Okay, this sounds like a stupid question but since I don't really know much Japanese... sweatdrop .
Since watching Heroes, me and my brother have been argueing about the meaning of "Yata" (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling). One of the characters in Heroes says it. My brother says that it means "I did it!" but I think it means "YAY!". In some videos of G no Arashi and Mago Mago Arashi, translations say that they say "YAY!" when they say "Yata!". I'm not sure what it actually means... please help so I can end the arguement once and for all, I'm getting quite sick of my brother argueing with me -_-'. And plus, if I'm right I can rub it in his face! ^_^

Hmm.. *ponders* I'm pretty sure it is YAY but I'll see what other people think.

Yatta... could mean what you all said, yes... though I think it means "good!" or something. because when i watch anime and I hear "yatta" and usually the sub would say "good"
oh well. I'm not really an expert. sweatdrop but that's what i think..

yatta = I did it
ususally used to express happiness after accomplishing something
example - I won the game! yatta!!
it litteraly means "I did it"; however, you can translate it as "yay"
