I figured this would be a good topic for the discussion forum now that I have a few details.

A few months back, I heard rumors of a fifth Highlander movie in the works. And now, as of August 2006, the movie is apparently in post production. It's called Highlander: The Source and stars Adriam Paul, Peter Wingfield, and Jim Byrnes...the actors behind Duncan MacLeod, Methos, and Joe Dawson from Highlander: The Series.

From what I've been able to put together, the world has fallen into chaos...almost a post apocalyptic type thing...set in the future, obviously. Anyway, Duncan, Methos, and Dawson go off on a quest to find the first of the Immortals, and discover the Source of their immortality. Whether or not the movie will culminate in someone winning the prize is yet to be seen, but some vague hints in that regard have been given.

Right now, it's not certain whether the source whill be released in movie theaters or will go direct to video, but I'll certainly be keeping an eye out.

Any thoughts?

And while you're mulling that over, check out this picture of Methos in action in the new movie:

Hmmm, fifth movie? I hadn't heard of it honestly, which isn't surprising to be truthful, though I look forward to it, I'd like to see how they do it really. As long as it's not a repeat of the second movie I'll be happy! 3nodding

Heh. I don't think they'll EVER do a repeat of the second movie. It's one of those things like Galactica 1980, where the majority of fans would prefer to pretend it never happened. mrgreen

As for the Source, I got bored one day while working at Canon, and started browsing Wikipedia for Highlander tidbits to get me through the day and stumbled onto the article. I checked for the first time in months yesterday, and found they'd updated a bit.

Oh, one more thing. In a tidbit on the Source on the IMDB site, Duncan apparently has a pet monkey in the movie named Connor. rofl

A pet monkey? Isn't that kinda insulting to the poor dead dude?

Not really...before Endgame, whenever Connor and Duncan got together, they were always ragging on one another. As long as Duncan doesn't behead the monkey or anything, it shouldn't be too insulting...

Behead the monkey? *shiver* I could see some idiot doing that just to tick him off though....

Yeah, but it would have to be a pretty dumb bad guy who would kill a monkey just to aggravate Duncan. It could still happen though, but the Immortal who does it would be an idiot like those two doofuses with the wooden eye in Pirates of the Carribean. rofl

Based on the spoilers I've heard for the movie I have very little interest in seeing it.

Truthfully I'd have rather they did a new Reimganing of Highlander with an entirely new MacLead than doing a sequal to Endgame.

And if the spoilers are true about the movie ending with Duncan as a Mortal training his teenage son to take his place in the game I'll be really annoyed.

I just feel the Duncan Timeline has been flogged to death and needs to be abandoned in favor of something new and less damaged.

It's supposed to have a September 2007 release.
You can read the entire movie plot on Wikipedia and I'd rather just see the movie anyway. Highlander is all about being crap, but in the good way.
I do wish they could breathe some new life into the franchise though. And I do worship Adrian Paul (and Peter Wingfield and Stan Kirsch, though he won't be in this one).

"My friend" saw a pirated copy of this movie and there is no monkey. But according to the movie's official website, it's also the first in a trilogy. Maybe that is a bit like beating a dead horse, but any chance we get to see Duncan and Methos, who cares?

The premise of tragic immortality is what keeps the franchise going. Even if the execution sucks. mrgreen Anything to see Adrian and Peter again, eh? Highlander is supposed to be a little like beating the dead horse, yet we fans continue to love every minute.... especially me, who took fencing to learn how to wield a sword. 4laugh

Heehee, never took fencing, just found a couple theatre friends who happened to have an arsenal of pointy toys and the skills to use them biggrin

I'm interested in seeing this movie, I'm not sure I'll like it but hey, it's got Methos, that's all I need! The movie could be three hours of Methos sprawling and I'd pay to see it...again .... and again... and again.... biggrin
