* Pet Information *

Once a Peach is ready to hatch, it will either begin to shake (generic) or glow (hybrid/mutation); these are signs that the owner must hurry back to this thread, as we require that they be present at the hatching. There are differences between male and female Kaju in both the pup and adult stages... can you spot them? Kaju pups grow into adults with time, some sooner than others. Every few days a Kaju pup will recieve a Maturity Star, and the pup will not grow until it has gained all ten stars. (Because of this feature, it is recommended that you direct link your pet until it has reached adulthood.)So... now you have a Kaju, and you're wondering how to take care of it. Well, first of all, Kaju love to eat sweet things, especially fruit-- peaches being their absolute favorite type. (NOTE: Don't even try to feed your Kaju an egg-peach rather than a real peach, unless, of course, you want your Kaju to despise you...)Kaju speak in their own language (which is really just a series of chittering and 'kyuuu' noises), although these sounds can be understood by any species of pet; only humans cannot understand it. However, once a Kaju gains five Intelligence Stars, they will be able to learn the human language in addition to keeping the knowledge of their native one. Until then, older Kaju will probably be more than happy to translate for you and your pup.

* Statistics & Effects *
Quote: Similar to many other pets, Kaju have a statistics tag on their backdrops; however, these stats, unlike those of many other said pets, actually have a purpose. Below is a list of current Kaju stats and why they're important. Besides their individual purposes, these stats will have a special effect if a Kaju is able to gain each and every star, fifty in total. More about this may possibly be released later on. PersonalityThe personality stat reflects how well you develop your Kaju via. roleplaying, and is only given away to those caught roleplaying dedicatedly in this thread. Kaju with no personality cannot breed. BeautyThe beauty statistic is useful when purchasing items for your Kaju, as some items will require a certain amount of initial beauty, whereas others will offer discounts to those who are more - or possibly less - naturally beautiful. More Beauty Stars can be purchased (via. a potion) or won (via. a beauty contest). StaminaStamina is proportional to how often your Kaju can breed, as each breeding session eats away at his or her stamina stars. More stamina can always be purchased via. potions. IntelligenceIntelligence is important because a Kaju cannot learn English until it has at least five stars. Likewise, that special something (requiring all fifty stars) will not happen. Intelligence is gained through the answering of riddles found in books (which may be purchased at the Item Shoppe). Maturity (Pups Only) The maturity stat is related to how quickly or slowly your Kaju will grow into his or her adult form, as they will not grow until all ten of their maturity stars are filled in. Kaju must also have full maturity to breed. Loyalty (Adults Only) Loyalty was inspired by Tsuki, a Puri, and relates to how loyal a Kaju remains to his or her mate, children and friends. This is gained mostly by roleplaying, but also by things such as... when your Kaju breeds, how many of the pups are kept, compared to the ones given away or sold, and also by the actions of the new owners themselves. This stat is important because higher loyalty results in a higher amount of pups with each breeding session, although more perks are sure to come in the future.

People copy. >O)Breeding Rules* Couples can be m/f, m/m, or f/f. * Any two adult Kaju can mate. * Any two berried Kaju pups with full maturity can mate. * Both Kaju must either be pups or adults; an adult cannot mate with a pup. * All Kaju mate for life in pairs of two. * Breeding costs 5K total, which can be split however between the owners of the parents. * Each breeding session uses up a total of 8 stamina stars, and these can be split between the parents or distributed unequally, so long as each parent contributes at least 2 stars. * Both Kaju must have 5 or more Personality Stars to breed the first time. * Both Kaju must have 8 or more Personality Stars to breed more than once. About Offspring* If the breeding is the couple's first, they will probably only produce 2 peaches. * Kaju couples can produce anywhere from 2 - 5 peaches, although owners are only permitted to keep up to 4 per breeding. (The final one would be donated to the Kaju staff for our use, typically a newbie flat sale.) * Hybrid and Mutation Kaju, if bred with Generic Kaju, will produce 50% hybrid/mutated eggs and 50% generic eggs. * The owners of the parents have complete control over the offspring until the pups reach adulthood. This means that they hold the power to take back a pup that may have been given to a poor owner, although they are required to refund that person if they decide to do so. The reclaimed pup may not be re-sold to the public, although it may be given away to a friend or sold to the Kaju Staff for 3K. Selling Generic Offspring* Peaches can be kept for free. * Peaches can be auctioned with a 32K cap. (25% profit returns to the Kaju staff.) * Peaches can be sold for no more than 32K. (25% profit returns to the Kaju staff.) * Peaches can be raffled for no more than 32K profit. If one owner is keeping everything, they get 24K. If two owners are sharing, they each get 12K. If the owners are sharing, but one Kaju is co-owned, the profit is split into 12K, 6K and 6K. If both Kaju are co-owned, each owner involved gets 6K. See?! A perfect, even number each time! [/Geek Mode] (The cap was raised from 16K to 32K on 7/15/04 to keep up with the times. XD)Q: Why is everyone only getting two eggs, and why did your Kaju have more than two?!A: (a) Almost all first-time breeders only have two eggs, as generally speaking they have very few loyalty stars. (b) My Kaju tends to have more eggs because of just that-- she's my Kaju. Breeding is how I can give my friends Kaju and do pet trades without destroying the shop by overpopulating Gen 1s, so I do tend to give myself more than usual. I still stay in the 2-5 limit, though, so it's technically legit anyway. :p Q: I'm breeding a Hybrid Kaju and a Generic Kaju... will I be able to tell which peaches are going to hatch into Hybrid Kaju?A: Yes, since Hybrid Kaju are born from unique-looking peaches, and since this doesn't change with Gen 2+.
