I already sort of started a gimp post for DJs in the music forum, but it got maybe 10 replies, a quick hit by Thunderfoot, then disappeared into obscurity, lost amongst the pages of babble.

So I bring the idea here: Gaia's DJs, climb out from under your rocks, turn your heads away from your crossfaders (only for a brief moment), and come together to share ideas, set-up specs, links to mix downloads, or just general commentary on the practice as a whole.

Follow this form please, when listing setups.

For example, I'm a mix DJ currently spinning on a pair of Numark TTXs. I'm using this rustic gemini mixer, the PMX-16 and I'm also feeding an old Sony tape deck and sony 5 disc cd player into my amp as well.

The TTXs have a SPDIF digital output, but my sound card doesn't have SPDIF inputs, so I've yet to put together a decent mix I can share with folks online. However, my skills are still fairly elementary, so composing a mix isn't really a priority.

If it gets to that point, I'd rather this thread not turn into a brand name debate. It's the DJ behind the tables that counts.

Even if you mix on VDJ, you might still have something to contribute or maybe something to learn.

Technics. Nice.

What model? just the old MK2s? Argh, I had an oppurtunity to snag some MK5s for just 300 more than I paid for my Numarks, but I didn't have the cash.

Let me rephrase that, it's the best thing the hip-hop culture's produced.

When People refer to rap music, they tend to refer to the MCing & DJing.

Rap as a verb refers to just the MCing.
