(Note: DO NOT POST IN THIS!!!!!!) Rping evolution... First off before we get to rping you have to realize the difference between illiterate and literate rpers... 3nodding I see rping in a form of leveling up (Kinda like rpg... xd ) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Rping levels: ==== You start out at ---> Lv. 1 = Newb/noob/newbie/etc... Usually at this level the rper types like this: Yo wat up i like ur avi. Usually at this level the rper doesn't really move forward, they type like above and are frowned upon by a lot of people, most of the time they can't join threads because of this. A lot of the times they'll randomly post in threads insulting it or make fun of it, sometimes even post a response to something not even aware that what there doing is not needed. Other times they'll ask for donations, some times people will give them donations but a lot of the time the person is usually reported for randomly posting or spamming. Because not a lot of people are willing to help new rpers, Lv 1 rpers first experiances aren't pretty ones... ==== ----> Lv 2 = Rper/Random poster/ bar patrant... -At this level, people have learned to use these * * to show motion and other stuff. Usually there are 3 or more ways someone can move from this: Either become an rper and strive to improve your posts by typing better: *I take a few steps forward and look around, keeping a grip on my sword* (Sometimes they'll talk in first or third person view 1st person: I, my 3rd person: Usage of character name instead of using I or my...) Of course theres still A LOT of improvement needed. But they've taken there first steps to literate rping. Or the first steps to being a complete jackass... stare ...In every rp you'll have that one person who pisses you off just by the style of rping they use. And if they don't follow the character format. Even when a thread creator tells them politely to alter some of their profile than they respond with an insult saying there not changing there profile and that rules were meant to be broken or some dumb s**t like that, than you have to kick their a** because they don't listen... stare -Or the much hated random poster also known as the Jackass, Fu**tards, and other foul names. Usually they type horribly and go into random threads and post dumbass stuff just to annoy people, a lot of the times they'll ruin the moods of rping: Ex. Say you and another character are in a romantic moment or something than suddenly a random poster comes out of nowhere, and does something stupid to ruin the mood like kiss one of the characters randomly or other stupid stuff. (In truth if I see any of this than that person will be banned) Rarely a random poster is actually a misguided poster wanting to rp but not really sure how to do so, so it's common courtesy first to tell ask them politely if they read everything on the front page and than ask them if they know how to rp...Than help them and instruct them on the basics of rping... -Bar Patrant, usually they go into the Gaia commerce and just go to bar/hotel/etc threads to talk with other people. Basically there like rpers but slightly different because they prefer to talk to everyone... =================== ------> Lv. 3 = Thread creator/Rping Novice (or some other stupid name like that... X______________X )
-At this level the person knows enough to create there first threads. Usually they don't always include a good story, some rules to be followed (Usually the number of rules depends on a person's personality, some rules are unwritten because there common sense...) Usually the first threads made die after a while or don't even pick up off the ground... -Rping Novice is what I call people who are rping in their first thread and are able to rp nearly decently, they sometimes do one liners but sometimes they do really long posts. Usually they have their character follow around other characters so they have someone to talk to and than when they get off-line and log back in they usually just place there character near another character even when it's completely immpossible Ex. Memory posts, usually a character will do this sometimes involving another character with permission than the rping novice will place there character in the memory post without permission. Also occasionaly they are able to understand a story but usually try to manipulate the story so it reflects around there character a little more, usually this gets the thread creator mad especially when they have a predetermined story in mind...Than theres an arguement about how someone thinks the thread should be run. Which usually ends in reporting or thread banning. Sometimes they'll want attention so they do posts and expect people to respond to them, typing in OOC... ((Hey, anyone gonna respond to my post...?)) Sometimes especially for people in the story it will be difficult to respond to the post because they might be busy or not have enough information. They are able to write profiles but sometimes it'll not be so good... ========================== -------> Lv. 4 = Thread Crusader/Rping Knight/Character Sage...
