Day 1Evening/Night------------------------ Continued fromThe Office/Main Desk------------------------ They walked past the eeriely tranquil fountain and into a dark grove of trees. The ghostly shadows of the treelimbs snaked across the quiet trail leading to her cabin. The dead leaves crunched beneath Relana's feet; her breath condensated into the cold night air. "Goodness," shivered Relana, "It's cold outside! I didn't notice how cold it was before." A nightbird gave a haunting call within the cold night. Relana walked in silence for a moment, relishing the time she had with Glaucus. Now, look at you! she thought to herself. You're acting like a silly schoolgirl! All in a tizzy over this boy.....Ooh, but I can't help it! He's so nice and so.....Handsome.... She grinned to herself, blushing a bit. "So, Glaucus....Do your parents mind you being out so late? I hope I'm not going to get you in trouble..." she said, frowning.

“It does tend to get rather cold sometimes out here” he said suppressing a shiver.
Glaucus couldn’t believe it; this who he had only known personally for five minutes was actually having a lasting impression. He became so mortified to mess up or say something dumb in front of her… but the worst thing was he didn’t realize it until momentarily. She was everything he could have ever hoped form, she was witty, nice beyond many of the ladies he knew, she was beautiful and she was gifted with a beautiful voice.
“Not since college have they truly exorcised any control they are all asleep already, but I was restless so I went walking.” He continued earnestly “I should return though soon. After we get you all situated.” He said as the reached cabin number 4. He opened the door again, and motioned for her to enter first.

"Ohhh, I'm glad," nodded Relana. "I didn't want to get you in trouble or anything!"
He opened the door for her and she ran inside, where she hoped she could turn the heat on. She turned on the light and found a quaint layout for the room. It had a living room with a wooden floor and a worn, faded green rug. A fireplace (complete with a few logs) was the centerpiece of the room; the mantle it was built around was a dark slate. "Oooh, a fireplace!" Relana clapped her hands in delight, walking around the room. Just like the main desk, the room smelled slightly of cedarwood. Several landscape pictures adorned the wooden walls; they portrayed the awesome power of the North Carolina storms as waves broke across the worn rocks of the rugged coast. A brown couch slouched in the middle of the room; it looked like it had seen better days. Further down led to the kitchen, where it had a wooden floor and a white countertop. The refrigerator hummed softly in the background; Relana noticed that a toaster, coffee maker, and a microwave were on the large countertop. Nonetheless, Relana was enthralled. The whole place had a rustic feeling to it. As she explored further, she found a door that led to her bedroom. A light pink coversheet was spread across the bed; the color reminded Relana of cotton candy. A low desk sat beside the bed with a tiny lamp on top of it. "Oooh, this is so great, Glaucus!" she giggled, jumping in delight. "Are all American resorts like this?"
She dropped her heavy backpack on the bed and began to poke around a little more. Relana soon found the bathroom, which had white tiles and a clean, marble sink as well as a large vanity. The bathtub was marble and had a pea-green shower curtain. The toilet was small, but other than that, she loved the bathroom.
"Glaucus, I'm thankful for all you've done tonight! I'm so glad to have met you!" She grinned. "I can't wait until tomorrow!"

“Me too!” Glacus said, Once he saw that Relana had mostly settled in he realized that he was getting tired himself, and that it was time to go home. “Well I’d better get going, I’ll meet you tomorrow in the main lobby at 11:00 Sharp okay?” He asked hoping that that would be acceptable.

"Alright, that's fine!" she said, excitement creeping into her voice. "I hope I haven't inconvienced you in any way....See you later, then!" She gave him a quick farewell embrace and bid him goodbye.
As she shut the door, she squealed in delight.
"Aaaaach! He invited me to go somewhere! With him!" She pranced around her living room, laughing in delight. "Goodness, this will be so much fun! Me and my online friend get to go somewhere! I do hope the convention doesn't mind that I skip a day~!"

