A group of lawbreakers known as Ransom Riders, led by the Notorious Star Manson, hidden in the desert target those in high society for ransom and always return the body...alive is another matter. Alexia Russell, the heiress to a gold mine, is the next target. She resides in the typical western town known as Golden Ridge, named after the landscape at sunrise. The most well-known lawbreaker of the time is Ty 'Widowmaker' Brant. No, his nickname isn't because he kills many husbands...his charm causes the wives to leave the husbands. He has several followers, even though not all of them are all that loyal.
The lawmen of the area are at a loss considering there have been a total of 56 ransoms...and no living victims returned after the ransom was paid. Since the law can't help, they're capturing lawbreakers and cowboys alike and forcing them to aid in the ransom rescues even though so far all have ended in failure. Now, they're sights are set on Ty. Only one person has been able to catch him, even if it was only for a day.
Sheriff Julia Summers has been hired to go after her old target to capture Ty and the town of Golden Ridge will, in turn, offer Ty a pardon if he would get Alexia Russell back alive. Point being...Alexia has not yet been kidnapped and Sheriff Julia is nowhere near catching the most wanted man in the West.
