In the episode that shows the flashback of Zuko's mother, what did she tell him.
I was spacing out and only heard "Whatever I did, I did it all for you"

this is what she says:
Zuko, please, my love, listen to me. Everything I?ve done, (she hugs him) I've done to protect you. Remember this Zuko. No matter how things may seem to change, never forget who you are.

Why? eek

You mean why Ursa killed Azulon? It's a long story, but here it goes:

After Iroh's failure at Ba Sing Se, but before he returned home, Ozai (Zuko's father, current Fire Lord) asked his father, Fire Lord Azulon, to revoke Iroh's birth right as Fire Lord. Azulon told Ozai that he must "know the pain of losing a first born son, by sacrificing own!"

Ursa, Zuko's mother, killed Azulon so Ozai wouldn't have to kill Zuko (to protect him). Also, Ozai became fire lord, as it was, supposidly, Azulon's dying wish.

YOU PEOPLE! [no offense intended]
Ursa could not do something as horrible as killing some one! What I believed happned was, Azulon was going to kill Zuko, but Ursa sacrificed herself insted. as for who killed or if he was killed Azulon, I don't have a theory on that.

i'll explain my 3 theories.
1. zuko's mother murdered the fire lord and was running away.
2. zuko's mother offered to be killed in his place
3. Agni Kai. zuko's mom won, but the fire lord died. so she was to be exiled.
these are just my opinions.

I thought it seemed kind of obvious she killed Azulon. She left the morning after he was discovered dead, and with the whole "that's what mothers do to protect their young" with Zuko and the turtle ducks.

Why couldn't she have killed Azulon? We don't know anything about her character at all other than she's fiercly loyal to Zuko which would explain her actions perfectly. I don't think being killed in Zuko's place really works since Azulon specifically said the pain of losing the first born son, not a wife, and besides it doesn't explain who killed Azulon.
