Continued connection trouble.
In other news, I spent the last half hour scraping ancient thermal stuff from my voodoo 5500, soas to mount P3 coolers to it, in the stead of the wimpy little things I wouldn't trust even my northbridge to.
Naturally, four years ago, I would have, but heh, four years ago I wouldn't have wanted to hit 200(!) mhz on a voodoo 5500...
Naturally, I must now post the magic link yet again, 'lest anyone miss it.

EDIT: also, for a couple hours before that I was hacking a P1 heatsink in half to make ramsinks with, that ate most of my afternoon(mostly the filing, sanding, and polishing afterwords, which, naturally, I'll wreck tomorrow)... Tomorrow I have to slice the halves up for attachment to individual chips(oh joy).
EDIT2: also, yay for cheap vintage science fiction from ebay. heart

Comparison, the itty-bitty foreground thing is what was on there in the first place.
I'll be mounting 50mm fans on them, naturally.
All that work and I finally glued the heatsinks on the dual GPUs, I secured the corners with a strong adhesive and spread some artec silver in the middle, seems to be doing it's job well.

nice xeon, but I have yet to see someone mount a monster thermaltake ultra cooler on a graphics card. Maybe when I get an expendable graphics card I'll try it.

Yeah, this is saggy enough as-is, might devise a bracket for it as I don't want to break this one...

Yay for homemade ramsinks.
I did decide not to cut them up into smaller pieces, though(all that filing and sanding to make them shiny gonk ), I'll just get another solution for the chips on the back of the card.
Oh, and the cooler on that P-133 is a duplicate of the one I cut up, for comparison.

The card looks alot beefier with 5 pounds of metal hanging from it, I might not be able to use it in an upright ATX case without additional support, at this rate. sweatdrop

I used a regular hacksaw(well, I started with a dremel, but after a half hour of that, I got kinda sick of it and switched to the saw), then ground the difference away on a grinding wheel, before going to work with a file, then a finer file, then sandpaper... Spent several hours on them, but I think it's worth it, personally 3nodding

I used the old GPU 'sinks for top ramsinks, to maintain a low profile, they work fairly well.

The fans are, at the moment, secured by strips of electrical tape.
The 50mm fans are enough to keep the 'sinks at room temp, so far. 3nodding
Once I can find some better drivers, I'll see how far I can push it.
EDIT: hehe, I just noticed that the voodoo 5500 is longer than the motherboard it's attached to heart

EDIT: for those interested, this card cost a total of $31, shipped, a $26 buy it now and $5 shipping, if I recall...
