I'm sure we all have our guilty pleasures of supernatural fiction; be it video games, movies, literature, or any other form of art. After all, we used that as the bases of weeding out those that didn't know anything but popular fiction and trying to force it into a realistic format. Any way where does your fiction expertise lay?

If by "supernatural" you include fantasy, then I enjoy fantasy literature. This is unrelated to my therianthropy, it is merely my prefered genre.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in that first post. I started this related to the fact that we tend to spot gamers and wanna-bes based on things we have as hobbies offline. I read Laurell K. Hamilton and Anne Rice books and can thereby spot when someone foolish uses those writer's version of becoming a "vampire" or "were" as their awakening. I also play White-wolf games so if any of them use terminoligy from these games I can spot them.

Hmm. Not a big Anne Rice fan, but I did like Blood and Gold. Marion Zimmer Bradley is a good fantasy author but I prefer her Darkover series and The Mists of Avalon over her more sci-fi themed books.

Lately, I have not read much fiction though. Books on psychology are mostly what's at my bedside right now, heh. So exciting, I know.

I've always had a weakness for things on vampires, even before I knew what otherkin were. Anne Rice(only her pre-Body Thief books, mind you), vampire video games(Legacy of Kain, BloodRayne), movies... sweatdrop

However, I know when someone is using false terminology. The number of people claiming to have the "dark gift" that I've come across online... *sigh*

EDIT: Oh, man! I almost forgot my favorite anime! I love Hellsing. 3nodding

Hamilton books....ALL PRAISE THE SUPERNATURAL SMUT! yay for werewolf and faerie porn! xp okay so the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series is nifty and there's not much vampire killing infact she ends up having sex with several of the things that go bump in the night

W00t fer teh White-Wolf!!! xd I am the biggest Role Playing geek. I love fantasy/sci-fi. The difference between me and belligerent RPers is that I know that there is a difference between fantasy and reality, I keep my RPGs/RPing to myself, and I really, really, like monkeys.

Lesee, as far as my crap-folklore goes (please, please, please correct me if I make a false statement, I'm just learning)....

~Dragons are entirely fire-based creatures (From the way I heard it, Dragons are associated with other elements, esp. water (the Asian Celestials bring rain, and what about Locchie?!)
~Vampires are dead/undead (true there are the spirits that rise from a recently dead's corpse that feed on primarily loved one(during life)'s etherical energy in desperation to continue living, but I see those as more of Etherical Leeches than anything)
~The only way to kill a vampire is to stab it through the heart with a stake (I don't know about you, but wouldn't that work on just about anything? And what about the sun? I you believe this rumor, then don't you believe the sun theory? sheesh.)
~All fae look like Tinkerbell (Die... just die... or look at the pic I drew of a Spriggan, that'll change yer mind. whee )
~Ghosts are evil and want the same fate to befall you as them (Actually, no, not really. If a ghost is trying to contact you, it usually means it has unfinished business and wants your help. True, there are some really nasty ones out there, but most of the time, they are benign.)

Hmm, perhaps some more will come along later.... Lol, that was the question you were asking, right? whee sweatdrop

Well, I have as much thirst for books as I do for prana... I could lose myself for hours in a Mercedes Lackey book, particularly the "Heralds of Valdamar" series, and I must admit, I find the "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" series strangely appealing. Oh, and... ::blushes:: the World of Darkness books...particularly "Strange City."

I liked Underworld sweatdrop

Lol, has anyone hear seen 'Nosferatu'? It's a vamp. movie made in the 1920's, it's pretty bad. xd
