Story: A black wind sweeps across the land. With it come stories; stories of the dead rising, of ethereal creatures lurking in the shadows and feeding on the people. The only city still clean of this deathly fog is Cathe, where our story takes place. Many local and some other, more famous, heroes have gathered here. Some seek glory, others riches. Some wish to protect the innocents still inhabiting the area. What you do, however, is up to you.
In this last bastion of good, what will YOU do to change the world?

PROFILES:
>Name: Sij Alai Played By: CSamurai Sex/Race: Male/Shade (Drow) Age: 34 Job(s): Battlemage, Slayer Disposition: Generally indifferent. At his best, a powerful and loyal defender; at his worst, a cruel and unfeeling murderer. Weapons: Shadow Reaver (claymore), Shade Dagger Armor: Chainmail undershirt Height: 5/5 Weight: 1/3 Appearance: Short, crimson hair, maroon eyes; black trench coat, grey shirt; black slacks, black boots; black, wide-brimmed hat. Mana: Average Fatigue: High Build: Thin Likes: Mercenary work, ale, pubs, slaying Dislikes: Ignorant/stupid/annoying people Skills: Windwalking, black magic, spirit magic, blue magic Weaknesses: Holy magic, rune weapons About: As a Shade, Sij is seemingly unaware of human sorrow or emotion. He is also almost unique in that he is not ruled by his emotions, as are most Shades. While he has no bloodlust, his nonchalance toward slaughter is quite unnerving. Smokes and drinks heavily, as Shades are immune to human ailment. Occasionally sleep-smokes. Bio: His past is truly a clue to the reason Sij acts as he does. Once, he loved a woman. However, she betrayed him, framed him (pushing onto him the blame for her lover's crimes); he was sent to prison. He was dead to the world. He summoned dark spirits, intending to have them bust him out of prison. They tried to possess him, but he controlled them in his body, becoming a Shade. The mark of the Shade appeared as though carved into his chest, bleeding heavily. The wound healed in a matter of seconds, and he escaped. A lake sits now in the crater which used to be the Chai Southern Outpost prison. He was left devoid of human emotion, and he now refers to the day he became a Shade as the day he killed himself.

He was only about 16 when it happened, soon after he began training himself in the remains of his house, while avoiding the undead creatures that roamed about and he soon began to hunt them...One tale states that he cleared his entire city of the foul creatures. Felix with neither acknowledge nor deny this tale if asked about it...He now spends his time roaming the land killing the most fearsome of undead beings and then returning to Cathe only to rest. The only thing that tells of his past are his pendant which is his family crest and his bokken... Personality: Felix is somewhat anti-social and has a habit of shunning his admirers as well as anyone else that talks to him, he fears letting people get to close to him because he thinks it will only hurt him in the end. He is untrusting to most people but won't hesitate to selflessly help someone in need. >Name: Marcus McKian Played By: Skaskea Sex: Male Race: Human Age: 19 Class: Psionicist Appearance: Spirits: Magical Entity: Bethele Quicksilver Entity: Eyes of Envy Physical Entity: Ralakerason ----------------------------------- Transformed state STATS Speed: Very High Strength: Very High Endurance: Average Stamina: Average Mana: Very High Willpower: Low Intelligence: Low ----------------------------------- Height: 5' 7" Weight: 136 Weapons: Longsword with a blade made of pure thought. The blade is capable of moving and growing at Marcus's will. The blade was forged from his most hideous memory and has taken a grotesque shape. Armor: None ----------------------------------- STATS Speed: Average Strength: Low Endurance: Average Stamina: Below average Mana: Average Willpower: Very high Intelligence: Very high ----------------------------------- Likes: Being alone, watching families, memories of before the Black Gale, writing, his sister Mariah Dislikes: The beings that reside within him, the Black Gale (hates with a passion), spirits, annoying people Skills: Psionics, teleporting, some dark magic, he is capable of reaching across the world to contact anyone he has meet with his mind Weaknesses: Close range fighting, physical damage, Personality: Ever since the Black Gale entered his life and destroyed his home village Marcus has become apathetic and broken. He balances between the border of insanity and the border is a very thin one. He has only crossed over it twice and each time has ended with either a huge body count or a village or town being wiped from the map forever. He is a man of few words and rarely will say more than he has to. In his normal state of mind he is easily taken advantage of by women who have discovered he is quite good in the bedroom. (Sorry just had to add that ^^) Bio: Marcus lived a nice life as the eldest son of the village of Lilki's two most important people. His parents were usually away on an important errand and always left him in charge of taking care of the house and his two younger sisters, Maria and Kyla. Though he was the eldest he wasn't the most responsible child in the family. That was Mariah. She always rode his a** if he didn't do something right or he slacked off. One morning while he was "taking some time off" from doing his chores he had a dark and foreboding nightmare about a dark mist blanketing the village and strange creatures living within it. In it he was attacked by a different version of himself. But before the creature could strike him his little sister Kyla jumped in the way and was completely obliterated. A few moments later he woke up to find an angery Mariah bust down his door and drag his a** back out to work. A few weeks later the Black Gale swept through the village without any warning. In the midst of it spirits tried to possess Marcus. Due to his strong will and the aid of some dark magics he locked them within him, but with a large price. He lost most of his ability to feel compasion or just about any emotion for that matter. He also almost lost his sanity. After he absorbed the spirits he went completely crazy and murdered most of his family except Mariah by a stroke of luck. Sometimes the spirits can get ahold of his body and his appearance changes drasticly depending on which spirit takes his body or they may even be released and return to him in after it is finished.

