Oz Online
http://oz.ongameport.com/
Description: A giant online community revolving around fishing... You fish in order to get money and buy stuff. You lvl up through fishing so you can wear higher brow items.

Pros: None I can think of...
Cons: Horribly executed, it takes forever to fish and there is a small probability of getting trash. Also the graphics are assy as hell, I've seen better from an N64. Slightly better than Runescape, but still crappy.

Second Life
http://secondlife.com/
Description: Large online community with open ended avatar customization as well as the ability to generate your own objects into the world.
Pros: Yay avatar customization! Also you can fly around and make stuff.
Cons: Very laggy and crowded, and if you wanna do cool customization, it will require the use of photoshoppe.

Silk Road Online
http://www.silkroadonline.net/
Description: Based on real Chinese History, but with fantasy mixed in. Characters you can play as include Geisha cat girl, prostitute, nerdy girl, Old guy, cliche protagonist, some chick with white hair, and chinese zombie woman.
Pros: Good graphics
Cons: Poor control scheme, also I got lost at the beginning. Sometimes laggy.

Rakion Online
http://www.rakion.com/
Description: Insane MMO Fantasy Combat action game. From the people who made Gunbound.
Pros: One of the few free MMO action games you can play. Also you can do single player missions. You can summon creatures (if you have the game money to afford them...)
Cons: The game only lets you play with people who have similar internet connection speeds. Hyper Modes for characters are ugly... Especially Ninja... Also armor falling off when hit is kind of lame, it's not in comedic Ghouls N Ghosts type fashion. Also there's a lack of assortment of stuff you can use...

Kal Online
http://www.kalonline.com/
Description: MMORPG with Medevial Fantasy theme
Pros: Decent graphics, I suppose.
Con: Game is laggy and crowded, especially since this game only has 2 large international servers. There's only 3 classes archer, mage, and swordsman. Yeah only one of them is a male class.

Trickster Online
http://www.tricksteronline.com/
Description: Treasure hunting MMORPG where you drill for stuff.
Pros: Drilling is fun... Apparently in other versions you can get a pet based on two of the characters from Pangya (same company).
Cons: Took forever for me to download the client (4+ hours!). I hate how it requires me to log-in through their website. The English/Europe version is still new, but can get crowded. Also I'm not a big fan of going as people with animal ears and tail (you can rip them off when you hit lvl 20 though). Also you can't customize your av so much. Also occasional lag and the game can get crowded.

All of the games I listed above have been taken to the digital shadow realm due to frustration or me having a lack of interest.

So far the only new MMO game I found worth keeping is:

Ran Online
www.playran.com
Description:Insane Japanese School themed MMORPG where rival schools compete to be #1. All the schools are bizzarely over-ran by ghetto thugs and crackwhores who are apparently "monsters".

Pros: Interesting concept. lol Rival Schools. Auto decline for duels is a savior. Other players are usually good people. My favorite mission was to go clean the dormitory because all you do is kill piles of trash with a broom.
Cons: Logging in through IE, sometimes it errors alot. Also occasional lag and a few visual glitches. Limited assortment of stuff to equip with. Also I hate how some items have expiration dates.

There you have it a large list of free MMO games. Feel free to try them if you want...

I've heard good things about Ran Online and was always tempted to try it out. The others sound ok for a bored rainy sunday afternoon me thinks.

Well if you need someone to help you out with Ran, you know who to turn to.

I heard Maple Story was both fun and free, but I haven't been able to play it because I primarily use a Mac. I might check out Ran.

In Maple Story people steal your stuff if you aren't quick enough... >.<;

Unless you can find a bunch of people you trust.

And it lags on my comp. I have no idea why. o_o

I might try Ran. xD

Well Maple Story, Runescape, Adventure Quest, and Gunbound are all games everyone has heard of one time or another. I felt like looking for something new to work with.

Jishin, I don't think there is a Ran Client for Mac, unless you use Bootcamp.
It's tough finding Mac MMO games.

Right now I'm trying "Decide Online"
http://deicide.ongameport.com/
I just started the game. I am quite lost, since they don't give you much of a hint on what to do first. They give you two sets of equipment, but they do nothing. Also an annoying fairy follows you until you hit level 10. Apparently the fairy serves as some sort of guide for new people, but it has nothing useful to say. And damn I wish it would shut up.