Day 2 Evening/Night
------------------------
Relana shut the door to her room, her heart still pounding.
Glaucus had invited her to go to the beach with him! Laughing to herself, she took off her armwarmers that hid her shimmering blue scales; her arms were getting terribly uncomfortable under the clingy fabric. Sitting on her bed crosslegged, she inspected the strange scales further.
They were so smooth; she had expected them to be rough and hard after she had dried off from her accident at the river. Yet, they still were slightly slimy and soft, like fish scales. Blowing a strand of her green hair out of her face, she frowned.
"Blue looks lovely on you."
Shaking the butterflies out of her stomach as she remembered his voice, she wondered how Glaucus' parents were.
"Ach, what if they don't like me, though?" she asked the empty room, letting herself fall on the bed. Its old springs squeaked in protest as they sagged; Relana frowned at them.
"Eeeeeeh, what do I need to wear?" She brought herself up, walking over to her still unpacked bags of clothes. She dug through them until she found a purple bikini. Sighing, she brought it out.
"Ach, what if they don't like meeeeeee?" She squealed in frustration, stomping her feet on the wooden floor like a maddened bull.
Shaking the thought out of her head, she got her pajamas and took her shower. She set her alarm clock to seven in the morning; she couldn't miss the conference meeting this time. Covering herself with her covers, she drifted off to sleep.

Nearly an hour later, Relana awakened; she felt very restless and unable to sleep. Her mind was wandering, wondering about her strange occurances since her arrival in America.
She sat up, rubbing her eyes with her hands vigorously. "Ach," her voice croaked, "I need to sleep. Why can't I?" The dim glow of the bathroom light within the cabin made the whole place feel somewhat eerie; Relana never really liked the dark that much. Sighing at her silliness, she made her feet hit the cold, wooden floor to cut on some lights. She squinted as the bright light invaded the shadowy room; it seemed much more inviting to her now. She made her way to her creaky bed again and sat on it, surveying her large bags scrutinously.
Perhaps I need to put some of this stuff up; that may distract me for a while, she thought to herself.
She reached for one of her bags--the one she grabbed contained her violin, which she wanted to take with her to America. She felt as if this was the little bit of home she brought with her; it had been the very violin she was given when her grandfather died. Relana decided to open the bag and take out the violin case, just to look at it. She popped open the case and stared into the amber depths of the violin; the wooden aroma greeted her warmly. Smiling, she took it gently by the neck and plucked at one of the strings with her finger. It made a lovely sound that made her want to play.
So, she brought the violin to rest upon her chin and began to play. It was a soft, uplifting tune that she made up as she went; she made hundreds of songs that she never wrote down and played by the random picking of notes. As she played, the music began to speak to her, telling its own story.
The Irish girl reminisced of a small mermaid. The mermaid had lost her family to a bunch of violent sailors, who thought of them as monsters. She wept in misery as she travelled the seas, not seeming to care where the current took her. Then, she met a merman. At this point, the tune became a bit faster. The merman fell in love when he saw her; it was love at first sight. The mermaid also fell in love with the merman; now, Relana stood up and played loudly. She was rejuvinated by the wonderful music that she played.
She broke off after a few more minutes of playing, smiling brightly. "Ach, that was wonderful," she said to herself, putting the violin down in its case delicately. Her mind felt much clearer now; her worries melted away when she played her violin.
Now, she thought, perhaps I can sleep. Instead of cutting the light off, she left it on as she tucked herself under the covers.

Day 3 Afternoon
------------------------
Relana breathed in heavily as Glaucus set her down on the bench; she was trying her hardest to stay calm in her strange situation. She dare not look down at her feet--she was too terrified to see how deformed they had become now.
"What if I'm stuck at the point where I can't walk anymore? What if I have....Flipper-feet?!" she thought lucridly, not wanting an answer to her question. If that were to happen....
Relana took in a sharp breath as her upper thighs burned on each side. She didn't want to look, but the pain was so acute, she couldn't help it.
A strange, black blob of scales whipped around the outer sides of her thighs. It looked as if someone had gone across her legs with a black marker, trying to draw a long, bold line. Only, there was an empty space of her pale skin in the middle that resembled an ellipse.
"What is this?" she frowned, pondering to herself.

Relana had changed more drastically then anyone else. Glaucus knew it was his fault. He never, ever should have asked to go in the water. All he needed was to pop in and out, and cool down. A now she had half flipper feet and blue scales nearly covering her legs. “Relana I’m sorry…” “Maybe we should go inside and get you something cold to ease the swelling?”
The pains, which he had put out of his mind after they arrived, came back tenfold; the feeling was horrible, almost unbearable, almost as if his bones in his lower arms were splintering. Glaucus’s attention was reverted to his spine, which began to feel like someone had tried to stretch him out. Glaucus winced and he tried to put these pains out of his mind. Only to be rewarded with agony in two spots on his forehead.
He knew it was coming but he wanted to suppress it for as long as he could, Relana was the victim here, he needed to be here for her. He could not be flailing about when she needed attention. And speaking of attention, Relana’s eyes snapped to her legs, as Glaucus braced for another drastic change.

