Pyralis and Shin venture forth... Pyralis' 5th Stage RP
Stepping off of CWL's porch led them into the quiet stillness of the night. Ahead the forest seemed ominously alive, yet silent with the intake of breath before its impending release. Solid patches of darkness cluttered in every direction, reaching inky claws into the night sky.
Below, weeds extended like cracks in the earth along the ground of a barely visible route through the trees and underbrush. Long grass grew in eclectic patches randomly dispersed amongst avaliable soil. There was little that wasn’t disheartening, for this path, as eerie its placement, disappeared into the darkness far ahead.
The faint indigo glow of Shin's wispy aura stood out like a beacon as he floated forward towards, then in and amongst the trees. It was no stretch of the imagination to see how such lights could have easily lured hopeful men to their deaths...

Pyralis saw nothing but Shin's glow, not having enough energy to spare for fire to watch the ground by. Instead she walked slowly, letting her feet feel their way through the treacherous terrain. She desperately wanted to reach Wagosh and the hope for answers and a solution she offered, but the windigo knew that if she fell too hard on this journey she might not stand to resume it. The distasteful notion of dying so close to her goal slowed her steps and made her careful, keeping a balance of caution and progress as best she could.

The night passed slowly for Shin, who stayed a few yards ahead of Pyralis to let his glow illuminate the twisted path between the thinning trees. He was silent, staying focused on the innate pull of deep magic guiding him with an intense concentration.
The night air had slowly gotten crisp during their wanderings, as only high elevations could bring it to be. A light snow had fallen, though he barely noticed the flakes that passed through his vaporous form. He barely acknowledged the passing time until the seeping glow of dawn began to break on the horizon.
When the first ray pierced his aura Shin stopped in place. After a moment's pause he sent an image to Pyralis.

It was a map, one that showed where they had started and where they were headed - though Wagosh's certain location was unknown.

Each step wrapped the cold around her tighter, leeching what heat she still had from her form. She wondered idly if she might lose so much her skin would harden in place, leaving her thinking and feeling inside a statue's shell.
The sun's rays and the map Shin sent her both awoke her from the night's stupor, and she thought on it as she tried to blink the mist from her eyes. She was hungry for resolution, and as she warmed she felt herself wanting to move.
"Shall we run?" she asked the aura. "I want to cover as much ground as possible while under the sun."

The aura paused, as if taken aback by the request. Shin sent Pyralis an image of a rugged man with a plaid shirt and coveralls, a shotgun in one hand resting against his shoulder.
(we should really try to catch each other online sometime, so we can do this rapidfire instead of post-by-post sweatdrop What times are you avaliable? For me, its Mon, Wed, and Fri usually, with occasional weekend times.)

She cocked her head, the picture eliciting an odd memory. "Why would the Bounty paper towel man be here?"
((I work full time, so I don't get home until about 7pm every week day. Other than that, whenever is good for you.))

Shin hummed, amused. Then he painstakingly sent a choppy frame-by-frame collage of the Bounty Paper towel man taking his shotgun and aiming at the viewer, firing point blank.
((Can we set an rp-date for this wednesday at 8pm then? Are you in the PST timezone?))

Pyralis blinked. "That man does strange things in his off time." she muttered under her breath.
Shaking her head, she took a few steps forward to stand in a patch of sunlight while they spoke. "You're worried about hunters, hmm? Don't most game animals come out at dusk and dawn? We could go carefully until the light becomes stronger and then race."
((EST, but yes, 8pm Wed would work.))

(...hah. Who's the idiot who thought that est was BEHIND pst by three hours? Oh wait, that's me.
I suck, and am very sorry ._. I just got my info clarified.)
With a token Vibration of Disapproval Shin sent Pyr a green light, then floated forward at a slower pace through the sparsely forested, rocky section of their journey.
It wasn't going to be his fault if the overeager, uppity windigo got shot in the face.

She picked her way along carefully, trying to be as aware of sound and movement around as her as she could without making too much herself. She was itching to just get moving. "How will we know when we're close?"
((S'okay, but I had to go to sleep. xp ))

Shin paused, figured the issue needed to be addressed, and floated back around Pyr. He sent her an image of himself in aura form. With a gentle push on his essence, he trailed a sharp chill up her spine. Then he showed her an image of himself again, reacting by waving his undulating his airy tendrals.
He waited a moment, before sending her an image of a sunset, then a sunrise, followed by another sunset.
((between being 'need to be in bed resting' sick, starting a new job, and the windigo reopening, I'm a tad preoccupied ._. <~ excuse for blatant idiocy However, I need to place a higher importance on this too since it is already started. I'll check the thread once a day and post when I do. *hates being flaky*))

"You'll -we'll? - feel it, and react, and it will take us this day and the next?" she translated, wanting always to make sure she'd understood. Things were a little hazy in her mind, these days. She nodded, gritting her teeth and continuing on. She hoped she could make it that long.
They went in silence for some time, while Shin thought whatever it was that occupied his mind and Pyralis worked up the courage to ask him a question he was sure he'd hold against her. Thank goodness the sun was on her. "Shin? If I die now... will it just be the body that dies or will I go too?"
((Don't worry about it - we'll get through!))

Shin didn't bother to clarify himself, since she'd got the general jist of what he was trying to say. He'd just let her know when he could feel Wagosh's magic being worked on them, since he was sure the ancient would know they were coming before they would get within a mile of her location.
When Pyr spoke up again, he was surprised at the question. Had the few years of being in a body made her forget their rebirth-based existence? Their species was ancient - they'd all lived and died in a body before. He supposed the knowledge could be swept away in favor of the new lifestyle brought about by a body, and the intricasies of relearning how to exist.
He began with a picture of Pyralis as she was - flame haired and stone skinned, then morphed it into a beautiful flaming aura.
He ended it with a picture of his own dead host, lying rotting amongst the leaves, and then an image of himself as he was - a dark, rich indigo aura.
One of Shin's abilities in aura form is that he can sense the essence of magic. The other is that he can create chills within a foot of his aura. Most windigo can't sense other windigo (because current windigo are only technically half windigo (shimenj), but a full windigo (the Misenz aka Ancients) can sense other windigo), though a bonded windigo can sense their ancient. However, Shin is unaware at this point that Pyralis is not actually bound to Wagosh, so he's assuming she would be able to sense the ancient - except that since Ancients are more powerful he's assuming that she wouldn't be able to sense Wagosh before she worked an illusion on them.
I hope that made sense D:
