Day 1
Evening/Night

------------------------

Jeanne sat down on her bed, sighing. It had taken about three days, but she had finally moved all of her books from her van to the cabin. "This vacations probably going to last more than a week." she said to herself as she smiled in accomplishment. "Now... which one should I start with?" she said as scanned through the books for a title she only read about twice. "I'll start this vacation off with..." her eyes then landed on a book. "Star Split! It's for children, but it's still very good with an interesting concept." She grabbed the book and sat down on the floor, drifting off into another storyland.

Glaucus came up to the porch and dropped the metamorphoses on her step.

Glaucus smiled and then whispered to no one, "You have no idea how this has helped me", and then he ran to his cabin in the dead of the night.

Glaucus arrived at Jeanne’s cabin; he had a bad feeling already about entering. The door wasn’t locked or even closed all the way, Glaucus pushed it open and called out “Jeanne?”

No answer. Looking down at the floor he found countless books, more then at the libraries at school, all on the floor. The classics he noted scattered about all had claw marks and holes bitten in them. Somebody with a passion for books never treated them in such a way… or at least a person wouldn’t. As he continued to survey the squalid condition, he saw a pile of odd looking clothing that she typically wore, in a lump on the couch. He cautiously walked to it, and as he picked up the elongate skirt, a small dash of orange and tan appeared.

The thing was either a mouse or a rat, but it had huge legs. Glaucus knew who and what it was, “Jeanne… you” as he tried to put his hand down to pick it up the frightened rodent lunged away, it jumped at a good 5 feet in the air. The thing jumped over his shoulder and scurried out off the cabin.

“Well at least we know the answer to that.” Glaucus said dimly. On his way out he noticed an undestroyed book on the porch it was the copy of the metamorphoses he returned two nights ago. “She changed faster then all of us, maybe fear does play a part.”
With that he returned to the others at the fountain.

The door at the front of the cabin squeaked open revealing a rather messy room and a befuddled new occupant standing in the doorway. "The hell happened here?!" Liz looked around with a nervous expression on her face clenching her teeth. Was this why the guy at the front desk gave her a funny look? Reluctantly she shuffled in pushing aside books with her heavy boots making a clear trail towards the bed. Plopping down her duffle bag for the final time on the floor a small fine layer of dust kicked up. It wasn't that uncommon for even the cleanest of cabins to still have dust creep into the cracks. If she didn't know any better, the last occupant couldn't have left more than a couple of days ago.

Taking off her floppy desert boonie hat she ruffled her short mass of hat hair into a poofier but all the less itchy mess. "I've heard about havin' to work fer everythin' in life but bein' the maid of your own damn cabin?" It was probably her fault for taking the best deal but still, even two star hotels have maids...but the lack of cockroaches was worth noting. Getting to work she picked up all the empty ripped bags of trash and books along the way. She noticed some of them were chewed on, then looking to the couch found a pile of clothing. "Ok so i guess they have a rat town populatin' the room. No problem, at least they dun crawl into bed with you by the thousands."

After a couple of hours Liz had succeeded to toss out the clothes in a trashbag for health hazards sake. But the books were harder to take care of, and for some reason she couldn't compel herself to throw them out since most of them were still in relatively good condition. Granted she wouldn't be able to read every word or page because of a clawmark or hole but with such an extensive collection....someone must have enjoyed reading them. Liz ends up stacking them neatly before walking to her bed. "Hmmmm, no rodent suprises under the sheets." She looks under the bed. "Clean down here too...." 'Why would someone just abandon the cabin with all their stuff still inside?'

Finally washing her hands she sits down on the bed rubbing her eyes. As tired as she was she felt too uneasy to just fall asleep. Maybe it was the stress and memories that still lingered like a heavy raincloud over her head. Or even the fact that she had to clean her own rented cabin. "What a strange place..."

Day 4: Afternoon

Whether is was from the residual jetlag, the sudden change in habits or hot to cold weather, maybe even a little bit of all the above, one thing was for sure, something happened to make her ill. At she was pacing around the cabin, finding things to do from moving around the heavy furniture to exercises; nothing says tough like good old fashioned push ups. But when she finally let herself relax; passing out seemed to be the more appropriate words, belly down with her face buried drooling into the comforter, nothing could seem to wake her. Except, maybe her own snoring and the itchy splotchy rash slowly enveloping her back.

It started off as a small twitch, then the occasional scratch. Before long Liz abruptly finds her sleep rudely interrupted as she feverishly scratched at her back. It almost felt like someone had smeared poison ivy all over it. Stumbling to the restroom mirror she studied the reflection of her clawed and marked back. There were light yet noticeably growing marks on her back, yet because of how hard she had scratched the blotches looked all the more like enflamed rashes amongst the many red lines. "Dammit." She huffed under her breath. Luckily she kept ointment in a first aid kit in her bag, however as she struggled smearing the soothing cream over the irritated flesh she could already tell that she would have to find a store for more.

Pulling out another cigarette Liz pats herself down for her lighter. Only to find that it was no where to be found. "I really hope i didn't lose it in those woods..." She huffed looking under the bed before sitting up and rubbing her eyes irritatedly. "Gotta go back." Putting back on her shirt, she gives the room another look before heading back.
