First off, Iraq wasn't messed up. It's been in a civil war since the dawn of time, and will be as long as Israel is. Second, Iraq wasn't even the 'correct' country to invade for the explanation about the entire charade of war on terror. Why there are still American and U.N. troops in the country is beyond me, other than Bush just having a general lack of concern for anyone but himself an his own money.
The country is run by an oil monger, and what do you suppose he went to Iraq for? To build the pipeline through the Middle East to the sea so the U.S. could import more oil. Did you know Brazil has switched over to ethenol, using sugar cane as fuel? They're completely off foreign oil, and have a surplus of money and points from the Kyoto deal. Of course, the U.S. decided that they didn't need to be part of that, and withdrew almost immediately.
