Okay, so I am VERY involved in the local theatre, Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy. I'm in the Christmas play right now, but I also want to try out for the next two, which are Oklahoma and Holes. But additionally, I want to stage manage something.
If I try out for Oklahoma and get a role, then my parents will NOT let me try out for Holes, because that would be 3 plays in a row. But if I don't, then the director, Jen, will get seriously mad at me because I have a totally kickin' singing voice.
What on earth should I do?

Well, I was in Oklahoma for my first musical and it was a blast. It was fun because it can handle a really big cast and everyone can get a chance on stage. Every single guy that got a part ended up with a dance solo at one point, most of our solos sucked because it was in High School, but it was fun anyways.

Personally I would shoot myself in the head if I ever had to do Oklahoma, just because some of the songs annoy me so much, but I don't know much about Holes.

It's really up to you which one you feel you want to do more. But, if you feel you can't live without either of them, attempt to talk to your mother again. Argue your point across and see what happens. Many a time my mother has threatened to pull me out of the theatre if my grades slip, so I understand the threat of parents.

Perhaps if you talk to your parents and explain to them that you are capable of handling three plays in a row, and staying on top of everything. If that doesn't work, talk to your director and explain that your parents won't let you do three in a row. Also, if you try out for one, then pick the one you're more likely to get a part in, so that you can at least be really involved in one production. (Or ask if you could stage-manage one, and perform in the other.)
