A curious thing happened tonight. I was attending a reading for one of my classes and the author in question began to discuss some of his influences for his book, suddenly a very familliar name come up: Sebald. Needless to say, my ear perked up and began to take notes. biggrin

The author went on to say that Sebald's work spoke to the theme of the past not being able to be recouperated which was accented by seemingly randomly placed indistinct black and white photos within his novels. Anyone else reminded of the format of TUA?

That's really neat, especially since you got to hear about it firsthand. 3nodding Sounds just like TUA..

Edit: I'm incredibly stupid.. I had to read an excerpt from one of Sebald's novels called Emigrants for my European History class. I never remembered his name or got the connection (woops). The part that I read didn't have any photographs, but it was really well written. whee