-Thread Crusader is a term I like to use for someone whose able to create a thread with a predetermined story and plot, as well as smart rules, good profile setup, updates, and intros. They don't use premades but are able to get to the story in mind rather than pointlessly post, occasionally they'll have writer's block and pointlessly post to buy some time or trying to make a transition from one point to another... -Rping Knight, they are able to join any thread they wish and acurately create a character that they can live with for the duration of the rp, sometimes they'll kill off their character when they can't rp anymore or for a certain plot twist that was asked by the Thread Crusader. The Rping Knight is about Semi-literate meaning that they do occasionally make some spelling errors but they can type accurately and really show that the character being played has emotions and can fight... -Character Sage, a term I use for people who are able to play multiple characters and still keep up with the story, usually they can type fast and write long posts because of their many characters. There basically the same thing as Rping Knights except that they can play more than one character and not have a problem with it... ====================== ---------> Lv 5 = Thread Paladin/Rping Lord Knight/Character Wizard
Close to becomming a master the Thread Paladin is able to make threads with a predetermined story and many details so as not to raise many questions, they can make premades to get to the story plot and also use made-up characters so they can still get to their goals, they are also able to let other characters find out things in the rp and let other characters be just as important as their own... -Rping Lord Knight (RAGNAROK... xd ), are able to use their character in an a literate way and have absolutely no problems when it comes to rping. They understand that their character is not invincible and can be beaten by other enemies, and they don't rush into battle wherever theres a fight. They pay attention to posts and can post by themselves either until their character can get into the story or until a certain moment, they have great entrances and don't get a lame entrance like: follows silentely behind them... They are also not annoying, they don't ask to fight anyone whose in a fight and can understand between fights that can be joined and personal one on one fights. Also their character profiles are awesome!!!!! whee (Personally I enjoy reading awesome and detailed bios... whee ) There absolutely completely comftorable with their character and don't change them around because they saw an anime and want to change their character to that... -Character Wizard, every bit as literate as an rping Lord Knight but can play as many characters as needed, wether it be 3, 7, or even 15. If required they will play as many characters as needed... ===================== --------------> Lv. 6 = Master of rping...
This person has nearly completely mastered rping and are able to create a literate thread, follow their own rules, post awesomely, have awesome premades and profiles, able to be lenient and understanding to all rpers including lv. 1 rpers. If someones interested in rping they can instruct them with the basics, they play all the premades until they have permenant masters and can make a thread prosper even with few members... ==================== ------------> Lv. 7 = Lord of the rping world... (I haven't met many people who can reach this level...)
This person is completely literate, able to create a surviving thread/guild/etc and can accurately deal with any problem that comes up, even with plot twists. These rpers are the best of the best, they constantly come to threads and post awesome and incredibly detailed posts nearly all the time. There also on a lot of the time and know the limitations of the TOS set by the forum moderators. They can rp with one person in a thread if neccesary to make a thread survive and can recruit people to threads that they know will join instead of randomly pming people...

Character profiles...
Anyone can come up with a decent story, rules, and plot, but what about profiles...? .-. Usually you'll have someone who decides to do a half-assed job when it comes to making a profile. For example... ----- If you have a character format that states: Username: Name: Age: Appearance: Personality: Bio: Special powers: Other: ---- Than you'll have someone who does something like this: Username: Rper #1 Name: Rper #1 Age: ??? Appearance: My avi Personality: ??? Bio: Lives with parents. Special powers: Other: ???
See this type of profile wouldn't be accepted if I were the thread creator, of course some threads don't have profile set-ups but in my opinion a profile can tell you how literate someone is, though not all the time... X___X =============== Average profiles usually look like these:
Username: (Whats your username that you use to sign in...Do NOT state your password... stare ...someone might tell you thats required but it's not, if you see anyone asking you for your password please report them...Or avoid them...)
