We have decided to change the requirements for maiko to become geisha. Earlier we had a system that required going to parties, but this idea has been scrapped.
New Requirements For A Maiko To Become A Geisha:
1. The maiko will apprentice with a geisha. Everyone must have an elder sister.
2. The maiko will attend the neccessary number of classes and be active in them.
3. The maiko will RP at least 100 posts in the teahouse, some of the time with the elder sister. Rules for these posts will be the same as for a maid becoming a maiko: make them of a decent length or it will take more to become a geisha. A short one once in awhile is okay, but don't make a habit of it. Please number your posts in the teahouse. Any maiko that has already begun RPing in the teahouse, please begin numbering your posts.
***Do not make a whole bunch of posts if no one is responding to you. You are a maiko, no longer a maid, and are required to interact with patrons and other geisha and maiko.***
4. The maiko, when applying to become a geisha, will provide 3 (but no more than 5) recommendations from superiors in their okiya, teachers in classes, and/or geisha interacted with at the teahouse. For this reason, you will not want to neglect your okiya while RPing in classes and at the teahouse.
5. The maiko, when applying to become a geisha, will be given a situation and asked to respond to it with an example of their RPing skills.
6. A (short) test will be given when all this is done to ensure that the maiko is ready to become a geisha.

I should have kept my orchid kimono. this kimono is fit for a geisha. May I practice koto instead of shamisen?

Omny How would you aply to be a geisha? In the Hall of Ceremonies Thread, there is a maiko becoming geisha submission form. Fill that out.

ducky687 I should have kept my orchid kimono. this kimono is fit for a geisha. May I practice koto instead of shamisen? This really isn't the thread for questions like this, especially if you're not yet a maiko. You may practice koto, but you will still be required to take the classes.

The test will be given after we are certain that you fufill the requirements to become a geisha.

I have been a maiko for awhile but never have gone to the tea house.
I also don't have an elder sister. How would I get one?
