Here he is, my pride and joy, the best Warhammer model I have ever painted. He is a mighty Champion of Chaos Undivided. He leads a warband who have not aligned themselves to a particular Chaos god but believe them to all be worthy of their efforts. He started out as a lowly Marauder living in the North before becoming a chosen of the gods and making a pilgrimage to the Chaos Wastes to receieve his suit of Chaos armour. Over the years he has won a great deal of campaigns resulting in him rising to the ranks of Champion.

This guy is my masterpiece, I have never painted a model as well as this and I doubt I will until I find another model this detailed to paint. I'm really proud of him, so what do the few people who actually come in here think?

I don't know, a long time anyway. I really do have no idea.

Annoying thing with those photo's though is that you can't see the really fine details on him. Like the red highlights on his scabbard or the little rivets painted on his armour. At least you can see a good deal of the highlighting, such as the sword pommel, cape and helmet.

Thankyou. Only problem is, this guy will never be the biggest thing on the battlefield and so people will never notice all the work. Their eyes will be drawn to the big models. neutral

Well thankyou Uma. Most people are drawn to big, flashy models though. (me included most of the time) Which is really why I prefer 40k (the future set game) more. Because my army has these in spades.

Seein those pictures is making me miss the game again, a lot.

Dreadnoughts are interesting models Uma. When a truely great Space Marine is mortally wounded instead of being given the Emperors Peace (bullet to the head) he may be interred within a Dreadnought so he may continue to serve the Emperor.

Between battles the warrior is kept unconcious and is only awakened for battles where his presence is warranted. That rectangle in the centre is the sarcophagus where the body is kept.

I would hate to be in a Chaos (traitor Space Marines) Dreadnought though as it is posessed by a daemon to make it work and the person interred within it is kept concious and is in permanent, excrutiating pain. To represent this on the tabletop Chaos Dreadnoughts have to take a test each turn to see if they go beserk from the pain.

There are loads, and I mean LOADS of books set in the 40k universe. One highly acclaimed series is "Gaunts Ghosts". Never read it myself but it is meant to be really good. It's the most famous 40k novels series out there.

I myself stick to novels with Space Marines in them, I'll be borrowing my friend's book "Horus Rising" when he's done with it. It tells the story of the Space Marine Primarch Horus and how he turned to Chaos, he says it's a really good book, I've read a chapter on the internet and I agree.

Thankyou, I'm rather proud of him myself. When I get a full squad of Ultramarines (the guys I have shown pictures of) done, I'll post them.

They won't be nearly as detailed or flashy as there's not much you can do to basic troops but I'll post them just to show you what the bulk of one of my armies will be made of.

It will probably be a while yet though as I'm a slow painter at the best of times and it will be worse now I'm back at College.