Name: (Pick a real name, not your actual real life name, you can if you want, but I wouldn't...You should probably pick a name that you won't outgrow. And make sure that no one else in the thread has the name, it would be annoying to pick a name and find it's already taken... crying )
Age: (Any age is good unless a certain age limit is placed by the thread creator. Note: it's not your actual age but the age of the rper, but an age for the pic or description...But please use something thats convincing, don't do something like this:
Age: 13... There is no way in the world this guy can be 13... stare )
Appearance: (Usually people will describe what the character looks like because they either don't know how to get pics or how to get it on the page, well it's actually quite simple how to get the pic.... First off you go back to a place at either the top of the page (Or wherever it says adress on the page) than type in something (ex. A name from an anime or character, or just type in anime) and than press search, you'll get a bunch of different results but what you really want to do is find the part on the page that says images, click that than you'll see a bunch of images...once you find the one you like best, first make sure it's not too big so it stretch the page than click on that pic. If you see the pic again where it says something like: See full image or a small thing at the top of the page which has a box with the picture you chose inside it. You than click on that, IF the picture shows on the screen go up to address copy the address/link than paste it in a post in whatever forum your trying to get the picture to. Than Highlight that link, go up to the top of the post box where it says: IMG (It's right under the B for bold, and above the Color choice thing...) where it says http you paste the link there and than press ENTER on your keyboard and if it goes through your pick should have these: [this box encasing the letters: IMG, than another box at the other side of the link with /IMG, sometimes a picture won't show for some reason... crying ]
Personality: (How does your character act, are they a hot head, lazy, sadistic, pacifist...etc...? A mood someone is in doesn't apply to personality...)
Race: (What species is your character, most of the time in rps it's Human, Elf, Demon, half-demon, angel, vampire, werewolf, fallen angel, etc...)
Bio: (A brief history of your character, usually this is what depends on literate or illiterate. Depending on how well the bio is put together it can tell you how good the person's rping skills are, though this is tough to determine if someone is playing a premade. Sometimes a person whose new to rping will completely steal a bio from another character in an anime...Sometimes in another rp... stare ...Though most people have no problems with copied bios from anime characters but completely copying a bio from another rper is something a completely illiterate person will do. This happens more often than you think...So watch out... ninja Side note: When creating a thread with a predetermined story, always make sure that the story is completely followed and your able to alter the story in a small way to get to the required destination, and make sure that your the only one who can time skip more than a day...)
Other: ================= Now a days people have other options and like to personalize there profiles to make them clear...
Crushes/relationships: (Usually around in a lot of threads, especially during premades which have a significant important in an rp...Like for example, a knight is in love with a princess and it turns out that the princess is the bearer of darkness that will destroy the world one day, but she must find something so she doesn't destroy the world or something and it turns out what she needed was true love or something like that...)
Abilities: (Kinda like what kind of special powers the character can do, this is usally set so that someone doesn't do an insanely powerful attack that can destroy half the world... stare )
Skills: (Usually the same thing as abilities but often it means what is your character good at...)
Weapons: (Usually if the thread creator wants to know about what kind of weapon your character carries so it's not like a FA-MAS assault rifle in medieval times... gonk )
Theme music: (This is something new that I've been trying out, it basically means that what kind of theme music best fits your character... For example, in my opinion Caim from Drakengard's theme music would be perfect with: Disturbed's Stricken/Deify/Stupified/The Game/etc... Watch you'll see...
Lets say I have a character who has had a hard past, and he's been abandonded by everyone he trusted. And he's hated and feared because he's got monster blood inside him, ran out of his own town and gained a grudge towards humans, than he falls for a girl who is human who is the only person who has ever shown him any kindness...some good theme music would be...Linkin Park's "Somewhere I belong" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2Le16BbFSw Or even Linkin Park's "Easier to Run" (Basically Linkin Park goes great with everything... xd ) Or even if you have a character who fights a lot of enemies that are thousands of times stronger than that person but they still fight anyways, the perfect theme music for that would be: "Headstrong" by Trapt...)
Often times they'll be customized profile settings for a certain rps, you should probably ask the thread creator of what it means if your not too sure...

