Final Fantasy IV in the US saw the introduction to summons. Since thier introduction they have appeared in nearly every Final Fantasy game since then called various things. In IV it was summons, in VI it was Espers, in VII there was no name it was just Summon Materia, in VIII it was GF's in IX it was Eidolons and in X it was Aeons. So I pose the question as to what are your top five favorite summons and why?.
Final Fantasy 4 Summons
Ashura, Odin, Bahamut, Shiva, Jinn (aka Ifrit), Choco (chocobo), D. Mist,
Leviathan, Titan, Ramuh
Final Fantasy 6 Espers
Ramuh, Kirin, Siren, Stray, Ifrit, Shiva, Unicorn, Maduin, Shoat, Phantom, Carbuncle, Bismark, Golem, Zoneseek, Sraphim, Palidor, Fenrir, Tritoch, Terrato, Starlet, Alexander, Pheonix, Odin, Bahamut, Crusader, Ragnarok, Raiden.
Final Fantasy 7 Summons

1) Bahamut - He is one of the summons who has been in every single game and ontop of that he appeared in the original final fantasy to give you the class upgrades. I am obssessed with dragons as well which makes Bahamut my favorite summon.
2) Shiva - Another summon who has appeared in every final fantasy game with summons. While she may be one of the weaker summons I still love her because mainly how she looks.
3) Ifrit - Yet again another summon who has been in them all however I do not like his Jinn appearance from two I prefer the appearence he took on when he became Ifrit in 7. I like him because of his appearance and im a pyro so a fire demon it just fits.
4) Tonberry - I love these guys.. I dont like fighting them lol but I love them. They are in my opinion one of the cutest creatures in the final fantasy universe. That and there looks are so decieving there nasty little exclaim
5) Alexander - A summon that has appeared in most of the games I just love the look to him a machine with giant feathered angel wings and one of the most powerful summons in the games that contain him.

5. Alexander-he is a castle the can totally PWN you!!! heart
4. Ifrit- I have a thing for FIRE! burning_eyes
3. Shiva- She is always pretty looking (best ex. from FFX) heart heart
2. All 3 Bahamuts from FFVII- Whats not to love about a dragon heart
1. Knights of the Round- coupled with QudraMagic and mimic will overpower even the strongest of weapons.
