Day 2
Afternoon

------------------------

Minna stood looking down the medicinal isle. She was inspecting various lables of medication, as well as the price. She absent mindedly pushed her bangs aside.

~That guy was so sweet last night.~ She thought as she began placing items in her basket.

~I wonder if I'll see him again....~

Christopher hastily made his way the pharmacy area of the store, not caring how much his back was hurting anymore. Once he got what he came here for, it wouldn't matter much. Just hopefully he could find the Icy Hot pads. He scanned over the items making up each aisle. It didn't take him long to spot what he was looking over. Grinning with some satisfaction, Chris approached the pharmacy counter and purchased what would soon be his relief for his back problems for the time being.

As he began to walk away to the restrooms though, Christopher could have sworn he saw Minna out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look and froze in place immediately. It was no mistake at all... definitely Minna. Chris didn't move or speak, just stood there watching her for a moment. He noticed she was studying medications which made him wonder what she could possibly be looking for.

Eventually, he decided he should speak up as it was rude to just stare and not say a word. Plus, he could ask her if she wants to go to the river with him and the others. He took a few steps toward her and announced his presence to her, "Well this is a most coincidental meeting. What brings you here? I thought you would still be in bed considering you work nightshifts."

Minna looked up from the bottle she held in her hand. to her awe and shock stood the man she had met the night before, Christopher.

~You've got to be kidding me...~

"Oh wow, small world, huh? Usually I would be sleeping right now, but I've got a 24 hour case of insomnia I guess. Plus I needed to pick up something for a headache." She replied, and shook the bottle in her hand for empasis. Turning to face him, she propped herself on the shelf.

"So what brings you here my late night friend?"

Removing the box of Icy Hot pads from the bag he was handling, Christopher held it up for Minna to see. "For my lovely, troublesome back. I'm suppose to go to the river today with Glaucus and some girl he knows that's from Ireland or something. Erik came along too."

"Say, do you want to go to the river with us by chance?" Chris asked in an excited manner. "I'll gladly pay your way!"

Christopher awaited Minna's answer, smiling a little. He was hoping she would say yes because if Glaucus was going to bring along his little love interest, why couldn't Christopher bring his as well?

Carefully Minna considered the notion. She did enjoy his company....but she had only met him hours ago. Her cautious side began to rear its head.

"Oh, sorry I think I'll have to pass. I'm not really dressed for a hike to the river, and I'm going to try and get some sleep sometime today. But maybe some other time." She stated as she ggestured to her clothing. In all reality she wasn't dressed for a hike in the woods, mainly because of the three inch heeled boots she was wearing under her jeans.

"Oh..." Christopher simply said, frowning a little bit. He was really hoping that Minna could join them. But of course, it did not work that way. Instead, he would have to be stuck with dealing with Glaucus's little girlfriend's naivety. Well, at least Erik was going to be accompanying them as well. But still, he was a slightly sullen Minna would not take part in the proceedings.

He then asked very hopefully, "Well, can I see you later on tonight when you make it for your shift? By the way, would you mind bringing some of your modeling portfolio with you? I'm awfully curious to see some of your work."

"Yes you can. And I guess I can bring a few pics." She replied with a smile.

"And maybe we can do something else sometime perhaps?"

Grinning a little, Christopher inquired, "What did you have in mind?"

Chris looked at her longingly for a moment, very intrigued by what she might propose.

"Well, we could always go to the movies. Or we could take a walk in the park or something like that." She replied.

"I'm up for anything really. Just give me the time and place." A smile flashed across her face, how long had it been since she'd been on a real date, and not on a date with her sleezy photographer.

Christopher considered the notion for a moment. It had been a while since he had actually last seen a movie in the theatres. Between his travels on the film festival circuit and the fact that not many of today's movies were appealing to him, it was due time he see a film in an actual movie theatre once again. But what was playing at the theatres now?

'Meh, I'll worry about that later,' Christopher dismissed the question internally.

Smirking a little, Chris replied, "Sure. A movie and a walk sounds like a great idea. It's been a while since I've last been to the theatre and I'm always up for a walk. When do you have a night off?"