Rping rules, how to understand them... Just about every thread has rules that needs to be followed, if there are no rules than it's probably a free-form rp where you can make up your own story, but the problem with free-form rps is that often times a character's story will contradict another characters' for example, one character can say that in this rp an evil demon threatens the land, and than the other person could say it's an evil empire, than you'll have someone say that it's dead spirits. It'll eventually become chaos where someone will eventually do something like try and destroy the world or go into space or something lame like that, which is why you need to monitor your threads to make sure you don't have any confusion, since confusion evolves into complete chaos, and before you know it your thread is completely in chaos... gonk First off the most important rules of all are the basic ones like: -ABSOLUTELY NO CYBERING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scream scream scream This is stated in Gaia TOS (Terms Of Service) that cybering is not allowed anywhere in Gaia, occasionally you'll probably have someone (Yaoi, Yuri, etc.) who comes out of nowhere and states that they like the person's character without even knowing the person and than kiss the person without warning them before hand, than before you know it when you leave they try to control your character and say that the two characters... *Can't say it...But you get the point...* And than they post it in detail...Usually that can get a thread shut down and also falls into harrasment where the person who posted the harrasement in the first place is banned from the guild/thread and the site itself... -No Godmodding, Godmodding is an old term that originally came from some games where it has GOD mode, that makes the character completely invincible. Like for example... Rper 1: Takes out sword and than charged towards Rper 2... Rper 2: Gets stabbed, than pushed the sword away and takes it out of the person's hand and cut off their head with it, instantly winning. Than their injury heals instantly... See that kind of things takes all the fun out of rping. God-like characters take all the fun out of rping and are highly unliked... evil Godmodding can also be the same as, Auto-hitting the fact of making your character able to hit any character...For example... [code:]Rper A, charged forward and slashed their sword from left to right towards Rper B[/code:] [code:]Rper B, blocks the sword with their sword and knocks it out of Rper A's hand, kicks them in the chest and than grabs their sword in the air and stabs them in the heart and lung with both swords...[/code:] See this kind of thing should not be done, Rper B was able to control what there character does, so Rper A should have just as much a right as Rper B about if they decide for their character to be hit or not. This also counts as "puppet mastering" which is basically someone controlling the movement of another rper's character... Theres also the much hated power player, basically this person is similar to godmodding except that they try to make their character appear as the most powerful and can never be hit no matter what, every character has to be hit by something eventually... -No Auto-killing, basically it says what it's about on it's own. It means don't kill someone's character without their permission first, of course some threads have this rule stating that if your dumb enough to let a fatal blow hit than your character dies... -Don't change the story, it means that if someone has a predetermined story in mind already they don't want to have to alter it every time someone does something to mess with the story. It's okay for someone to be apart of a story but not to always alter it. For example, say your in a space rp than someone says that they notice the ship is being pulled into a planet's gravity, unless you were already planning this from the beginning it's okay, but if it's for going to a certain place that can't be avoided than you should ignore that person's post about the ship about to crash into a planet when there are no planets around... stare Theres probably a lot more rules for other rps, because of a story or theme of an rp. Like when someone says that the rp is about futuristic magical stuff in space, you don't want someone to say that their character is a dragon...Unless of course it's part of a story, but you should probably read everything up to the intro before making a profile... Also, thread creators have the right to change, or alter rules as they see fit. Like if theres someone whose going around kissing random characters they might say that: No kissing characters without their permission first...Or something like that... Anyways, that about covers basic rules...I've probably missed something though...Anyways moving on to, story lines... cool PS. Some rules are unwritten because there common sense...

