Personality: A fierce buck that keeps mainly to himself, Darkflame is one of the highranking Outriders of Firebringer's Herd. He is known for his prowess in battle and takes deep pride in his role of Outrider. Because of this he can occassionally be arrogant, but tries his deepest to not be. He is also known for "mishearing" orders if he believes that they are wrong or without cause, a fact that his gotten him in minor trouble several times. But otherwise he is completely loyal to the Herd, the Lord, his comrads, and his commanders.
However, his role changed dramatically one day when it was discovered that he was a Speaker. Though he still plays a small part in the role of an Outrider, he now mainly acts as an translator to others. He is thrilled with his new lifestyle, but still misses being a full Outrider.
Though seemingly cold and aloof on the outside, Darkflame is really a warm and caring deer. He still enjoys a romp with the calves everynow and then and has a particular softspot for stories and lore. He can often be seen sitting a little ways away from the calves as they listen to tales at Larn. Secretly, he would like to become a Storyteller once he gets too old to stay an Outrider, though he never tells his comrads that. He's afraid that they will think him a brailah if he does.

Darkflame was born outside of any herd, his mother being an unusual loner deer and his father unknown. He and his mother, whose name has faded into his memory, were only together a short time before she was taken by wolves, being easy prey from a fall. Darkflame managed to flee despite the fact that he was still very very young. He wandered in the widerness for a while, slowly starving, before he was finally picked up by the Outriders of Firebringer's Herd. They took him to the herd, where a doe who had recently lost her fawn to a fox nursed him. She became his mother, and named him Darkflame for his dark pelt and unusual redish eyes. What his name originally was, he no longer remembers, nor does his mother.
He grew up like any normal calf in any herd, listening to stories, playing in the meadow, sneaking into the woods. But at an early stage he was marked out for the Outriders because of his ability to survive, and quickly ascended through the ranks. It was then, about a year after joining the Outriders, that his adoptive mother died of natural causes, devestating him. But he eventually moved on, though he still misses her greatly sometimes.
A little while later, it was discovered that he was a Speaker. He was then forced to drop his full-time rank as an Outrider, only accompanying them on major missions and threats. Though is hurts a bit, he is still very happy with this new role, knowing that he has been touched by the great Herne himself.
Now Darkflame is a handsome buck, with dark antlers and his strange redish eyes. He is often seen crowning one of the hills, watching carefully for any danger to his herd despite the fact that he is no longer a full Outrider. And though he has yet to take any does into his harem, he still fights at Anlach, though not very seriously. This year, though...
