Current Time Setting:
May 2006

-------------------------

In the midst of the isolated resort sits a marble fountain. In the center of it stand three statues, representations of the classic poets Ovid, Dante Algeheri, and Vigilius. The fountain is very well crafted and detailed but shows some signs of age. While a very lovely fountain, it seems out of place... too contrasting with the rest of the resort area. Everything else seemed so much more cozy while the fountain itself came across as rather gothic or haunting in architecture.

However, it makes for a nice area to relax by and just hang out. Perhaps even meet someone new.

Day 1
Evening/Night

------------------------

Glacus lay on the side of the fountain, it was about 7:00 eastern and the sun was going down. His parents would be calling him in two hours but he wanted to wait, he wanted to see if he could recognize Chris if he got here tonight.

From what he knew from the Aim chat he had brown hair and a goatee. He was listening to Enjoy the Silence, by Lacuna Coil when he glanced skyward, and beheld the moon. “ The full moon an almost unending source of both romantic and creative wonder” he said out loud and then laughed at himself.

"...Please awake
And see the truth
He can only be
If you believe what he tells you
Remember who you are
What you stand for
And there will always be a way

Deceiver of hearts
Deceiver of fools
He rules with fear
Deceiver of hearts
Deceiver of fools
He rules again..."

...blared the song from the radio in the 1979 Black Hemicuda that Christopher was driving. Dusk was setting when he had pulled into the parking lot of the resort. Coming to a stop, Chris shut off the car and exited his treasured vehicle. He got out and shut the door behind him, patting the hood of the car. Christopher then stretched a little before he took in an inhale of the fresh air.

Gazing about, Chris's eyes immediately spotted the fountain. It was hard to miss considering it stood out like a beacon compared to the rest of the place. Then again, that was most likely the purpose, so that the resort had an identifying signature about it. Christopher noticed that a figure was seated on the edge of the fountain. He squinted a little and could make out that the person had dyed blue hair.

Smirking a little, Christopher thought, 'No mistake. That's Glacus.'

Christopher approached his old time online friend and extended a hand to him when he neared. "Hey Glacus! Guess who."

Glacus’s tone changed as the song shifted to Beyond the Veil, and he sang it,

Not fear, nor tears can reach me now
the light seems so clear as the night fades away
Behold of thy flame, below of all shame
Come conquer me sweet dreams of paradise
Dusk drawn hither to my evening star

Almost in tune with the song, he saw Venus emerge and the song continued:
A glance in thy mirror
The trance of thy mirror
Venus... through the looking glass
Dance so frail and lost in the fields afar
Cast off thy mourning
Clasp life and glory
Venus... through the looking glass

And then, he heard it, “Hey Glacus! Guess who.” And saw a hand extend, He glanced up and lost his balance. Mere milliseconds later he was in the water. And his Ipod miraculously slipped of his head. Now freezing and in the fountain, a very wet and shocked Glacus said, said, “Hey chris!” and he shook his hand. “How are you?”

Christopher reached for his friend but only caught the iPod as it slipped away from Glacus. Looking down into the fountain, Chris tried to hold in his laughter as he shook his now soaked friend's hand. Not being able to resist a wisecrack, Christopher commented, "Seems you can't keep yourself out of the water, can you?"

As Glacus stood, Chris handed the iPod back to his friend. "Well, I managed to save your iPod at least. Let me go get you a towel. I have some in my car."

He broke into a run towards his car and unlocked the trunk, pulling out a suitcase. Christopher quickly unzipped it, rummaged through the contents, and pulled out a towel. He then put the suitcase away and hurried back to aide his friend.

"Here you go," Christopher said as he gave Glacus the towel. "So, how are you doing?"

“I’ve never heard that one before, thanks for the save” Glacus said taking the Ipod.

When He came back, Glacus climbed out of the fountain graciously accepted the towel from Chris. “Thank you, Well I very good, I am finally back were I belong,” He winked “hopefully tomorrow will be a good beach day. what about yourself?"

He looked back at Chris after drying his hair. “You didn’t believe me that they dyed my hair did you?”

Shrugging a little bit, Christopher replied, "I guess I can't complain. But I'm glad to get away from the film festival circuit. It was just really exhausting. Plus the fact I haven't felt rested since I went back home after... well, you know."

There was an awkward pause of silence. Chris gazed at the view in the sky for a moment and smirked. The moon was already out with transparent clouds surrounding it. Then noticing the acres of forest below it made him grin widely. "I think I'm going to like it here."

Christopher looked at Glacus when he spoke up and answered, "No, I actually did believe you. In fact, that was the little detail I was looking for to identify you with when I got here. Anyway, I should go check in. You want to come with?"

“That’s good though, how was the drive down? Yeah this is a new place for me too, I’ve never been this far south” the breeze picked up. “The air just feels so inviting down here”

Christopher looked at Glacus when he spoke up and answered, "Well thank goodness for that. Sure why not?"