Sij awoke. He dressed slowly, pulling on his battered black boots, fastening his belt, attaching his dagger sheath onto a belt loop. He put the Shade Dagger into its sheath, grabbed his Shadow Reaver, and lit a cigarette, before leaving his shack. He locked the door with a small, black, wispy key, which immediately vanished into thin air. Sij drew in a deep breath of his cigarette, letting it out with an exhausted sigh. Another damn day.

A woman's blood curtling scream peirced the morning air from an inn on the southern outskirts of Cathe. Activity in the streets halt at the sound and the citizens stare at the still building. The top right window of the colored stained with an excessive amount of crimson fluid. The crowd jumped as the front door flew open with an unknown force and a man dressed in a purple cloak and in white clothes floated out. His levitation stopped and he strode slowly down the road as if nothing had happened, people began parting to get out of this monster's way.
Moments later three of the city's gaurds rounded the corner to investigate the disturbance. They asked around about the noise and all people could do was point at the man shrinking away in the distance. The sounds of armor hitting the cobblestone road reached the ears of this mysterious young man, all he did was continue as if they didn't even have an existence. "Halt!" The gaurd in thick silver armor shouted as they stopped only a few feet away from the murderous being. The snow white haired suspect slowed to a stop, slowly turned to meet his pursuer's eyes, and spoke with an eerily soft voice. "It's best if you stay away from me." The mens' eyes opened wide in anger and they unsheathed their weapons. "Who are you to think that we are just going to leave a murderer alone?" His bright red eyes squinted as the more paunchy gaurd spoke. "I am the one who will kill you if you continue to annoy me." He said in the same bored tone. The man slowly took off his cloak and vanished it away from him. A large symbol emblazoned his white overshirt. Two of the three men took a horrified step back. "He's been affected by the Black Wind..." The last one looked at them in a perplexed manner. "What does that mean?" The other two took another step back, now fearing for their lives. "He's been affected in some way by that Black Cloud that has been sweeping across the land." The inane third gaurd laughed and got his sword at the ready to fight this...boy. "I don't care if he has survived through that thing, I'll still bring him in, dead or alive." And with that he charged forth while his two partners charged in the exact opposite way.
As the man raced towards him, Marcus's eyes glowed a dark red color. In a second the man's sword blade snapped off the hilt. Without realizing this the gaurd still jabbed his sword at Marcus's stomach. He stood there dumbfounded at the possiblity that his sword haden't struck its target. He fell back and started to crawl backwards into an alley between two larger buildings. "St...stay away from me beast!" Marcus followed him, his eyes starting to glow a more malevolent color. "Now I shall show you something worse than the lord of hell himself can." His voice was now five different ones, one was his, another was that of a siren's, the third one sounded like a horde of demons, and the last two were just screeches that sounded like words.
Minutes later Marcus left the alley with an apathetic look upon his face. Nothing was left of the man except all of his blood that was running down the walls and forming puddles on the ground.

Sij raised an eyebrow at the scene in front of him. Two city guards were sprinting towards him, a look of pure terror in their eyes. The men bolted right past him, and he turned to watch them flee. As he turned back to the path he had been walking, he wondered to himself what it was that had frightened them. Whatever it was, it would surely provide Sij with some entertainment... ((Sorry it's short, my mind's on other things.))

Marcus continued down the road in the direction the other two had left on, his purple cloak had already returned to his small frame and the same uncaring look was plastered on his face. Off in the distance he could see the two gaurds fleeing in a hastly manner. "Hmm..." Marcus shrugged, too lax to chase them, and sent forth two waves of thought aimed for both of their heads.
Less than a moment later, both of their heads exploded, sending blood and shards of bone across the road. Slowly their corpses fell to the soft dirt road. Marcus only felt slight satisfaction in this, it had been too easy. These common humans were too easily scared and killed. Then his eyes turned to a man who the two had passed. A dark mystical aura flowed off of this man in waves. He also had the same uncaring look that Marcus had. This crimson haired human looked like he could provide some entertainment if he choose to try something against Marcus, but he didn't look very interested. Marcus turned and began walking down the road.

((For the last time... SHADES ARE NOT ALL PALE. Just because you're pale...)) Sij blinked slowly. The bodies of the guards fell to the ground, and Sij saw another man approaching. Was it this man who had killed them? Sij contemplated his next action. Should he bring this man to justice, or let him go? Alek had asked Sij to keep the peace while he was visiting his sage mentor, and Sij felt he could bring this man down quite easily. On the other hand, it WAS peaceful now that the guards were dead and the strange man was leaving. Sij thought about it for a moment. "Hey!" Sij shouted at the man. "You, um, shouldn't do that again." ((Dude... This post sums up Sij's personality like no other.))

Felix stood quietly on the dark street corner, his golden eyes glowing dimly in the moonlight, he just returned from one of raids into the dead lands outside the city... He stared up at the shining silver half moon in the sky before he glanced earthward, the loneliness he felt was incredible and uncontrollable...He growled at himself for let his mind wander into thoughts of the past before he began to walk to the nearest pub...
Felix passed by a man standing next to two dead guards, he didn't stop, hesitate or even take a second glance at the man but instead simply spoke as he walked by. "It isn't a good Idea to stay near the scene of a crime, leads people to jump to conclusions..." He said it a somewhat bored voice as he continued on toward the pub...Though he was generally a good person he never felt it was his problem nor his business to investigate murder between sentient creatures...His only concern was the undead beasts that roamed outside of the city...
