The late-night wind blew over the undersized space of rented property, and John flipped his plastic sign to inform the masses that his business was finally open. Though fully aware that Crosshaven had it's own bar and therefore his cliental would begin in moderate numbers, he anxiously awaited his first customer. He had to make money somehow and the only thing he really knew was drinking and dining. Besides, even if there was some competition, he had an idea that his was the only place which facilitated alcoholic consumption that was open late and sold a variety of grilled foods. It would just be a matter of time before he was accepted into the natural flow of the Crosshaven economy. Or so Big John thought...

The night had been unsurprisingly empty, yet John was still determined to make his bar a success. In the morning he walked around the town and nailed flyers to every spot which caught his eye. Afterwards he went back to his shop and fell asleep on one of the two couches he had set up as comfortable lounging. He had little to no money and what he did have was left over from the prior loan he used to start up his friendly little hole in the wall. If he failed in his venture, he would either be forced onto the streets, or he would have to get a job elsewhere. A man once said that if you do not have the mindset to make your own business, then undoubtedly you work for someone who does. It was with this line of reasoning that Jonathon Turner fell asleep in his near hollow future.

~She pushes her way inside, badly wanting a drink, but not wanting to head back in the direction of her workplace. She heads for the bar, and almost reaches behind it, not thinking....
She looks like she's been awake for about 48 hours, but other than the strain of sleeplessness, she has a pretty face. Something is worrying her, tugging on the corners of her lips and sagging her large eyes. She waves at the only other man in sight, and digs in her pocket for gold.~
Whiskey, please...
I'm Rose. I work for Daniel's tavern. Don't tell him I'm patronizing the competition. ~she winks, but it's a tired gesture.~

Resurfacing quickly from another night's tedious delusions, John's eyes widen eagerly with the reception of his first client. In an instant he was behind the bar tossing and turning his metallic canisters and producing a glass of "John's special" whiskey on the rocks. After evaluating the underlying expression weighing down upon his patron's face he decided to place a can of red bull next to the glass, "On the house," as well as offering a kind and understanding smile. Almost over-enthusiastically he queried, "Hungry?" This interestingly peculiar woman had become an extension of his immediate concerns, and as such the former question was promptly followed by, "Penny for your thoughts darlin’?"

~She smiles, almost wistfully, and cradles the glass in her hand, nursing it slowly.~
Never unloaded on a bartender before. Never wanted to be like one of those pathetic chicks that roll into Daniel's tavern and pay him to listen. But if there's one thing I trust, it's the wisdom of bartenders. ~She makes a terrible face after taking a sip of whiskey, but looks like she feels good after it.~
So, my boyfriend just brought someone back from the dead.
He's a healer. That's his gift. And every time he uses his gift, he brings himself one big step closer to his own grave. But he can't stop using it. Because he's too good a man. He's on borrowed time. And I have to act like everything's fine, act like I'm not scared he's going to keel over any time. It's a b***h.
I feel like the past is closing in on me. Like there's something looming over my head and ready to crumble in on me. I've got secrets I haven't told him still---hell, haven't told anyone.
I'm starting to scare myself with all the secrets.
So, what's your story? You can tell me. I have experience on the other side of the bar, which qualifies me to hear just about anything and not judge....