"Hmmm...let me see," she held up her fingers and began to tic off the days. "I'll be off on Thursday and Saturday. So it's totally up to you. Just tell me when you decide, I'm fixing to go home and go to bed."

SHe gave him a nod of her head and a wink then began her journey towards the check-out line.

Christopher's face lit up in an animated manner as he responded, "Alright! I'll let you know later on tonight when I see you!"

Chris called out to Minna, "Bye!" as she made her way towards the checkout lane. After she was out of sight, his back reminded him exactly why he was here in the first place. He let out a gasp and bit his lip a little, the pain and soreness a bit much to bear. It felt like his tailbone was pushing against his skin, stretching it. Nothing could accurately describe how awkward and bizarre the sensation was. The only thing that did accurately describe it for Chris at that moment was the term 'unbearable.'

Christopher quickly rushed to the nearby Men's Restroom to apply an Icy Hot pad so he could finally feel some relief.

Erik was listening to the music they had over in the electronics department. They had all of his favorites: Bowling For Soup, Linkin Park, All-American Rejects, aand many, many more.

After twenty minutes or so, he had to...go. Nearing the restroom, he saw Chris walk in, definitely in pain. Opening the door slowly, Erik asked "Chris, are you okay?"

Duke certainly hadn't had the best start to his day. The argument with his father had left him tired and reluctant to rush home. He had dragged his feet all the way here and had managed to procure himself a blister of gigantic proportions on his left heel, as well as a new one forming on his right. He had cursed his father the whole trip down to the mart, a full 45 minute walk. By now, Duke was hardly in the mood to be in a shop with a lot of people. Problem was, he had stalled enough as it was. Looking up at the large Mart, he sighed and entered.

The toll of the typical shop music did little to lighten his mood. Strolling through the aisles, Duke's silver eyes passed over everything quickly until he reached the pharmaceutical aisle. Plasters seemed like a bloody good idea at that time, the sting of a burst blister on his heel seemingly flaring worse when he stopped to think about it. He pulled a large variety box off the shelf, a couple up the end of the aisle only catching his attention for a moment. They were young lovers by the sound of it, and one was definately some kind of tourist. Povero sciocco. What a place to visit! Peering over his sunglasses at them, he took in their appearances. From their coversation, it appeared that a group were heading up to the river. Better not plan on going too close to his home. It was bad enough he was going to have to walk with the bags of shopping, never mind with a roudy load of tourists blocking the path. Returning his attention to what he was doing, Duke strolled through the queues and found a customer service till.

"Can I help you?" The girl at the counter was blonde, dark brown eyes, and had one of those high pitched voices that set Duke's teeth on edge.

"Si... My padre sent through an order... Under the name of Johnson." Duke's voice faultered on his father's last name. He himself had decided to reject his father's last name, not wanting to be associated with the bully and taking his mother's name instead, Lo Contre. The girl smiled and typed away on her keyboard for a while before 'mmm'ing and 'ahhh'ing before asking Duke to sign for the bags. There were 5 in all, and Duke swore mentally at his father.

"Sir? Sir?" Duke looked up at the girl, silver eyes glaring over the top of his glasses. Her smile faultered a little, but she continued. "Would you like help with these bags? I'm sure we can arrange for someone to help you to your car?" Duke smirked and took the receipt from her, a little more forcefully then necessary.

"Don't kid yourself, ragazza. I have no car. I must walk." The girl was taken aback and tapped at a few keys on her screen.

"But, that is an awful long way to walk with these sir!" Duke tutted at her and took the bags, pushing the necessary cash at her, along with the plasters.

"Just deal with my request, ragazza." He muttered, turning his back on her and looking out over the crowds as she sputtered a little but sorted out the payment. Tapping Duke's hand with the box, she smiled at him.

"Have a good day sir." She chimed and left the desk.

L'oh sì, a destra… come voi significa quello! He quipped mentally, pushing the box of plasters into his pocket before hefting up the bags and exitting the mart. Finding a bench just outside, he set the bags down and unzipped his large boots. The blister was a nasty one, and Duke swore mentally at his stupidity at not wearing a thicker pair of socks. Covering it over with the plaster, as well as sorting out the beginning of a blister on his other foot, Duke leant back, glaring at the shopping. Ché vita...
