So why are the gung ho guns referred to as demons in the series? Does the manga talk more about this?

From what I recall in the manga, each traded in their humanity for their powers. Rai-Dei has a speech about it, I'll dig it out... Sometime.

Just to specify: the Gung-ho-guns aren't actually demons. I mean, genetically, they're human (except for Legato, who's only partially human thanks to having Vash's arm attached to him)
They're only metophorically demons. Not that that keeps them from being ridiculously overpowered, and totally abnormal.
