They were one of the first punk bands I started listening to. I am not too into them now. I think a lot of their songs are repeditive. It's good that they care about politics and stuff but a lot of their songs just seem like, "war=bad" Of course I still support a lot of their causes and every now and again I'll peak in to their website to see what's up, but other than that...

we get into what? but ya, i know what dagmar is saying, but war does = bad, and they sing about other things as well. a ton of their songs are against war, but some might also have a duel message. like 911 for peace is about unity and how bad war is "i dont wanna die, i dont wanna kill, i dont wanna kill, i dont wanna die, we are all human, its time to prove it" just listen to the song and look up lyrics. like turncoat is mostly not even about war "turncoat, killer, liar, thief. criminal with protection of the law" really the only way it applies to war is when it says killer.

Personally, I love 'em, because of their activism and their commitment. I wanted to get a bunch of shirts of theirs to wear to school (Especially the Pledge of Allegiance one) but my mom freaked out.

my only complaint with anti-flag is that sometimes they seem a little blunt to me. "well dont believe what they say, because the government is lieing"... my lyrics to one of my songs with pretty much the same message

How can't you know its just a yes driven no?(woah oh oh oh)
How can't you know its just a yes driven no?(woah oh oh oh)
The answer's just a yes driven no!(woah oh oh, woah oh oh)

so ya... big difference... but i still love this band

Wow, feeling outcast in a punk guild? I never thought I'd manage that. Personally I don't like Anti-flag so much, but then again I had them sort of forced on my ears by one of my friends whos taste I doubt since he likes Sum 41.

what i love about this band is how they played at the van's warped tour after they knew how van's has sweatshops all over the place making skate shoes for punx to sell on hot topic, then asked american apparel to sell the sweatshop free shirts.

I also love how i cant actually afford their cds so i have to download them to fight the system. Its pretty cool how they joined a web company so i could pay to download their cd's.

the best definitive thing about antiflag is their lyrics, how they attack the system in every way possible and are so direct to criticize it.

whats also great is that every punk i get know loves them! omg!

EDIT:

from the antiflag records store:

Next, keeping in mind the original intentions of the label, we approached two bands that we felt were socially conscious(i.e. Reagan Squad from Pittsburgh, and The Unseen from Boston). Each band quickly released full lengths on A-F Records.

here's the list of politically concious bands on their label:

The Code
Destruction Made Simple
Endless Struggle
Inhuman
Intro5pect
Justin Sane (solo albums by Justin Sane, singer/guitarist of Anti-Flag)
The Methadones
Modey Lemon
Much The Same
New Mexican Disaster Squad
Pipedown
Red Lights Flash
Tabula Rasa
Thought Riot
The Unseen
The Vacancy
Virus Nine
Whatever It Takes (a side project of Chris Barker, also known as Chris #2 of Anti-Flag)

excellent team to bring out the government. never mind kicking out punks who dont pay for their entrance to the show.

they were good back in the day, but they've gotten a little too commercial lately, not to mention the music's gotten poppier.