"Oh..." She murmured to herself, her mind clouded in pain. She could barely comprehend what Glaucus said to her. All her mind concentrated on was the agony that had enveloped her.
She was developing flipper-like feet. She noticed that some of her toes had fused together to make a horrifically disfigured, lumpy...she wasn't sure what they were. The only thing that set well on her mind was the fact that her toenails were absorbed rather than falling off.
She gritted her teeth harder than she ever remembered as she put her shaking hands over her mouth, trying to suppress a scream. Her eyes squinted shut, tears of pain flowing freely; the toe-like appendages were lengthening and tapering off at the ends. Bright blue scales continued to race up her legs, masking her pale flesh.
The toe-like appendages seemed to stop growing for a moment; Relana let out a whimper as the pain receded, opening her eyes to look at what had happened. Then, as if it were waiting for her to think it was all over, it began again. A bright, yellow webbing stretched itself over the spaces between the "toes". She gaped in shock, much too absorbed in her strange feet to feel three slits open on each side of her neck.

Relana’s transformation had not yet finished. Still she writhed in agony as her feet turned into flippers. While the changes appalled Relana, and somewhat disconcerted Glaucus, he was also moved. Her new black lines and her blue scales were beautiful. Those thoughts of beauty were banished when Relana’s gills broke through.
Luckily, Glaucus noted that they didn’t completely open up, but they were also non-functional. What did concern him beyond her feelings of the transformation was her locomotion was going to be extremely difficult. Fearing for her safety, Glaucus picked her up again and pushed the door open. He carried her into her living room and placed her on he couch, he sat on the floor in front of her.
Still crushed with guilt, Glaucus asked her, “Is there anything I can get you, a glass of water, some ice? Anything?”

Relana was completely exhausted from her stressful ordeal. Her eyes were closed; the light was far too harsh outside. She was slightly aware of Glaucus picking her up and setting her down on something comfy. Her scales raked against the fabric she laid upon strangely, as if they were trying to cling to it.
She heard Glaucus speak to her faintly.
"...anything I can get....Anything?"
Relana shook her spinning head slightly. The natural endorphins in her body were kicking in; she was somewhat numb at the moment.
"But," she thought darkly, "I won't be in a few hours."
"No," she said softly, "I'm....I think I'm okay. Just...some time and I'll be okay. But, Glaucus...." She suddenly remembered the shell that he had given to her was still at the beach. "Glaucus...I left the pretty shell you gave me."
Then, as if on cue, Relana's cell phone rang. The ring tone cut through her fuzzy mind like a knife. She knew it was probably her mother, checking up on her. Yet, she didn't feel like talking to her mother at the moment. All she needed was a few minutes of recuperation, not her mother blabbering on in a mixture of Gaelic and English.
Relana shivered violently; she didn't know if it was the stress response from her ordeal or from the sudden blast of air conditioning on her warm body, but she felt terribly sick all of a sudden. She put her hands on her forehead, trying to push back the wave of nausea that washed over her.
"Glaucus," she managed to choke out, "maybe a glass of water, please. I'm...I'm gonna be sick, I think."

“Don’t worry I’ll get you another shell...tomorrow.” Glaucus said hopefully.
Relana looked terrible. Besides her “afflicted areas” her skin showed immense paleness, almost as if she were going to vomit, nausea he could tell. Glaucus felt compelled to help her and he nearly tripped over himself to get her water when she requested it.
Glaucus got water form the sink and looked under her sink for a large bucket. He came back into her living room with an empty bucket and set it beside the couch. He hoped she wouldn’t need to use it, but he placed it there nonetheless.
But he wasn’t all right either. His arms were killing him and his spine still burned. His head felt cleft and in spite of his concern for Relana, Glaucus could take it no more. “Relana? Can I use the bathroom??” he said with all the dignity he could muster.

"Thank you so much, Glaucus," she said quietly, struggling to sit up. She sipped the water slowly; if she did it too fast, it was a guarantee she'd get sick.
"Yes," Relana responded to Glaucus' question. "But," she looked at him dazedly, "you don't look so well, yourself. Are...you going to be okay? You don't feel dehydrated again, do you?" Now that her legs were done sprouting scales for the moment (not to mention that the pain had subsided to a dull throb), she became slightly worried over Glaucus' well being. She wondered if he was suffering from heat stroke.
