Alright! Discuss:

-Politics
-US Politics
-Geo-political events

This is NOT a "My political beliefs are better than yours" thread. No flaming!

Respect others beliefs. Just because they're different doesn't mean they're wrong. If you must contest someones ideas, please do so in a respectful manner.

Also, please make sure you know what you're talking about before you post.

Starting Topic: US War in Iraq.

Go!

We shouldn't have gotten in there in the first place. Our economy is in the shitter and it wasn't any political head's fault but Bush's because the only thing Clinton did that badly for the country was cheat on his wife. >>

So Saddam Hussein was treating his citizens "badly". So what? It doesn't constitute a reason for the US to invade and attempt to "liberate". I mean hell, if it were any other form of democracy we would've started a huge war over it. Would the US have deemed the invasion and governmental reformation "right" if it was communism being set in, instead? I didn't think so.

P.S. I don't fully know what I'm talking about, but I'm posting anyway. xD

I agree we never should have gone into iraq. But now that we are there there country is so messed up we have to stay and fix. The only thing going into iraq accomplished was getting bush elected for another term. Its a know fact that if a country is at war they are more likely to re-elect thier current president.

First off, Iraq wasn't messed up. It's been in a civil war since the dawn of time, and will be as long as Israel is. Second, Iraq wasn't even the 'correct' country to invade for the explanation about the entire charade of war on terror. Why there are still American and U.N. troops in the country is beyond me, other than Bush just having a general lack of concern for anyone but himself an his own money.

The country is run by an oil monger, and what do you suppose he went to Iraq for? To build the pipeline through the Middle East to the sea so the U.S. could import more oil. Did you know Brazil has switched over to ethenol, using sugar cane as fuel? They're completely off foreign oil, and have a surplus of money and points from the Kyoto deal. Of course, the U.S. decided that they didn't need to be part of that, and withdrew almost immediately.
