can anyone explain to me how to major in theater? There seems to be so much I have to do, like several "practicums"? I'm only a techie and have no skill with actin cause of stagefright.

Check the college websites and see what kind of majors the want. Most colleges will have a seperate audition for tech, if not a completely different major. A tech audition ususaly consists of a portfolio interview, in which you basically show off everything you've done. Pictures of previous shows, scripts, drafting, whatever. Most colleges will require an audition, or at least a statement of intent.
Don't worry too much about acting- I'm a senior going into tech so I know what you're talking about but it's really not so bad once you've got it all figured out.

Practicums are working on a show... they're well practical. At my school at least they exist in both technical and acting areas. Also don't worry too much about acting especially if you find a school with an actual Tech major. I just have to take one acting class. Let me know if you want help looking at schools. I just did the process recently myself.
