The River

Wooden benches sat beside a calm river. Many lovers walked the shores of the water hand in hand. Relatioships began and ended here, many stomach turnning kisses and embraces to remember began at the river. Willow trees weaped over the romantic setting, roses and tulips spread amogst the bushes. Come here to relax with your lover.

When the boat finally landed Aurora was more then ready to get out, not to mention she was deadly hungry. She climbed out of the old boat and pushed it back into the river allowing it to float down stream once more, she had seen enough of it and that was that. She stretched her legs and sat down on one of the benches deciding what to do next. As she looked around she spotted a castle and thought that this would be the perfect place to start her new destiny, she set out immediately for the gates.

(I'm posting next at the castle)

After his encouter in the outskirts Roto decided to stop off at the river to clear his head. Ever since he was young he had played at a small pond that was a branch off of this very river. He also remembered it was the first time he met the woman he cared for most of all in life. "Cassyle... I miss you." he said looking up at the skies with a small tear in his eye. "I'll live to the fullest because I know that is what you would want." he said to her smiling image in the sky. It had been years since he dared to remember her because of his memory of her death, but of how she had died. "Those bastards..." he said as he remembered. "I will repay them. However, I must become strong to do so." he said to himself as he turned to the castle to greet his sovereigns.

((Er. Sorry - rambly post.))

It was about an hour or so after daybreak, and the air was still wonderfully crisp. The willow trees and numerous bushes that decorated the land seemed to be at peace, casting their reflections on the moderately calm depths of the river. The people of the kingdom were stirring, and the slow buzz of the kingdom's usual business was slowly starting to be heard over the calls of nature.

They were all still in their homes, though; shaking their children awake, busying about the kitchen, and kissing their spouses farewell as they headed off to work. Things were especially dormant in the heart of the city - where the stream was fluidly flowing, and the nobles spent their time. After all, what need did nobles have of waking up for work? None, indeed. Nevertheless, the original point was that the area was peaceful.

Nearer toward the slums, something rippled beneath the calm exterior of the river. A young man surfaced, throwing his messy, wet red hair back away from his eyes as he did so, and grinned at the passers-by. They all knew him - this was his neighbourhood - and they were familiar with his antics by then. "Ye're grinning like a hound," a low voice greeted the good-looking male, who climbed out of the river easily. The redhead was wearing only breeches, and those were completely drenched. "I'm guessin' ye' got a good haul, th'n?"

The redhead turned to see his dark-haired older brother shaking his head at him. "I'll all's be in awe'f yer gall," the older man told him. "They're getting complacent," the younger one commented, walking with his brother to one of the broken-down huts that were hidden beyond a few of the alleys and more well-maintained buildings of the slums, "These nobles. Just 'cause they live in their own li'l world, they think none'll touch 'em. I'll get changed and we'll pawn these off." They'd arrived at the door. "Hurry, Dain," his brother called out with a tinge of impatience in his tone.

The redheaded youngster didn't bother to reply. He was drying his hair out with a cloth. He reemerged with a white linen shirt, black breeches, tattered (but clean) riding boots, and extremely - though charming - messy, dry hair. He was holding an oilskin flask. Uncorking it, he turned it over and a couple of gold pieces of jewellery and one or two precious stones dropped into his palm. Dain's brother swore in surprise before pocketing. "Tha' was a good haul, indeed," he said, his crooked grin flashing in the darkness of the alley. "You go on ahead," Dain told him, "I've somewhere else to be."

"Where d'ye keep headin' off ta' that's so 'mportant, ey? His brother demanded, firmly grasping his shoulder. Dain looked back at him, an eyebrow arched, "To make a living."

And with that, he shook of his brother and disappeared into the web of alleys and boulevards, heading for the rendezvous point - the abandoned warehouse.