Intros... Not much I can really say, usually an intro states the beginning of an rp and where to start. Or when joining an rp, a powerful intro usually tells you a lot about the rping skills of the thread creator. Sometimes to put in a specific mood of how a character is feeling, theme music is wise to use... mrgreen At least thats what I do... ninja Theres a few ways to start off an intro, some pointers are like this: -Starting off with a present day post, than moving into the past to see how that all happened- First you type something dramatic at the top, you don't have to put it in italics but you can if you want. Than you put the quotation marks: "These things." Than put them in italics so it's your character saying something but it's far off in time... Than seperate the present day post, with the past post which will become your beginning post and the signal of where everyone should start off than you can go from there. ExampleQuote: =Present day= Rper A was lieing in a pool of their own blood, on a cracked floor. A small bright light was shining from the shattered roof where they fell from. A drop of water from the recent rain dripped on their cheek... "How did things turn out like this? Maybe if things were different...I could've prevented all this...? Nah, I don't regret anything...We all had some good times...and some bad times...? I remember everything just like it was yesterday..."-------------- =A while back= "I remember the day when my life changed forever, it would never be the same after that...It's strange isn't it? How one day can change someone's life so fast?"As Rper A sat down on a wall, staring off at the ocean infront of them and than turning their head towards the sky, a cool breeze blew by. They put their hand infront of their hair but still watching the sky. This peace might not last forever... usually along the course of the rp at certain moments you should place quotation marks in italics with your character speaking somewhere seperated from the real post... Example:Quote: Rper A charges towards an enemy, and clashed swords with the enemy. Parrying a sweep to their leg, Rper A dodge rolled to the enemies left side and than was pushed back by an invisible force and slammed into the wall. But as if there body were made of steel, Rper A stood from the rubble and than charged towards the enemy as the battle continued fiercly... "I can remember what I was feeling, as I fought...I wasn't fighting for glory, or for honor...but...for them."Also theres a few other ways to begin an intro post, such as making a memory post for a page or two where you type in italics, and if someone has a premade they rp the two characters meeting in the past, if it's part of their bios, sometimes things like these play for dramatic points in rps... (YAY DRAMA!!!! whee ) Also in some intros usually the thread creator will state some information on their character/the world/etc. than control their character to do something, or thinking intensly. Or even in the heat of battle or right after battle is where an intro could begin. Depends on how someone's feeling... There are of course the traditional short intros...But I tend to go for the longer ones, not that you have to...It's your character and/or rp... mrgreen

Literacy and other stuff: A lot of people will want a specific way to rp, so the basics of literary rping would be something like this: Talk using quotations: " " Just type out actions as if writing something... Use italics for thoughts... You should find some way to use OOC (Out Of Context)
Quote: "Look at me, I'm speaking!" Now I'm thinking. walks forward, up the stairs... ((I'm doing something out of context... blaugh *Throws party...*))
Usually the difference between literate and illiterate depends on typing... X__________________X Also OOC is not just: (( )) sometimes it's ( ) or even OOC: ==================
Romance between characters:
Usually people will make the mistake of liking another character and than if the character's get together the person will assume that now the two are together as bf and gf. But in truth, character personalities sometimes differ from the person playing the character, so it's not wise or a good thing to assume that your in a relationship with a user because your characters are in love or something... burning_eyes Sometimes of course people will develop relationships between users but it's highly unlikely for it to happen because of characters, so in short...Character relationships do not mean that it carries on to User Relationships... ========================
Character moments...
A lot of people think just because theres a fight going on that it's open to everyone. Some fights especially between characters or with NPC can not be joined... Taken from Bleach(And possibly another anime) "There are fights that are life and death, and fights that are pride. When someone is fighting for pride than it must not be interfered with." Thats basically implying that certain fights can't be interfered with. So...Its okay to watch at some points unless the place is inacessable, which is why it would be a good idea to read back on some previous posts before asking:
Quote: (Hey where are you guys?) If one of the characters didn't attack you than you really don't have much a reason to interfere... stare Though by being attacked by the character you have permission in order to defend yourself to fight back, so people have to be careful what they do... Also certain moments can't be interfered with either...Like for instance, if 2 characters are doing a dramatic scene thing like romance or tragedy, etc, they can't be interfered with because...Not everyone likes the 3rd wheel... evil Also it can get people pissed off when another character comes out of nowhere and starts talking to the other characters when there in the middle of something dramatic... stare ...I for one can say that certain points only require certain characters and extras aren't always needed unless asked for... ---------------------- Character moderation: Usually you must keep people interested in the story so they don't leave, but... If someone gets bored because they: -Don't get enough fights -Don't feel too important -Don't like the godmodding (FROM VILLAINS WHO AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE DEFEATED YET!!!!!!! scream ) -Too much OOC (We all get writer's block eventually...) -Rp moving too slow... Than you probably wouldn't want them in your thread because I can guarantee you people like that will DEFINATELY cause you to alter the originally planned story and also annoy you... stare
Lesson 2: Knowing what kind of people you want in your thread... Usually, a common mistake for thread creators is that they'll allow just about anyone in, sometimes thats a good idea but it's immpossible for someone to completely agree with someone's rping skills... Here are some people you should watch out for...
