A huge city stands resolute in the dark, crumbling mountains of Morgana. Made of black and grey rock, this fortress like place is home to many of the darker aspects of life. A thrive for murder, gambling and many other unseemly sports, this alien capital(metephorically speaking) is the home for demons, reeves, scrounge, hell-callers and many other dark beings.

Scarba city. With it's huge, towering skyscrapers and spires, this is one place you
DON'T want to get lost in....

I walk down the familiar streets, the familiar sights and sounds pass me by. the beautiful streets of this horrid city are always a sight for trades people come into the area to sell their goods. me on the other hand, am used to it. the foul body oder of the beggars, the perfume of the lords and ladies. the scraggly buildings that trap us in this rather small area like lions in cages. once you get in you cant get out no matter how rich you are. the only way out is to trade, and we all know that those lords and ladies havent done an honest day of work in their lives. so only the tradesmen are the ones premitted to leave, but only for a set time or they'll come and find you you can be sure of that. for the city gaurd has rumoured to have put to work to drows in the area. thats not a good sign. the guard are up to something, everyone knows it, but no one has the guts to even think it aloud in case of discovery.suddenly a hand shot out and grabbed my ankle. i look down i suprise to see....

...a little boy, clinging on to the lady's leg for dear life, going by the name, ghost boy.(thats what he liked to call him self)but his real name was Charles. Charles hated that name. Guards were chasing him and he was soooo tired. the lady he had been clinging on to pulled part of her dress over him so he couldn't be seen. he was thankful of her. she was talking to the guards. "Hey! you there! have you seen a little boy come around here? he is a stealer!" a rough voice said. "yes i have, actualy. he went that way. moving along, guards." came the reply. "come on, lets go." the other guard said. "we won't find any thing here." they moved off, leaving Charles very scared.

Scarab wiped his blade on the dead mans cloak, his sharp, angular face unreadable. The dark, stone allyway was silent, save for the distant shouting of the marketplace, and the cold grey rocks seemed to try to suffocate him.

Scarba city was an ugly, yet strangly beautiful city. The ground level was overrun with beggers, market stalls, diseased bodies, trash and rats, while the tall spires and skyscrapers reach up above, almost reaching for the stars in an alien radience.

The ground level was a place of murder, deceit, plauge and poverty. The deep, dusty red-brown sky seemed to alos convey the city's sinister nature. So all in all, Scarba wasn't suprised to fin himself in the rougest district in the town.

Standing to his feet, he slipped the handle of his small, shuriken like blade around a pieve of leather attached to his belt. His soft, padded boots made no sound as he stepped over the immobile body at his feet.

Time to collect the payment.

Scarab walked unhindered through the marketplace. As soon as people saw the large, menicing beetle inscribed on his deep blue cloak, they casually skirtedaround him, hugging pots and goods to chests. Scarab's reputation was well known in Scarba.

Zeela was annoyed. She was sent on this absurd quest to find one of the rare moo-moons. She had no idea whether moo-moons really existed! The quest, she mused, was stupid....her wings were really tired and she wanted a rest. That was why she was annoyed. Now she was REALLY annoyed. The reason? It had just started raining and she was now soaked. Zeela looked around and was surprised to see a cave, just to her right. She flew in, glad to get out of the rain. She created a fairy light so she could see in the cave. What she saw was amazing. There was a giantic pile of gold and jewels, right in front of her. She lent against a wall of the cave and considered what to do. If she stayed here, she would probably get in trouble from the owner of the riches. If she went out she wouldn't get a chance to get dry.

(i cant think of anything else so there!)

Elepon buffed the nails of one hand on on jacket, checking them for the slightest trace of dirt. Of course, getting dirt in your fingernails was rather difficult to avoid when in the mountains.

The steady drum of water continued on as the rain outside poured down mercyifully. Hours ago he had found that trying to excactilly time when the next drop would fall from the eaves of the cave was entertainment that very quickly became boring. But Elepon was a patiant kind of person. He could wait days just for someone to turn up.
Which, coinsedently he had been doing.

