So far, I've been a little dissapointed with ff7. Not only does it keep steering itself away from me (long, tumultuous, funny, sad, kiss kiss bang bang, continueing story for another day) but, upon replaying it, it feels really weird. It crosses the border between goofy old school rpg and some post industrial garbaggio thingy. Sad how the worlds most beloved rpg, created the new most hated cliche storys found in every new rpg (the childhood freind, the amnesiac main character, etcetra). The only thing setting this classic apart from it's evil clones (no pun intended) is the fact it was the first, and it's undeniable scope. It was because of those two things that Square became popular. So whadda they do, they go and make an anthology of sequels. And whadda we get? The confusing mess that is advent children (it had no distinct look, no story, and Cloud became Squall, my favorite FF character, so I felt really gypped), the cell phone game, before crisis has gotten horrible reviews in japan (it's still coming stateside though), and the newest piece of crap to be thrown at us is dirge of cerberus.* So far, it's scored mostly underaverage, with horrible controls (using straight up melee attacks get's the job done faster than with guns, iffy camera (sometime's Vincents flowing dreds cover half the screen), and typical missions (escort, kill all to get to next door, etcetra). If of anything, the cutscene's do kick a**, but one last's for ten minutes!!! Why didn't they just make another film!!! And last but not least are the characters (thank you for surviving all that bashing on probably your favorite game, cause now I'm getting to the main part). Most of them are utterly embarressing, but none are quite as alluring/repulsive as Shalua Rui, the handicapped scientist trying to save her sister. This hot mess has one working eye and a robotic arm...meh, I'd still hit it. Point of this thread is to let a new character (who isn't screaming mother, so sad, or get's so angry he charges ata giant dragon without realizing how BIG it is) cause alot of ff7 fans are only into the classic. It's just a breath of fresh air (and please, a little break from Tifa "Bombshell" Lockheart)!!!

*There's still the psp game, crisis core. Sure it'll probably suck, but I'd at least be happy to play as Cloud. There's also the remake coming.

You know, everybody always talks about how Final Fantasy VII is "T3h R0XX0rs!!11!" , and I think it's cool too, but... It's not the greatest game ever created. I personally really liked playing Final Fantasy III. And there are other games out there that are just as good or even better. I liked it, but I'm not one of those crazed n00bs who think they're Cloud or something.. (Don't worry Terifa, I know you don't think that you're Tifa Lockheart)

So far, I don't know much about the psp game crisis core (or was it before crisis, one or the other) except that it's squares first ff psp game. And the anime, last order (you can watch it on youtube), is part of it. Oh, and as for that "tech demo"...turns out it's no longer a rumour, they're really making it!! But it won't be here for a while (I'm talking 2008+ people).

theye did do a ps3 version of the opening CG of the original FF7, but people misstook that it was going to be another actual game. when they found out it wasn't, they've been pushing for a real re-make.

My first ff was II, for the super nintendo, and I still own it. >>;
