Brother Williams, of The Souls, sat in a chair at a large wooden round table, studying the deep secrets of the universe. He was old, having lived almost one-hundred fifty years; and he was only human. He took a sip of his dark red wine, picking up on a new spell. He had read about something coming up once again in the lands, something that he knew Ark or one of the others would take to. He wished to help them, but he was quite busy... a Balor, one of the Lord Demon types in the Nine Hells, was conjuring up something of his own; and in a way, he *was* helping them. For there were two fronts to be faught, and this was one of them...

The two walked into a three story tall library, shifting staicases connecting it to other dimension doors. There were no platforms for the doors, so it seemed as if they needed to pick the right moment to walk through, many robed figures walking down the moving staircases. There were lines and lines of knowledgable texts, and many floating bookshelves along with them. "Williams! How are you doing lately?" Kreggins asked, walking over to the large wooden table that the robed man sat at. The place was very luxurious, very beautiful in nature. And suddenly Kreg was holding a bowl of grapes, freshly picked they seemed! Very strange because no one had come to give them to him.

Aspen walked behind him, not quite sure what to make of her new surroundings. She had spent very little time out of the Hook Coast, and absolutely none at all outside of her plane. Something about the whole thing made her uneasy, and she struggled to maintain her composure. "I... take it we're in the Demi-Plane?" Aspen asked, looking about at the strange and alien sights around her. In all her wildest dreams, she had not imagined leaving the Prime Material, but here she was... leaving the Prime Material. It was an almost overwhelming thought, but she watered it down within her. "I also should ask... why chose to take me here? What could come of this?"

"We needed to get away, and it is easy to pass from this realm to anywhere on the Material Plane much faster. Plus it's nice to visit my old home once in a while. As for bringing you; you're my new adventuring partner! this is a good base of opperations that we can store all of our treasure in and come back to for resources." The halfling said, eating a few more grapes. "Want some?"
"Hello Kreggins! It has indeed been quite a while, has it not? Two years in the least. Nice to see you again, friend." Williams exclaimed, looking up from his work, "How did living the normal life work out?" "Not so good; too boring" Kreg replyed, "I'm sorry to hear that, what happened?" The robed man asked "I became too bored! That and the old shaby town I was staying in was gonna burn her at the stake. Old way-ers they were. So I stepped in, and now I'm back in the adventure bussiness!" Kreg exclaimed, grinning; his face mask-hood now taken off. His face was a bit childish looking, though he has stuble and a long slash from a sword from his cheek to his ear.

"Your new... adventuring partner?" Aspen repeated, blinking. "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but... I'm absolutely abysmal at 'adventuring.' I have no skills with any weapon, save for the mace, and no abilities save for healing powers that I don't even understand that well. And not only that, but most civilised areas I visit see me as a mentally unstable heretic and try to have me killed, much as the mob back at that city tried to." She shook her head to the grapes, and said, "I'd be much more of a burden than any aid at all, really."

"They can train you!" Kreg said exitedly, not minding her apparent destress, "and that 'city' back there lass was no city at all, it was very small by most standards. They also followed the old ways. Most of the Northern region, or any bigger city, allows all types of people into their gates. Think about it! You could preach the word of your creator, and gain a bit of cash while your at it! You could likely help these Lords of Dust as well, with your funds!" The over exited halfling exclaimed, chewing on some more grapes.

Aspen blinked, considering carefully, and nodded. "That... actually seems like a decent plan. If I could do as you say, gaining followers and funding... why, I could bring the Lords of Dust back! And..." her metallic blue eyes gleamed. "I could later go back to Veridia Delta and kick that Garrison's a** for burning down the temple! They'll learn that Xillixanna, though dead, can be just as vengeful as any other living god!" She nodded exuberantly. "Very well, you have yourself an adventuring partner!"

Kreg Grinned exitedly, almost hopping up and down in his chair. His bowl of grapes dissapeared suddenly, as if he dissmissed them, and he got up. "We can start tommorow!" he said, hopping up a bit. "There are rooms we can use for the night, for the time being. Follow me, if you will." Kreg ran over to a staircase and began to climb up them, as they shifted and aim into a doorway; green and translucent. It led into a long corridor, with many dorm rooms where they could sleep. He opened two doors and walked into one, leaving the other for her.

Such was Aspen's sudden excitement over the prospect of the Lords of Dust rising up once more that she could scarcely have time to be shocked, surprised or confused about the events that followed, and she entered the room almost without thinking, closing the door behind her. She stood there for a moment or so, and a wild grin came to her face. Hurridly, she stole the pins from her hair, letting the mass of curls fall about her shoulers, whipping into her face and every which way that was possible. She fell to her knees, closing her eyes and clasping her pendant tightly. "Xillixanna... I shall not fail you!"

Kreg woke up the next morning and put on his thick cloth armor, plates of leather sewed in to it. He already has his dagger on him, which always seemed to be somewhere on him, so all he had to do was ruffle up his hair back to its puffed up curly state. He suddenly remembered his new life again, grinning widely he got up, already a bowl of grapes in his hand as he walked down the twisting corridors to The Core library. He chose the long way so he could finish the grapes before he had breakfast, however large the bowl had been; bigger than his head. The roguish little man entered the rather large; actually huge room, and began to climb stairs, waiting for the fanatic of an unknown god to wake up. He was soon at the top, a large platform that held many magic making devices, scrolls, books, potions and potion making bottles, and the like.