Dusk was falling now. Elepon's foot bobbed to the tuneless humming he repeated over and over as he picked at his fingernails. Little flecks off skin were peeling off the sides of his fingers, he noticed. The area around them was red and sore. After about ten minutes, he moved on to pushing the quick back to it's base. This proved to be much more entertaining.

Then, suddenly, he heard footsteps stumbling over the rocks outside. Looking up quickly, on hand still held out in fron of him, he concentrated on the noise. Small, nimble feet, slipping and sliding.
Quickly, he rose to his feet, mind probing ahead. Then, realising that this was an ample oppertunety to do something more than study in depth his nails, Elepon sliped like a shadow to the back of the ladden cave.

A girl clambed into the cave, soaking wet with a dripping grey cloak wrapped around her small head. From her shoulder blades quivvered thin, insect like wings. Elepon's eyebrows rose. Fairy.
The fairy girl held out her hand, and a glowing blue light cast dancing shadows along the cave. She gasped as she took in the site of the gold and treasure. Elepon tensed his muscles. Their had been alot of people in the past who had stumbled upon the treasure of the mercenary and his colleuges.

Elepon crossed his legs as he lent across the rocky cave wall, and procedded to chew on a nail. "Take what you want, but I advised you to run when you're done."

Scarab yawned, stretching his arms out wide.
It was a rather pleasent day in the city of Scarba. The red clouds that usually stained the sky had almost all blown away, leaving large gaps of blue and grey sky. The sun was shinning down for once, and puddles of raind glissened in the cobbled streets from the night before.

Children ran in the streets and men and their wives shouted out "bargan prices" as Scarab walked down the streets.

Looking out the corner of his eye, he noticed the city Guards watching him with a close eyes, hands on weapons. He waved at them, grinning, then turned back and swore under his breath. Guards were just objects that got in your way.

The large tower lumed in Scarab's way as he padded along the streets in his soft, silent boots. Finally, reaching the tall, spiring tower, Scarab kicked the door open, and walked in, feeling desidivly pissed.

A sudden movement caught his eye, something flittering down the alley behind him and the tower. He stood still, watching to see if there was anyone there. No one. Shrugging, he walked deeper into the round room, and slammed the door behind him.

Grunting, Scarab pushed Zrutha off himself - not too hard, mind - and sat up, whiping the dirt off his breaches. "Having fun?" he grumbled, checking to see if his wallet was still in order. Zrutha had a slightly bad habit of stealing things and playing tricks on him.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 29, 2006 3:27 am

"oh, im havin fun alright." i grinned.
that grin seemed to always make scarab nervous. i wonder why? i noticed him reaching for his wallet. "dont worry! i didnt actually plan to fall off the roof! its not like you'd plan to anyway!" i laughed

"What are you doing here?" Scarab asked rather surerly, climbing to his agile feet. "Stalking me again?"
Zrutha grinned, handing Scarab's blade to him, also getting to her feet. She brushed back her long black hair. She grinned, watching as he looped his blade around it's leather tie. "Oh yes, I stalk you everyday! It's called a job."
Scarab glared at her, but in a rather odd way, she made him feel less irritated. He looked her up and down, noticing the dust and dirt on her rather revealing dress. "You've been busy?"
PostPosted: Fri Sep 29, 2006 4:05 am

"is it ever not???" i have become accustomed to wandering eyes but i didnt expect this kind.
for scarab has always the one sitting in the corner away from everyone else, the one who whatches the croud with amusement. the silent too-cool man thats always a bit distant he has always been. but something in him seems to have changed.....

Scarab looked away rather quickly, trying to regain the previous anger. It was hard though, and he gave a sigh. Now was not the time to be peeved. He glanced at Zrutha, fingering the sharp tip of his blade. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to go somewhere." He stabbed a finger at the long line of steps that rose up the side of the stuffy, dark room, then started to pad towards it.

Zrutha followed him like an eager puppy. "Where're you going?"
Scarab glanced at her over his shoulders. "I need my money."
She stared at him, wide eyed. "YOU'VE been busy too then? More crime fighting?"

He nodded absently. "Yes, crime fighting," and continued up the stairs.
