I'm sorry if there's already a thread about this in this guild, but, has anybody seen any threads started by pro-lifers, about the pro-life standpoint? Now I'm not trying to encourage anybody to go out and make one, and I know that it might just be that I missed them and there's plenty about. It's just that almost every single thread I've seen about abortion was either started by a pro-choicer, or some one making a comment that isn't really about abortion, but ends up getting hi-jacked and turned into one.
remember, I'm just wondering about this.

There have been some. But not recently, people are straying away from starting abortion threads, they've over done and the same people say the same things.

Theallpowerfull Besides, we're talking about a larger scale of people in the ED. How do you mean?....my only real scale of reference is the ED, as that's where I spend most of my time while I'm on gaia.

Quite possibly the reason is that most Pro-Lifers that care are here and debating among ourselves instead of flinging dirt at the other side.
Whoops. There goes a wad of dirt. stare

That thread's funny. Because all people do is repeat what's in the first post and say good job. And some of these people are hilarious. "I don't care if other people abort, but my wife/gf never will. I won't let her." Sorry, buddy, being pro-choice means YOU don't get to decide that. You can't claim it was your flesh and blood because then that would be admitting it is a human being that is alive and therefore abortions should only be legal in extreme cases because otherwise, it's homicide. Mmm, oh well.

I'd like to add on to this because this makes no sense to me. Isn't the argument whether a fetus is a human being? I guess not. So let's go with sentient. sentient sentient sen·tient [ sénshənt, sénshee ənt ] adjective 1. conscious: capable of feeling and perception a sentient being 2. responding with feeling: capable of responding emotionally rather than intellectually [Mid-17th century. From Latin sentient- , present participle stem of sentire “to feel.”] sen·tient·ly adverb We can assume that definition one is what we need, considering there are some born human beings who always respond intellectually and never emotionally. So we know what capable means. I hope. Good lord I hope you all know what it means. So let's define perception. feeling 1. sense of touch: the sensation felt on touching something 2. ability to have physical sensation: the ability to perceive physical sensation in a part of the body Slowly the feeling returned to his fingers. 3. something experienced physically or mentally: a perceived physical or mental sensation 4. something felt emotionally: a perceived emotion the following definitions were basically the same definitions in didfferent words. Since fetuses as young as 7 weeks have been known to feel pain, they obviously qualify for 3. I dunno about one and two, I'd need more sources than I have at this time. I'll keep looking. As there is so much about the human brain we do not know (and trust me, we don't know jack about the human brain), there is no way to tell for sure whether ANY of these can be definitely applied to a fetus...but it works the other way. We are also unable to prove that these definitely do NOT apply to fetuses...for all we know, they could have thoughts in those tiny heads outside of language, of course, but within the range of perceiving and feeling. So this word is kinda shady for now.. perception perception per·cep·tion [ pər sépshən ] (plural per·cep·tions) noun 1. perceiving: the process of using the senses to acquire information about the surrounding environment or situation the range of human perception 2. result of perceiving: the observation or result of the process of perception After watching the experiment closely, he noted his perceptions in his lab notebook. 3. impression: an attitude or understanding based on what is observed or thought a news report that altered the public’s perception of the issue 4. powers of observation: the ability to notice or discern things that escape the notice of most people 5. psychology neurological process of observation and interpretation: any of the neurological processes of acquiring and mentally interpreting information from the senses [14th century. Via Old French from the Latin stem perception- , from percipere (see perceive).] per·cep·tion·al adjective 1 and 5 apply here. let's look at these. Does a fetus have senses? yes. can a fetus use them? That's debateable. I don't study the brain, I'm no scientist, and I'm not so smart. I admit it. A fetus has brainwaves. Just does. We can't assume its brain doesn't work. What exactly is going on in that brain? Does anyone know? It'd be interesting to look at abortion from this angle, I've never tried.

I think the key word there is conscious. However in that chart Cactuar did she said that animals aren't sentient, which is what I found amusing.

Because of course, animals don't know what they are. they just think they're there and don't think of themselves as selves. At least, that's what I got out of that. except how does she know what they think? Does she have special cow abilities where she can talk to cows?