A) The 2nd boss: Usually this person will constantly bother you about posting, and than ask to enact there plan in your story, usually resulting in a different story than you originally planned. They'll also try to accept people into the thread without your permission. Basically, they'll act as if their the boss of the thread... Obvious signs of one is; When you bring in a big bad guy thats super powerful, than the person will say why is it this character is so powerful...? Than if one of your characters lands a punch on the bad guy, than the person will say:
Quote: ((Hey why is it that was able to smash him/her into a wall while the rest of us couldn't lay a finger on him/her?)) Than you might get into a big argument about how threads should be run... stare You should deal with this as soon as possible especially if you get more of them. You should let them know whose the boss right there and now...And that you have the power to do whatever you see fit in the rp...
B) Everywhere character... Basically this person will place there character anywhere they want. Like say that someone's character was captured by villains and than the person's character appears out of nowhere and tries to rescue that person. Even though you have a plan set out... They'll also appear anywhere there are characters and try to force a conversation with other characters... A very simple trap exists to find one; All you have to do is start a memory post with your character and one other character... If the person you suspect to be an Everywhere character posts somewhere saying there character was there somewhere, than you'll know that you have an everywhere character... Personally it's a bit immoral to ban someone from a thread because they want to do something. Though it gets annoying...A way to repel this is whenever you want to do something with only two characters involved than you should state it in big red letters in OOC stating something like:
Quote: ((Note: These few posts are NOT to be interfered with...!!!!!! Under any circumstances!!!!!!!)) That will solve your problem right there and now... 3nodding
C) Copy Rper... This one is REALLY hard to spot. Usually it's not much of a problem for most people when someone copies another character from an anime/movie/manga/etc...Since these days it's hard to come up with something original without nearly or completely copying something else you may have never heard of... xp BUT!!! It's a HUGE problem when someone will copy yours or another character's personality, powers, skills, pasts...Having a sad character past is okay but not to the extent where it looks like the person just copied and pasted your bio and altered it... stare Usually it's hard to detect when someone's copying your character's skills/powers. A way to detect them is; When your character will do something like lets say...Transform into a different form...Than the copy rper will usually copy that, alter it, and make there character have the same powers but with more power that are COMPLETE godmodding. Though transforming isn't a good example since in animes you'll nearly always find someone who transforms into something... If your character has Clairvoyance powers and constantly sees the future/past/present but usually passes out...Than the copy rper might have one of their existing characters gain that power or even at times make a new character with the same Clairvoyant powers but with complete control over it... stare Thats how you can trap them, right than you should crush them right there...By either denying that character or finding a counter strategy to keep them from copying the power. You should prepare ahead by saying in your bio your character is the only one with Clairvoyant powers... But the copy rpers are not limited to only character skills. Sometimes they'll even copy bad guy organizations... stare Like say for an example, you've created a team of villains that are constantly bothering the heroes, than the copy rper creates there own evil organization. Usually theres nothing wrong with this until the person starts saying that the evil organization is more powerful than anything and than tries to do something usually reserved to ending parts of threads... At the moment they try to interfere with the story you should just crush the bad guys with whatever means neccesary... Because I guarantee you, the thread will have many bumps in the road where it'll take longer to get to your destination and the predetermined story will become harder to fulfill...
D) The Questioner... Like it says, this person will constantly question the way your doing things in the thread. Sometimes they might even insult you and try to tell you how a thread should be run. Also they might constantly bother other characters by trying to take the story into their own hands... Usually they'll miss a few pages and ask for a summary. Occasionally it's okay for a summary if it's been over 10 pages and you haven't had time to update...But when it's been like 3 pages than don't give them a summary, they can find out on their own... Also when someone's lost in a story, they'll probably insult the person or something and than tell them to find the answer themselves... stare Normally, it's a good idea to ban them for; Disrespecting an rper...
