Ok, discussion around here has been pretty slim. I'm guessing part of the reason could be that some members just can't find a thread pertaining to anything they know about, and thus don't post. So I've decided to maybe liven things up a bit, with The Game Alphabet Game

To play, all you need to do is name a game that starts with the last letter of the previously named game. If you are unable to name a game, I recommend just googling a game name and description at that point -- maybe you'll find a cool game none of us knew about
.

Example
Example:

If the current named game is Tetris, the next user would post something with an S, such as Super Mario Bros

If the letter ends in the following letters: q, x, y, z, u, v you may skip that letter if you choose. If you do this, pick the letter that comes before that in the last named word.

Example

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney

Since the last letter was Y, and is a rare letter, you may use the E that comes before it if you don't know any Y games.

But this isn't any ordinary alphabet game. To encourage at least a little discussion, after you name your game, add a little comment about it. Two or three lines is preferable, don't be too long winded, but try to say at least a little more than one line. A brief description of the game is prefered, or how you felt about this game is also nice.

Example
Example:

Advance Wars.

The first GBA Real Time Strategy game ever in existance. Advance Wars featured different "CO"'s with their own unique abilities like special moves that could totally change the tide of battle. It was the first and only RTS I liked.

Of course, feel free to comment on your game, and the previous poster's game if you really want to. If you find yourself unable to make a description of the game, google it or use wikipedia! This is literate discussion, not a third grader's charade of simple stuff.

Finally, if the game's name begins with THE, then it does not count as T. Example: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King would count as L. In this case, the T is skipped and the letter of the second word in the name is used.

Hope this won't be too confusing for anyone, I'll revise the rules to make them more clear for anyone who just doesn't get it. I'll start it off for now.

Ninety-Nine Nights

An Xbox 360 game which takes after Dynasty Warriors in the fact that they put a lot of enemies on the screen, and you make your longest button mashing combo to kill them. Reviewers say it's a bad game, but I feel it's pretty underrated and deserves at least a rental.

Example of a followup:

Super Mario Strikers

A soccer game on the Gamecube best played with a friend so you can talk smack to them. Out of all the Mario sports games, including Mario Kart, this one is definately my favorite.
Ninety-Nine Nights isn't too bad of a game. My favorite character is Inphyy.
(remeber, you don't have to comment on the other's game, but it makes discussion!)

Hope we can have this thread go and save the guild! heart

Super Smash Bros. Melee

This Gamecube game pits Nintendo's biggest names against each other in a contest of might. With characters ranging from Mario to Ness to Pikachu, the chaos is at maximum as each character has their own fighting style (mostly). This is my all-time favorite fighting game and I still play regularly.

(Response to N3) I'm a huge fan of the "Hack-n-Slash" sub-genre. I played the demo of Ninety-Nine Nights (N3) via the XBOX Live marketplace. Aside from the sheer numbers of enemies on-screen at once and the graphics, I wan't much impressed with this game. It really doesn't offer anything new to the genre. I was pretty dissapointed since I'd been following the game for a while.

(Hope this isn't too big)

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

A series of the Tom Clancy's series, Splinter Cell is a stealth espionage game where the player assumes the role of Sam Fisher. Sam Fisher was once a government agent terrorist hunter, but in the next game, he's going to be the terrorist. Of ocurse, the future installment is going to feature a lot more indepth multiplayer mode that I'm hoping will be sweet in addition to it's highly anticipated single player.

I like N3. It took me a few second thoughts to pick it up, and a rental, but the actual game surpases the demo for sure. The problem with the demo was that it gave you a character who's level was higher than intended for the stages you fought in. In the actual game it's harder, because unlike Dynasty Warriors.. the enemies can hit you and do damage. Also stringing together combo's is fun, I find it intense trying to beat my highest max combo.

Timesplitters/2/3 (series)

The Timesplitters games are first-person shooters, with the main focus being on multiplayer gaming (The first two had weak storylines)

The games feature many weapons/characters/locations from different time periods.

They are also my favourite multiplayer game (on PS2).

[Note to OP:
Advance Wars is not an RTS. RTS stands for real-time-strategy, that game uses turn-based.]

Sonic Rush

Sonic Rush is currently the only DS title featuring that hedgehog that everyone loves.. but unfortauntely, it's not a game that most people will love. Sonic Rush takes on both classic 2d side scrolling, and Sonic Adventure 3d elements. Unfortunately, the game is too fast for it's own good.. the DS sometimes has problems rendering the graphics. I'd give it a 6/10.

Halo

This popular game introduced the protagonist, Master Chief, a bionic one-man-army who's mission is to repel the zealous Covenant forces from destroying the human race. He does this by staying one step ahead of the fanatic alien race on one of the mysterious ring-planets (known as Halos). These Halos are massive destructive forces comparable to the Death Star from Star Wars (pretty much futuristic WMD's). The game is probably the first console FPS since Goldeneye for the 64 that was actually decent. The most notable feature of the game is it's multiplayer. It delivered solid deathmatch-style gameplay as well as bringing cooperative play to the FPS genre. All in all it's a solid title and I'd give it a 8 out of 10.

(Let me know if my descriptions are too big. I tend to run-on.)

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

A hack'n slash RPG set in the Forgotten Realms of Baldur's Gate. DA was THE best Diablo-style console game of it's time, before Champions of Norrath of course. The original DA featured a human archer, dwarf warrior, and insanely overpowered elven sorceress. Best played with two players, the game was long and with plenty of replay value. One of my all time favorites.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

(Eternal Darkness is the first Nintendo published game to have received an "M" rating by the ESRB.)

The game centers on the Roivas family and its ties to an ancient book called The Tome of Eternal Darkness. Behind the scenes, an evil force called the ancients has been scheming to harness the power of the book and overtake the world. One by one, each generation of the Roivas family comes into contact with the book, and the game chronicles the stories of them all. There are 12 different playable characters in the game, and their adventures all take place during distinct time periods.
{This game is kinda hard to sum up, so, I'll leave that.}
