Hello. I've been curious for quite awhile now about dreams and was hoping I could get a more scientific answer than what I've been given. Why do some people (like me) have precognitive dreams? Also, what determines the aspects of your dreams such as color vs black and white? I'm looking forward to receiving some answers about this. Thank you for your time.

Yumi_Girl_Moo Why do some people (like me) have precognitive dreams? Science's answer on this one is easy. There is no evidence of precognition, so the question is null. I personally disagree with the aversion of science in studying so-called "paranormal phenomena" simply because early pioneers in the research failed to establish good study methods, however. It remains a relatively uninvestigated and unstudied question by science. However, using some basic concepts, so-called precognitive dreams are easily written off as cooincidence. Most people dream of something resembling real life and thus it is absolutely no surprise that some of the dream events can paralell both past real life events and future real life events. Likewise, we all have built-in brain pathways for predicting future events and we do this while we're awake as well as while we're asleap. There isn't anything neccesarily precognitive or paranormal about it; our brains are designed to predict future events because it is adaptive for survival. Does that help any? Yumi_Girl_Moo Also, what determines the aspects of your dreams such as color vs black and white? I'm not up on the research here, so my responses are purely speculative. Everything human psych though, regardless of what you're talking about, is influenced by the following variables: genetics, cognition, environment. To what degree each of these plays a role I can't say. I'm not sure if science knows the answers to these yet either.

She lay down on the grass, Looking up at the sky, thinking, it’s all she can do. If she disappeared she would not be missed. She will be gone just like everyone else.
Getting up from the grass, she walks on the sand, looking outward towards the sea. She walks into the water high up above her knees.

As far as I've learned, color vs black & white isn't really relevant. Your eyes/brain are just seeing images as you dream.
I actually don't remember how my dreams turn out, I never paid attention to color vs black and white.. I do remember that I see images, but just not what color they're in.
I think your precognitive question has been answered by starlock
~~~♥~~~♥ Narc Lit ♥~~~♥~~~ The waves softly hit her legs. She looks at the sunset and its yellow-red hues she walks into the sea, farther and farther, opening her arms towards the wave. The water is high up to her hips. The wave comes towards her. She looks at the wave with her arms stretched out; the water starts to rage, the wave hits her body hard. Then the water calms down. The water recedes, then darkness falls, and all goes dark. The sun goes down and the day is done.
I had a question myself about this...
Is it possible to not dream?
dameonmac5918 I had a question myself about this... Is it possible to not dream? I don't think its possible not to dream since theortically you are suppost to dream during each sleep cycle. Perhaphs we just do not remember what were dreaming about.
Some people do not remember their dreams but it doesn't mean they are dreaming. I have friends who make the same claim but in reality they do dream. I know that we understand little about sleep. That is to say, it is understood what happens when we sleep, but why we need sleep isn't as understood, interestingly enough. There have been several experiments where an animal has died due to lack of sleep, but the cause beyond that isn't apparent. I can't remember much about dreams though.
Your brain is always active. Your dreams are usually because your brain is active it gives your eyes and your mind something to do whilst you sleep.
There are people who don't remember dreams, and there are ways to train them to gain some amount of consciousness to remember these dreams. Thoughts are always running through your minds and you cannot turn them off. You might believe that you are turning them off but if you were hooked up to an EEG, you'll see that your brain is always giving out signals, whether they be thought signals or action signals. =3
I thought the state of dreaming was achieved only in deep sleep when the REM kicks in. Maybe it's easier to remember dreams when you get awoke early by something whilst in this deep sleep. Having said that, some people can sleep through anything lol.
I have had some very specific precognative dreams in the past, my family has a history of it (which is freaky). The night before sept 11th in my dreams i saw a plane painted with the ammerican stars and stripes fly into a glass building. That same night my cousin had a dream she was in a big collapsing building. When i saw that on the news the next day it really freaked me out lol.
Hello all, I will keep my response short and sweet, and in respects to my own theories. I myself say that the relavancy to 'remembering' a dream is quite incorrect. I myself say that it is more of a conscience state of mind. To keep it short and simple, two factors are the major pilliars to my theory. One: When 'remembering' a dream, it is quite often people, and myself have this occur when we are about to awaken; Hence would mean that we are merely in a state of dissociation. We are aware, and the parellel occurances we seem to be expereincing is merely a hypnotic so to speak trance, and our sub conscious planting ideas and playing them out. When we wake up we tell ourselves we have 'remembered' our dreams, when in actuality it is a delusion, perhaps a small case of schizophernia. Two: I think therefore I am xd
If anyone would like to further discuss this topic with me in private I will more than happily oblige. Just PM in regarding to the time, date, and area. Have a nice day.
I believe it's possible not to dream,but in replacement of these dreams you may have heard something or instead of an actual image,you see these swirls of color. (At least thats what happens to me sweatdrop ) But I believe when you don't dream it's a inbalance in the cycle,maybe due to stress or sickness.