“I heard about a legend the people have here about the Tarhelian river, I think I want to see that, It’s probably baloney but I’ve read a ton about it so it will be cool.” He said cautiously.
"Would you want to go, like in a few days?"

"The trip down would have been painfully dull had it not been for my music collection," Christopher explained, chuckling a little.

Chris motioned for Glacus to follow him to the main office. He continued to stare up at the beautiful sky that was casting twilight upon them. It was just so breathtaking. It brought back memories of what Christopher had so long ago as a child. Flashbacks of how he use to sneak out of the house constantly to head out to the woods littered his mind. He couldn't help but smile as those moments of long ago came flooding back to him.

He snapped back to reality when Glacus interjected with a question about the Tarhelian River. Christopher raised an eyebrow, "I guess so... but isn't that all the way on the actual mainland? Also, what's this legend you heard about it."

They entered the main office.

”Same here”

“Yes it is but there is a ferry service man over there, after he was hitting on my sister for an hour he gave her two tickets to the mainland. She gave them to me just because she didn’t want them. The legend is immortality, and apparently, if you throw a coin into the source of the river, your greatest dream will come true.”

Anticipating a skeptical look, Glacus added “Like I said a load of baloney, but it’s a free ride, so why not”

Day 1
Evening/Night

------------------------

Stepping off of the bus, Erik pulled down the hood of his sweatshirt, revealing his thick red hair, which was a little dirty from not getting washed, and the bags under his eyes, showing that he hadn't been getting much sleep lately.

Raising his head, he took a good look at the resort in front of him and said in a quiet voice "Nice place...". Taking a seat in one of the benches near the fountain, Erik set his bag on the ground next to him and sighed. How long had it been since the night when he ran away, a day? A week? A month? Erik had lost track of all time, since he didn't really care. He just wanted to get as far away as possible, and apparently, this was as far as you could go.

Starting to doze off and starting to fall asleep for the first time in a couple days, someone could sit right next to Erik and not wake him up unless they said something.

While he sat inside the office with Minna, Christopher picked up the sound of a bus coming to a halt and cocked his head to the open door. Outside, someone who appeared to be a teenage male got off the bus and had a seat by the fountain. Curiosity got the better of Chris and he stood, wincing a little as his lower back was still paining him. "I'll be right back... There's someone out there."

Christopher wandered outside, approaching with caution. As he creeped closer, Chris could make out some more details about the young man, mainly being that he had shaggy red hair. He reached the teenager, finding that he had fallen asleep. The bags under the kid's eyes worried him greatly. He did not look well at all.

"Hey kid," Christopher called out, kneeling down and placing his hands on the teenage boy's shoulders. "What's wrong? You don't look so hot."

Chris hissed in pain once more as the ache in his tailbone suddenly increased. He pulled a hand away from the teenager and began to rub his lower back once more. It really did seem like Christopher was going to have to go to the hospital at this rate and get some x-rays done. This wasn't normal for him at all. As he continued to massage his back one handed, Chris stood and exclaimed, "Geez. Someone would think my lower back was beat with a sack of quarters."

"Anyway," Christopher got back on track, "I'm sorry to disturb you. But you look really worn down. Is there anything I can do?"

Just as Erik was almost sound asleep, he felt two hands on his shoulders. Opening his eyes slowly, he jumped up and fell backwards off the bench when he saw that some stranger was way too close. Eyes wide open and breathing heavily, he eventually calmed down and resumed his exhausted appearance. Dusting himself off, he said "Sorry about that, you scared me there, but don't worry, I'm fine, just a little tired, I haven't been getting much sleep lately."

For the past few days since he ran away, Erik had hardly slept at all, mostly he spent the nights outside sleeping (well, at least trying to sleep) on a bench in a park, or underneath a tree. He would've gone to a hotel, but it would seem pretty suspicious, and if he used one of the credit cards he stole, the police could've traced it to find him.

Attempting to stand up, Erik legs were wobbly and he immediately fell over out of sheer exhaustion. Reaching out for the man's hand, he said "Well, could you help me over to the lobby so I can check in?" Normally, Erik would be too nervous to speak up like he was now, but right then, he was too tired to think about that.

Chris helped the teenage boy to his feet and replied, "Yeah, sure. Just a couple questions first. Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

He began to walk towards the check-in office with the teenager. Christopher turned to face the boy once more, still a little concerned about his health. The teenage boy looked as if he had escaped from Hell or something. "If you don't want to answer, you don't have to... I'm just a little concerned is all."

Still a little weak on his feet, Erik had to lean on Chris for support. As they walked toward the lobby, he answered the question. "My name's Erik, Erik Attaway, and I'm going to be meeting my family here." Under normal circumstances, Erik couldn't lie, it just wasn't in him, but this time he'd managed to pull it off. Wanting to ease Chris' worries, Erik replied "Don't worry, I just haven't been able to sleep well. I came here one of those Greyhound buses, and I just couldn't sleep, too much noise." He then asked "So, who are you?"