E) The interferance... This person will constantly interfere with your predetermined story by trying to alter things: -Like trying to spark a relationship with a character who is already taken... -When a dramatic point is happening they'll interfere with it... -Doing something godmoddish/powerplayish/or even auto-hit a character... (Especially when in the rules it clearly states: Not to do any of that stuff...) -Character controling, they'll try to control what other character's say and try to force their way into the story... Basically you really shouldn't let them in your thread...It'll become annoying. An easy way to counter this is move the rp really fast when their offline to get the dramatic points in the rp moving than when their online continue the story but slower...
F) Obvious... Usually people have different views about people they want in their threads. So obvious things to watch out for are: -When you made a thread with no magic and the person says there character can use magic, at that moment you should completely REJECT the person. Though if your kind and ask them to change there profile than they give you some smart a** remark...I encourage you to beat the crap out of them than reject their profile, add them to your ignored list, and if they used bad language against you, you can report them for harrasment... -People who are excessive romancers. They'll say they have a crush on a character and constantly try to act all...Creepy and harrasing towards the character; For example, like if a character is already in love with another character than that person will come out of nowhere and starts kissing that character... Normally that wouldn't be so bad......If they weren't of the same gender and one of the characters aren't yaoi/yuri... But it's still creepy...Thats actually bannable in threads and possibly the site itself... stare -New to rping; Personally, I have no problems with them.....Most of the time. The easiest way to find one is if they just start posting in a thread and force their character where other character's are and than solve the problem right there by killing the bad guy or something... Don't be mean to them, there just new...You should state exactly what rps are and a guide to rping for dummies... X____X Though if they insult you after you tell them to change the post, than don't help them... stare ...Just ban them right there... -Flamer I had this problem in one of my guilds... 3nodding Normally, they'll write up a fake join request. Than as soon as their in they'll start bothering one or many person/people, and than use excessive and insulting language. At that time it was my crew member, he pmed me for help...So I thought it was just a little argument. So as usual I went to go negotiate. But when I saw exactly what this person posted I got so pissed off, because they had followed my crew member in ever thread and insulted them in every thread they were in. And they even asked to join one of my threads with these exact words:
Quote: ((Looks good, you bitches still accepting?)) You would do well to crush them by threatening to ban them right there and now. And don't be afraid to get out all your anger. If they quickly apologize than thats good, but if they insult you and call you a f**, don't hesitate to ban them and report them. For me, I could handle it. I just deleted the posts...But than they go and make a thread titled:
Than they try to make it look like they were a victim...I knew what my loyal members would post responses like:
Quote: ((You didn't do anything...? stare Thats bull...Anyone who reads this can tell you started it...The boss doesn't get mad over something so small unless there was something big involved...)) And that was it, unlike everyone else...I didn't give this person any extra chances. I just banned them, deleted every post they made and than when they tried to join again I turned them away... If by chance you come across someone like this, just ban and report them right there...No chances, cause I can guarantee you things will not change... ---------------------------------- Trying to keep a story going...
A lot of new thread creators eventually get bored with their story. Though no one can ever tell when it'll happen. My advice is to make sure it's a story you can stick with, if need it's okay to make minor changes though not so much where a medieval rp become a space rp (Thats actually okay if it fits in with the story) Though if your not bored with your story, than sometimes you should stall for time. And when I say that I don't mean, that just leave the rp for a while... (Because if the thread creators not there, than whats the point of staying...?) What I mean is that post something that is kind of like, personal character moments or something...? Or if you have absolutely no idea how to advance your story, heres some advice: -Go with a memory post with one or more characters, and make it last for a while... (Length is up to you) -Or do a solo memory post, a post that involves only your character but has something to do with the past/present/future/etc (alternate reality, like if the thread has to do with a character's other self in another universe or something...?) ninja -Solo fight post, something from the characters past that came back to haunt them... -A strange discovery of a plot point in an rp... Basically, think up something in your opinion is interesting. And also remember...DO NOT LET PEOPLE INTERFERE WITH THE STORY WITHOUT PERMISSION, BECAUSE YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------- Wondering why people aren't joining your thread...?
