should you be forced to birth a kid. >___>
we learned about early theories of inheritance in my biology class, and one of them was that within each sperm is a tiny but fully developed baby. and i seriously think this is the type of image some pro-lifers get in their minds when they hear the word 'fetus' or 'embryo'
i just favor the mother having control over her pregnancy over the potential life of an embryo. i mean, it doesn't even have a brain or heart during the majority of the legal time period to get an abortion, if i remember correctly. and, to be in before, ''following that logic, it would be okay to kill someone in a coma.'' no, because you can't compare the two fairly. one is still in way early stages of development and doesn't even have the same type of functionality that a person in a coma does. it's completely different. not to mention, the person in a coma is not inside ur uterus, soakin up ur nutrientz.

I think that abortion is fundamentally wrong. Yes, I used the word fundamental, and yes, I am a 'conservative'.
I believe that the only thing that can come out of a male and female human having sex is a human, not a parasite. Just to get that out of the way. Just because it shares some similarities does not mean that they are the same thing. Similar does not equal same. A fetus has distinctly non-parasitic qualities that discount it as a parasite.
I think that it is not the woman's 'fault' that she got pregnant but she is directly responsible. Getting pregnant is not bad, and the term 'fault' implies that. I think that it is her choice to have sex, protected or otherwise, but it is not her choice to remove a life from this world. She can do whatever she wants to herself, but it should not be in her power to kill her own child. To me, a woman killed a fetus is the same as a woman killing her 5 year old child.
Even though the legal system allows abortion, it still has a law that says if you kill a pregnant woman, it is not a homicide, but a double homicide. Two lives are taken.
I don't like how many conservatives protest abortion by going to the clinic and yelling at the women. Right now those women need help and support, not a yelling mob. A woman does not have to keep the child. She can put it up for adoption, not kill it.
It is her responsibility. I think that when a woman goes on about how it's her body and that she can do whatever she wants to it is a way of justifying her own irresponsibility. It may be her body but it is also the body of someone else. A little person who is too weak to fight for him or herself.
Agree with me, disagree, refute me, whatever. This is where I stand and this is where I stay.
