How'd you frst get in to punk? What did it for you? Did you used to listen to Good Charlotte but then smarten up? What drew you to punk?
It seems like my whole life I was surrounded by punk music and didn't notice it. My father likes to play old clash and undertones tapes in the car. Up until the sixth grade I was pretty indifferent to them. It was my dad's music, it's not supposed to be cool. In the sixth grade I saw this kid wearing a germs shirt. For some reason I decided to check the band out. I had never checked out any other band I saw on a t-shirt. I think I wanted to impress him. To make a long story short, I got a few germs cds. I talked to people who liked them online and they told me to check out such and such band. I digged it because they weren't afraid of emotion or take a political stance. They said what they thought and if you didn't like it you could go ******** yourself. Too many muscians are afraid of talking about politics unless it's the cool thing that year ( You kids now what I mean. -cough- P.Diddy.) In punk music you were expected to talk about politics.

Hmm, well, for me, all of this started back in 6th grade. I was 12 and what could be discribed as a "tool". I would do stuff to fit in with the skaters. The only reason I hung with them was because I liked their attitude, what skating ment, and other crap like that. God, I hate skaters now. Well, they knew I was the tool, and thus I got a lot of s**t. I was the joke and such. Well, later, one day I pretty much thought "******** them." and stopped hanging with them.

But, I still liked the thought of what they stood for and all of that. After that, in some strange way that I do not know how to describe, I just started with anarchism. Out of hate, anger, bordom, and a love of tagging up my teachers cars (with spray paint, none of that shaving cream crap).

Basically, all my life I've loved punk, I just didn't know it. As soon as I heard it, I liked it, it was just a matter of hearing it. I started actively seeking out punk music when I got my Punx Unite CD. (last Christmas. Yes, I'm a noob.

you know, i dont remember what got me into punk. i guess it was back in 7th grade when i met this one crazy anarchist-vegetarian punk kid. i didn't really think to much about it, so it wasn't untill sum time later that i actually got into the music. and then things went on from there.

It was a growing thing. At first my dad introduced me to The Pouges, The Dead Milkmen, and FEAR. Then as I grew I found out about the Ramones and The Sex Pistols. Then I wasn't like a "Punk" or anything I had just heard the music. When I reached 10 I thought I was so "punx rock" litsening to Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, New Found Glory, etc. and then I saw The bassist of GC wearing a DK shirt. I naturally checked it out it wasn't till 2005 I heard em but from then on I was just kinda liked other stuff and not The "Punx rock bands" I litsened to. Finally My Dad bought me THAW for the PS2 and it had alotta punk music on it. The opening is California Uber Alles. When my dad said cool The Intros Dead kenedys I became interested and then looked up some punk. Then in late 05 my dad showed me Punk Attitude a documentary of punk since I showed intrest. That's where it flew off and I was officially into punk.
Basicly my dad got me into ******** Punk...How badass is that?

i guess you can say ive kind of been growing very slowly since 7th grade. like alot of people at my school, i thought punks were emo goth screamy music people. when we went on a class trip in 7th grade, i was kind of like a little nerdy kid(and i still kind of am, but then i looked like it)so noone wanted to room with me... so this dude who was into punk at the time roomed with me because he had noone to room with, and my only other friend at the time roomed with me too. he let me listen to the sex pistols. i dont particularly like the sex pistols, but it got me curious. by the time i was halfway through eighth grade, i was into good charlotte, simple plan, ******** in 6th grade i even liked avril lavigne and sum 41. it just kind of went from there, by the time the summer of 8th grade came i was into real punk bands, my favorites then who i thought were absolutely like the gods of punk were anti-flag, and rise against. now i realize that wasnt the case, but to this day they still remain some of my favorites. youll find that my ideal is actually more developed than you might think for someone whos only been into punk for a year and a half, simply because i find myself bored quite often, and this may seem a little strange but ill have arguments with myself in my head about certain issues. im just saying now id be perfectly equipped to have a debate with any adult and feel perfectly comftarble. getting into punk hasnt really been a major thing with me, it kind of just happened, and thats it. i also dont call myself a punk because i feel labels cause division, im am me, and i dont care to do things simply because they are punk and the same thing applies to music. but ya this is already getting long so thats the deal with me

Well, lets see if I can remember the last 5 years of my life sweatdrop . It all started when I was 14 and met my old friend Patrick. I was at a bus stop and he was just chillin there. At the time I was a skater, I liked old school hip hop like Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince and Public Enimy and some pop punk at the time like New Found Glory and Sum 41. This ******** had a mohawk, and I thought it was interesting so we just started talking. He was listening to Rancid and I thought they were awsome. We started hanging out and he introduced me to the older bands like Crass, Sex Pistols, Ramones and the Clash. I fell in love with punk. At 16 Patrick committed suicide and that kinda sent everything to a hault, anxiety and depression kicked in and I started listening to some nu metal like Linkin Park and s**t like Disturbed, although I hated how slow it was, but it helped with the depression. By the time I turned 18 I stopped blaming myself and started listening to all my old records, I remember the way punk made me feel, and all the good times Patrick and I had just chillin at bus stops and sparing for change. So here I am now, young, punk and proud, xd .

Hmm I would have to say Fresh out of JR. HIGH, i was one depressed ********.. those were the worst years of my life. Every wakign mometn was humiliation.. everybody made fun of me.. so I would try to fit in with the popular kids, obviously that didn't work. So did that for awhile and realized that s**t just cannot continue..After eighth grade i looked for something different... i discovered Rancid off of a CD i got from one of my friends.. the oddest place for a Rancid song, it was off of a South Park soundtrack.. I must've listend to that song at least 50 times..it was Ruby Soho i believe.. and i researched them and just got farther and farther into punk music.. then i met Brian.. been my best friend since 10th grade..
Now he just went and joined the ******** ARMY.. he is now only talking abotu good things about it.. he's like 100 grand a year and all this other s**t.. if u join I can pull strings for u now that I'm a sergaent or some s**t.. I'm not for that and he has a pregnant gf he's only 18 years old and his gf is 16 and she is one immature girl.. she wants everything handed to her and i just can't believe how spoiled and immature she is.. I could rant forever on this stuff but I would suppose this is not the place for such

Hmm... I guess you can say that it all started in my Freshman year. I was a little gothish kid. Not the hottopic kind, but I'd fancy to say True Goth. I wore my tight black jeans, my black Cure and JTHM shirts frequently along with my converse. I was never into the newer goth, I was a very big fan of Bauhaus, Alien Sex Fiend, London After Midnight... blah blah blah.
So I was dating this very wonderful girl at the time who ended up breaking my heart (we got back togeather later and were togeather for a whole 2 years... wow stare ). But my best mate Alden, I was depressed and I asked him what I should do. He told me to listen to "this". "This" was a mix of Dead Kennedys, Misfits and older Greenday. I never cared for the greenday but as soon as I heard the energy of man with the dogs I was hooked.
I began searching for more of this punk music. I collected cds like man. The Exploited, The Dead Kennedys, The Subhumans, The Casualties, Anti-Nowhere League. I didn't really need to change the way I dressed all that much. I certainly began to wear more color though.
meh, and in october I discovered the world of Oi and in April I got cut in. So yeah... nice progression up the ladder of self respect wouldn't you say? Even though I'm a skinhead I love punk. I hang out with way more punks that I do skinheads.
