Thats right, how dar I have an opinoin about abortion, somethign that will probably never effect me. (Probbaly because I have a girl friend and know many other girls who are sexualy active with their partners)
Yeah, abortion apparently dosn't affect me. So why should I ever consider having an opinoin on it, right? Hey, rape dosn't affect me either, neither does murder, child prostotution, slave labor, the boxer rebellion, the building of the great wall, communism, the My Lai massacre, Abu Ghrab, Bhuddism, Islam, Judaism, Alchehol, Smoking, child abuse, lack of education, incest, beastiality, homo sexuality, bisexualty, heterosexuality, and thoasands of other things. None of that affect me, but i have an opinoin on it...why? Because it affects not just me, but humanity, the course of history, the environment, and health matters.
So, when some tells me i can't have an opinoin on abortion because it dosn't affect me. They're right, it dosn't affect me, it affect all of humanity.

I know what you mean, but dare trying to take that into a debate and you'll get blasted. Abortion is viewed by many as the exception rather than the standard. It really comes down to wheter they view the fetus as "alive" or not.

It really comes down to wheter they view the fetus as "alive" or not. No one argues that it isn't "alive". Everyone knows it is a living thing. What it boils down to is whether people believe it is a person or not.

I know thats why I put alive in quotation marks, because its treated as it might as well be dead.

Whether or not a specific subject affects you personally doesn't mean you can't have an opinion on it. And to tell someone they can't have an opinion, is like telling someone they can't breath, that they're not allowed to. Kinda silly.
I may not have a personal experience with abortion, but I do have ones with miscarriages. And how someone can do that intentionally boggles my mind. But those experiences aid in my conviction against abortion.
Situations in life affect everyone and everything. Something happening 4 countries away, can still affect me or my loved ones. So why shouldn't I or anyone else have an opinion??
I think its a good thing for a guy to have a stand on abortion. At least he can think on his own, and has some kind of moral standing in life.

Hakari, I'm speaking spucificly to the women who think I'm threatening them and their rights by having an opinoin. I've met quite a few like that.

Hikari Aijuntani I think its a good thing for a guy to have a stand on abortion. At least he can think on his own, and has some kind of moral standing in life. 3nodding I'd expect any guy worth knowing to have a stance on lesbian domestic violence, too, even though it'll never affect him directly, because I want him to care about other people. And abortion is an issue close to everyone, because everyone used to be a fetus!

It's ridiculous that people who are Pro-Abortion think we're nuts! You had sex, you got pregnant, deal with the consequences! Everything we do in life has consequences. If you're not mature enough to deal with them, then you're not mature enough to deal with the reason why they happened in the first place.
What hurts me the most is that there are so many people out there who would love nothing more than to be parents, but aren't able to have children. Seriously, if you get pregnant, and don't want it, give it up for adoption! Not only are you NOT killing an innocent little life, but you're making a couple somewhere so happy!
For us to promote not having an abortion, we are not belittiling other women's rights. We are promoting the simple right that every other human being that walks this eart has. The right to LIVE! You have the right to live, why shouldn't that child that is growing in your womb have the same?

Every one has a right to have an opinion.. No matter if it directly affects them or not. Males have a right to an opinion because its their wife or gf or whatever who makes that choice. and with his support she will do whats best.

You have the right to live, why shouldn't that child that is growing in your womb have the same? 1. Very few people are "Pro-Abortion" which would mean that they think every pregnancy should end in abortion. 2. Though, I do agree, far too many Pro-Choicers dismiss Pro-Lifers as "stupid" or "nuts" (not that there aren't a few people who are stupid and/or nuts on both sides of this issue). Which I feel is very wrong. 3. I don't want to start a debate, so the only thing I'm going to challenge is "we are not belittiling other women's rights" by saying that many Pro-Choicers feel (myself included) that by denying a pregnant woman the right to bodily integrity (that is, the right to control how her body is used and by whom) you are valuing the rights of the fetus (which at this moment in time has no legal right, though I am sure you are speaking of moral rights) more than the rights of the woman. This is why Pro-Choicers might tell you that you are disregarding the rights of the (legal) woman in favor of the (moral) rights of the fetus, which you believe to be the moral rights that every human should be intitled to (not saying that you are right or wrong, as that is your world view, and I am sure it is correct from your stance).

And abortion is an issue close to everyone, because everyone used to be a fetus! Very good analogy! I have never gotten the "males can't have an opinion on abortion" view point. I mean, not only was everyone once a fetus (as you pointed out) but it takes a male to get pregnant. That's like saying that women can't have an opinion on their male partners getting a vacectomy. Of course they have an opinion! It might not be happening to them, but it does effect them also (indirectly).

moral and legal? all laws are based on one moral code or another. to have all morals equally free would be to make legal murder, rape, torture, theft. everything is alright by someone or else's morals.

In other words: Anarchy. Thats the only way you can have laws that respect the morals and views of others, by not havign them.

exactly. to be truly pro-choice, one must be for every choice possible, no matter their own morals on the issue. or so they love to rub in our face. black cat is a good example- she doesn't eat meat but respects the choice to do so, and the same with abortion. so, what is so different about murder if the only thing which gives value to human life is morality? without morality, all life forms, even human, are no more than groups of proteins. at the atomic level, we are no different from stones. so what makes this clump of atomic matter more important than any other? the power of thought? prove that it exists. surprised
nihilism is a strange concept, but a stumper either way.
