Story:
In the popular desert town of Midgar, there were many things to attract large multitudes of men on horseback: casinos, saloons, guns... And the Sheriff and his motley crew always did their best to keep men in line. All sorts of men--the wide variety of those who showed up. Yet criminals were also on the rise, and a particular one was making his way from village to dell in order to cut down all who opposed him. He was now, reportedly, on his way to Midgar.

Cloud Strife stretched as he walked through the swinging door into the saloon. It was early in the morning so of course Tifa wouldn't be there yet, but Cloud had always been an early riser. Settling himself onto one of the bar stools the sheriff removed his hat and extracted a roled up paper from his vest. He spread it out infront of him, surveying closely the image of a man on its surface. Sephiroth, the infamous outlaw who had graced the wanted posters of many a town and never been caught. Word was he was now on his way to Midgar. This worried Cloud a little, but he had many reliable people on hand to help him and was going to defend his hom to the best of his ability.

Reno, to say the least, is not a reserved man. He likes to be loud and onoxious, and in the thick of things. He loves action. He thrives in moments of disorder.
But this being early in the morning, disorder is a bit lacking. He struts the streets, peering around anywhere for some sort of mis-conduct, for someone doing something they shouldn't. For someone to beat with his law-inforcing batons.

Suppressing a yawn Cloud rolled up the wanted poster once again and tucked it safely away in his belt. It would probably be a while before Tifa came in to work so he took the liberty of sliding himself onto the other side of the bar and bending down to find a glass. It was a little early for drinking, but Tifa seemed to be lacking in anythinng other than alcohal and the sheriff fancied a drink.

The morning was hot and getting hotter, as weary eyes began to wake in the town. A pair of black, shiney leather boots made of care and expense hit the ground with a soft metallic click and a thunk as they dropped off a tall black stallion, coat falling down about his ankles, the new man in town slowly drew a gaze of turquoise around the outskirts of the town that he'd just arrived in. Midgar. He tugged his large, black cowboy hat low on his eyes, certain that all of his easily-recognizeable platinum locks had been tucked up and out of view, the collar of his coat pulled high. He tied his horse up, and as he headed into the nearest casino, he ripped a poster of himself off a wall.
Out of sight, he thought, out of mind.

The sheriff slid back over the counter, drink in hand and retrieved his hat before stepping outside. It truly was a beautiful morning with hardly a cloud to darken the sky. The usual heat had not yet struck and the climate was comfortably cool.
Just the he spotted a certain red head wandering about and grinned. "Reno! good to see I'm not the only one up so early."

He looked up, for he had been staring at the ground in front of him, looking ready to give a sleeping cat in front of him a good kick, but at the words of the sheriff, the cat had awoken and streaked off; probebly to go lick itself, he thought.
And speaking of animals liking themselves, he was pretty sure the sheriff was an extreamly lonely guy. Drinking at the forsaken hour? He must cry himself to sleep.
"Oh, yes. Glad to see it makes you happy." You know what would make me happy? If you jumped into a mako reactor. "What brings you to rise at this hour?"

"Just patrolling" Cloud said easily. "Making sure the rumor that Sephiroth is headed this way isn't just another false lead." He smiled and put his hat back on. "How about you?"

"Ooooh, yes," Reno's voice was airy, conversational, though with a hint of sarcasem. "I'm doing much of the same. Making sure the law of the land is upheld, and all of that." He gave a very toothy smile, fingering the metal policing batons hanging loosely at his sides. He loved his faithful batons, they've never failed him whenever there was a face to beat in. "There'll be no law-breaking while I'm on watch."

He had no lack of cash on him to gamble, slowly making his way through the tables. He had a particular liking for card games, because they required skill more than chance, even if he happened to be quite lucky to the point of causing the envy of others. He liked risks, and he liked the the thought of facing failure..........and overcoming it, instead of going for the surefire win.

A touch of breeze against his back had Kadaj glancing up from the man - Sneadly, or Stubbly, or something as equally unimportant - whose shoulder he sprawled against. A tall figure had just walked past; a man. A very well-to-do man, if the clothing was any indication. Kadaj’s lips curled ferally as he could feel his interest piquing.
He detached himself from his earlier target without a thought and set off after the dark figure. Remembering, of course, to add a little extra sway to his hips. It simply wouldn’t do to have Mr. Strumbly’s attention wander elsewhere - a breast pocket, for instance, where a gold watch no longer rested.
He loved working the casino. So incredibly easy.