So far the cool thing about Decide is the game/character intro cinema, where your character walks into a fancy building wearing a cloak and then reveals themself, from there you make your character.

Is it good?

The site looks cool and the story sounds nice, but the choice of language used when singing praises about themselves is annoying... >.<;

'Lean back and listen to the stunning sound track of Deicide Online' etc. etc...

Decide's okay, you level up by focusing on one attack method. The attack method you choose leads to a certain job and equipment.

here some more stuff I tried:
Hero Online
http://hero.netgame.com/
Description: Asian Martial Arts themed MMORPG.
Pros: Alright graphics
Cons: Laggy and people who can't type (some of them go "@@@@@" alot at the end of their sentences, why? I don't know. The loading time was also horrible.

The Legend of Ares
http://ares.netgame.com/
Description: MMORPG with rival groups concept.
Pros: The game runs pretty smooth and leveling up the first few levels was fast.
Cons: Sort of dull and no visual equips.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 15, 2006 2:20 am

http://rappelz.gpotato.com/
Description: Fairly new MMORPG about three rival nations with different abilities, large scale pvp combat and ability to have pets. Yeah you're usual stuff...

Pros: Teamwork?
Cons: This game lags alot.... Especiall you're near other people. People aren't talkative unless they're selling something.

Sounds like what I know about Zelda games. Especially the annoying fairy following you around. xp

Foundation Game
http://www.foundationgame.com
Description: Space strategy and Diplomacy game set in Asimov's Foundation universe.
Pros: Very friendly and large Roleplay community on the forums that will help you if you need it. Good instructions and simple actions that are easy to learn. A slow mission progression to lower you into the game gradually and reveal more about the Universe as you work to higher levels.
Cons: Slow integration and poor responce from lower level players, it takes a while to really get into the game and many give up before they give it a chance.
Turn rate: Actions each take a few hours to complete and reccomended use is about twice a day for 5-10 minutes; this leaves people wanting more after issueing their first orders unless they get involved in the Roleplay and interaction.

Battle Corp
http://genesia.battlecorp.com/
Description: Stock trading corperations doing anything to earn money, including invading entire planets to use them as resource and production stations.
Pros: Community is pretty friendly and informative about things in game. Well thought out maps that allow for fair, but varied, tactics and strategies for every player.
Cons: Only free for a month and actions are pretty slow, attacks take a day each and a production cycle is two days. Not enough English translations yet and details of actions until you test them out; this leads to a lot of trial and error and self teaching to find the best way to play the game.
Turn rate: Only need to access once a day for 10 minutes or so.

IMVU
http://www.imvu.com
Description: Not quite an MMORPG, but it is an Avatar-based IM with horrible talk to random strangers feature!
Pros: Uhh....
Cons: I don't like this thing very much, the only reason I'm trying it to contact an old Friend. First of all, the items you get are usually pay based but you can earn a random ammount of the fake currency through looking at the new items page or you can get 500 through reccomendations (I bet you could make alot of dummy accounts...). To make your own stuff you need to fork over $8 and have some sort of knowledge on how to use the damn developers tool, but apparently you can make fake and real money by doing so. The random chat feature is horrible, first time I tried it, I got kicked by some guy who wanted to "get some". Yes your character can do certain actions, anyone can. So if someone tries to touch you in a place or in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's no good! You can't stop it. All you can do is say "no" and then you get out of there... Graphics aren't so hot either and I hate the lack of movement.

Gunz the Duel
http://gunzonline.com/
Description: Third Person Shooter MMO game.
Pros: You could play rediculously long rounds.
Cons: Alot of the people aren't so great, and they can't type worth poop. Limited avatar customization. For the most part you can look like a mercenary or a hobo or a hobo mercenary, most likely you can look like a reject TMNT game enemy too. I know this is a some what popular game, but I just can't get myself into it... So if you like running around and doing flips and dashes like an action movie star while holding a weapon of some sort. I guess this game is for you.

I haven't found anything new that sparked my interest the past few days. I did download Infinity, but I never got around towards playing it.

I have been playing alot of RAN lately... I had to make a new character after I found out I messed up on stats...
-__-'
I use a similar sounding name in that game.... I should post some screencaps.