Theres possibly many or a few reasons people won't join. For me, I won't join a thread if; -The story isn't something I really like.... -The rules are too complicated or if theres a certain rule I don't like... -Profiles are too simple... -The thread is not exactly well thought out... -The rp creator is illiterate... (Literacy is BIG influence when it comes to rping, wether your literate or not could determine who joins your thread) Occasionally, the good rpers will not see the thread because of the many other threads in the forums? Also, usually when someone is banned from a thread because they made a mistake on something and the thread creator banned them from the thread the person (regardless of their level of rping) might become a bit hesitant to join an rp, because getting banned is not a good experiance for many people... Or it's because they just don't like the rp...? Also, be careful. There are a lot of lazy people on the site who don't like reading, occasionally it's a good idea to have many people in an rp, but seriously... stare ...Whats more important? Quantity of rpers or Quality of posting...? ------------------------------------------------------ Whats the big deal with the size of typing thing...?
Seriously, I have absolutely no idea why this is important. Size shouldn't really matter when posting. Though some people like posting in small print, probably because it looks nicer or something...? Maybe even because it looks like theres not a lot to read. But theres still as much to read it's just in smaller print... xp But sometimes, if someone posts in small print you may be able to tell there good at rping because they can remember something like that and it's become like a second nature to them? Though it's not always true...Remember, on the internet you could lie or be sarcastic and no one can know...Until someone invents a device that reads emotions over the internet...But someone could be rich and famous when they invent a device that stabs people over the internet... xd Sometimes, posting in certain colors could also be a symbol of originallity...? I have absolutely no idea, it's just stuff people do I guess... xp But also, if your controlling multiple characters it might be a good idea to designate a certain posting color when you type someting out thats about that certain chatacter so the person reading the post can designate between the character and another character... ------------------------------------------------------ What is the significance of theme music:
Theme music is a new thing that arrived shortly. Basically if you have theme music you could make things more interesting and add to the illusion of rping. Kinda like setting a certain mood for a character or specific part...? ------------------------------ Pros and cons of a Private rp
Private rps are not exactly rare to find, but theres not a lot of them as much as free for joining rps. For starters, in private rps, you'll know that someone recognizes your rping genius if your invited. Wether you choose to join or not is up to you. The good things about private rps is, that you can invite people you want to rp and make sure that annoying person who godmods or annoys you so much that you don't want them joining your rps anymore, doesn't get in and mess up the story line, and you can have a set number of rpers and not get over fluxuated with rpers that aren't too good or are good, but very annoying people. Or if you just wanted to make a thread where you can rp with your friends than private rps are the way to go. Problem is, it still doesn't stop people from posting in the thread, mostly random posters or jackasses, but usually the thread of being reported stops them. Just make sure you type it in really big letters on the front page so they don't just stare at the front page and think it's okay to post... On the bad note, if your invited to a private rp of people you don't know. Than you don't know if the creator is a jerk themself, and a character controller. Of course you could just leave the thread, also in private rps, you not only keep out people who you wouldn't want in your rp but at the same time, you could be rejecting someone whose very good at rping and wants to join but can't because it's private, sometimes it's possible to pm the person that you REALLY want to join...And than beg them... twisted Though that might not work, it actually might eliminate the chances of even being considered into joining. Think of it this way, if you were a Shinigami in Bleach, and you knew the position of vice-captain was open, and you go up to the captain and ask to be the vice-captain and expect it to work? Why should the captain choose you? What can you do? You just barely scrapped by in joining and now you want to instant rewards? You don't just ask without knowing the person first. There is a way to join though, but it might take a while in which the thread might die by than. First find a thread their already in that someone else created, join it...And become their friend using every ounce of your rping powers. Than HOPEFULLY they'll invite you to join...? But in short, the good things of private rps: -You can choose who you want to be in the rp. -A smaller chance of random posters... -Hang around with friends you know in an rp...
Bad things about private rps: -Possibility of rejecting a GOOD rper and possible future friend or more. -Limited amount of rpers... -Possibility no one you invite will join, or leave the thread... ===================== Well now I'm pretty sure your able to manage and rp in a thread accurately. Though this'll probably be updated over time...So...good luck... mrgreen