Aspen awoke after a few hours, moody as she always was in the mornings... or whatever you could call them in a demiplane. Ever since she was a child, she had an unbearable time getting up, and this time was no different. With a grumble, she managed to land directly on her face beside the bed, laying there for a moment. "That hurt somewhat..." she muttered to herself, before placing her palms on the cold floor and standing upright. She closed her eyes and sighed, rubbing her forehead irritably, and brushed her eyelid with a finger. She opened her eyes to see the dark purple smudge on her skin, and frowned. Her posessions had been taken from her when she'd been imprisoned by that stupid little now-crispy town, and thus she would be berift of her cosmetics for the time being. Ah, well. The only reason she really wore any was because purple was said to be a colour favoured by Xillixanna, but it wasn't mandatory. After some searching about of the room, she was able to locate a cloth which she used to remove the rest of the stuff from her face. Once the task was done with, she glanced down at the cloth, only to notice two initials on the edge of it; C.K. She blinked, then set it aside with disdain. What did it matter to her if someone had their precious little initials on a cloth she had used for the moment? With that done with, she worked to fix her impossibly curly hair again, finally managing it after about half an hour of struggling with her untamable locks. Having finished with her awakening, Aspen opened the door slowly, eyes flicking from one side of the hall to the next, and exited the room. She started off in what she believed was the direction she had come from, wondering dully if her new halfling "companion" had decided to leave her there or not.

He ran down the steps, jumping from one moving staircase to another as he danced about absent mindedly, practicing his acrobatics as he did. He landed silently and lightly on the ground, his cloak waving up and then slowly down as he stood up. "Hmmm" he said, walking over to the table and hopping up to the human sized chair, another bowl of grapes appearing on the table in front of him. He pulled the heavy bowl onto his lap and began to gorge himself, stuffing handfulls of the stuff in his mouth. A half-hour passed since he had the feeling it was time to go back down from the top platform. He watched as several bluish green rimmed, clear portals open up from the beginning of that spance in time, Soul's Members walked through and back out, books in and out of their hands. He liked them for the fact of how secret--and successful in secrets--they were, and how knowledgable they were. They were even able to teach him some cantrips from the two years he was part of their 'family' no one ever left the family either, exept that one time... that one... "b*****d" he said to himself, looking off into the distance. By chance he was looking at a dwarf, who was staring right back, now angry. "What did ye say, boy-o? Ye want to be part o' me halfling stew, ye say?" He said, approaching him. Great, it was a blood-fire dwarf too! He looked from side to side, hopping off the chair and running off, flailing his arms and legs wide as he threw the bowl, large to him as it was, aside. "Gahh!" he slured, pulling open a door and rushing through the portal. It was the hallway his and Aspen's rooms were in, and he was glad the alchemist only was trying to scare him, not following him into the hallway. He saw the priestess of the unknown god, Seeing her walk out. "Hullo!" he exitedly said, walking up to her; reforming his experienced stance.

Aspen practically jumped as the halfling approached her, having been looking in the opposite direction at the time. Recognition suddenly set in for her, however, and she raised a hand halfway in greeting. "Hello," she said, her voice the monotone she had mastered so well over the years. Though she would never admit to it, this place still made her completely uneasy, not only for the fact that it was removed from the world she was accustomed to, but there was just something about it that gave her the creeps. Even as the thought this, she couldn't find a reason why, and so tried to push the notion out of her head. After all, what was there to fear from a location? The only thing anyone should be wary of is the inhabitants of said location. Before she could do anything more, however, there came muffled shouts from a distance away. She tilted her head to the side slightly, trying to hear whatever the yells and - from what she gathered from the tone of the noise- threats could be, but to no avail. With a mental shrug, she turned back to the halfling. "And... how art thou on this day... or night... or whatever it is?"

"Pretty well... I guess" Kreg said, remembering the dwarf. "What do ya say we get going on that adventure we've been talking about?" He moved off, toward the door he came from. "So, do you have a weapon? Because you'll need one, I'm sure. And besides that, we need to stock up on a few things." Kreggins adjusted his face mask, ruffling his short hair before he checked himself, seeming to check a few things off. He had a small bag with him, along with several pouches on his belt. "I think I'm ready, exept for the potions we need to pick up. How about you?" He asked, walking through the large main chamber. The bowl on the floor was fine, so he picked it up, Nothing was on the floor, and as he turned it over, the grapes showed that they hadn't even fallen out! He continued to eat them while he walked with her, toward the West Wing.

"I had a weapon, back in the town that burned down, but the guards had confiscated it. I had no time to retrieve it, between being nearly burned by a mob of angered villagers and leaving for this... demiplane," she said, following behind the halfling. "My other possessions were also taken from me. I have nothing but what I am wearing." Almost as an afterthought, she raised her hand to touch the small amethyst necklace at her throat again, as though checking to see if it had somehow disappeared. It was the only thing she had of any monetary value, but to her, it was priceless beyond compare. The only material thing she would die for. "Where did you have in mind for this... ah... adventure?" she asked, thrusting her mind back into the present. Preferably, it would be some place where she could spread about the word of Xillixanna and the Lords of Dust. After all, that was the only reason she was agreeing to this; for the sake of the goddess. She had only a few years left before she had to take her own life, and wanted to get as much done for the goddess as possible.
