Im sorry for this, but i must be blunt. I havent even looked at this guild for 2 months, ive barely been on gaia for that amount of time. I check this place out, and what do i see? Nothing. Barely anythign new at all. No new guilds have joined, no new rules formed, nothing even debated. The only new thing is a tornament, and wat will that do? Im sorry, but this is unacceptable. No guild should be like this. This was a great guild to start out, posts were made regulary, it was flourishing. whats happened. We need to get this guidl in gear. Disscusse ways here i guess.

Don't worry. There's still people like myself who read this Guild daily, though nothing happens.

Pretty much, if this Guild's going to become what it was, negotiations of treaties have to start. Now. Make alliances! Make War!

And don't make war like the GM and the VHEG did - that was horrible.

Well frankly, there has been little reason to come around here. I faithfully check it every day, but find little reason to come around. The tournament I think was a brilliant idea, and when it came around, there was no structure to it, and once dates where established, no one was here to see them. Also, Pakuun hasn't really even seemed to have been around in a while.

We may want to instate a attendence policy, i.e.: Have people check in at least once a week, once a month, ect.

Yes, only two people showed up to the tournament. We are having many problems such as people are not using this guild to solve problems or other things they are doing it covertly out of our eyes.

The problems that I have in trying to get this guild going again is that it's not up to me to get something started.

This guild is meant for inter-guild operations, meaning that it needs for the guilds that are members of this organization to become active in their own way, whether somebody cares to go and post new rules to be discussed or for someone to propose something to happen with the OGC Army.

This means that I have a very small amount of leverage regarding how active this guild can become.

(Also, I edited the deadlines on the signups, whether that means anyone is going to join or not, that's up to the members)

My apologies if it sounded as if I was to insult you in any way by my statement. Though you may be taken aback by the entire thread to begin with.

However, I must come to agree and disagree with you. While the members are the most important part, and without them, there can be no guild whatsoever, the leader(s) must also take part to ensure that the members have reason to stay, and incentive to remain active within the guild. To give members an open sandbox and letting them loose is an inherently flawed plan, I have found, and it is up to the direction of the leadership of a guild that good things may come.

Seeing as this is a guild composed of leaders, everyone should agree with me, or at least see sense in these words. Then again, maybe I'm crazy, which is usually the case. xp

No, that was not a defensive post, that was simply me putting out my opinion.

And I completely understand your point, it's just that I've tried to do things, such as the tournament that two people have signed up for, and I created the rules subforum that nobody ever proposed new rules in.

Any ideas on getting people to actually care about what we do have to do?

Pakuun
Any ideas on getting people to actually care about what we do have to do?

1. Inter-Guild war. Negotiations have always made this place active and interesting.

- Make Pakuun moderate the battle, and make sub-forums for the wars. Might work, actually.

2. Make alliances! Alliances always made war more interesting. Do it!

- Draw out official treaties that look snappy. Everyone likes those!

3. Contact other Guilds! If we can get more military guilds in here, it would be wonderful. Imagine the Lenian Knights (though the wrong century) or a bunch of smaller Guilds - it could have great influence.

4. Make it UNish. Everyone hates the UN, but we all like how cool the meetings are. Give the largest Guilds a 'Veto Power' that can be overruled by Pakuun. (Only three Guilds get the power - Pakuun chooses who, and can change one veto power once a month) All issues in negotiations are put to an inter-Guild vote, with a time frame of three days to vote. If an ambassador, leader, or a subsitute for either does not vote within the time frame, they will be counted as an abstain vote.

Sounds like fun, I'll get to it.

Inter-Guild Wars will be forced! This is a decision made by me on the spot... I will decide who fights who, and this may be a cancelation of the tournament (We'll see about that)

I will personally decide who fights who, I will give you a reason as well, an objective, and a field to fight on....

Now, I really don't want to sound authoritive, and if anybody feels strongly against what I am saying, please feel free to ask me about it. cool

I think that rather than have the largest guilds, or than to have Pakuun choose who it is, we should have a vote every so often, once a month, once a year, whatever, and have us vote on who should be the main three, with the three highest being those three. Am I making any sense?

The three highest be a council that will decide the way the members of the order shall go?

Pakuun, I think every Guild should submit to you who they think their largest enemy is, and their largest ally as they think. Or none at all.

Anyways, once done, you can create a complicated series of battles that somehow intertwine into one giant battlefield. As armies lose, they are eliminated, but can continue to participate in other Council events, and possibly even wage another war to the side.

"The Top Three" should be elected monthly. In that way, it will become a true council and keeps the Guild active with Politics. Though, not my favorite way to keep it active, it would be good to have some way of doing it.

Any comments on this random document I just made?

The Council Document

Article I.
Membership

All members of the Council must be approved members of the Order of Gaian Commanders, having Pakuun's approval. They will automatically gain a seat on the Council.

Article II.
Veto Power

The Veto Power is held by three organizations, which are elected monthly by the Council. They have the power to overrule Council decisions, unless contested by Pakuun. If the veto is played, the amendment to the document is thereby sticken from proposals.

Article III.
Treaties Permitted

The following are possible treaties in the Order of Gaian Commanders:

Alliance: A true, military alliance. If one Guild goes to war, the other is bound to go with it, unless it will break the treaty (which ruins one Guild's trustworthiness)

Mutual Protection Pact: A military alliance where it is only in effect if one of the Guilds is attacked. The other Guild will immeadiatly move to aid its new military ally. If one of the Guilds attacks another Guild, the treaty is broken, making this annoying.

Non-Aggresion Pact: Two Guilds agree not to even touch each other in war. It is one step down from an alliance, however, stating that it is not neccessary to go to battle for the other Guild.

Declaration of War: Exactly what it sounds like. Stating your opposition to another Guild. Normally, it's nice to give reason.

Article IV.
Amendments

This document may be amended at anytime. All new amendments shall be placed at the end of the document, and noted as "amendments" instead of "Articles".

Yeah, I prefer that idea.... skip what I was doing, it was a spur of the moment thing that I never really thought through. I hope you can all forgive me for such a rash action. sweatdrop

As for the document there Nomader, I like it, I will change what was the battle grounds to be a place for the "Meeting Room" this will incorperate the area where all political devices can take place. Anything from a treaty worked out between two guilds up to a guild being expelled from the Order.

Of course, I'll have to amend the document for things such as 'expelling from the order', but for the most part, it should work. biggrin

Well, I also think that on the matter of guilds being expelled from the order, that those who do not retain the activty of their membership, or those who no longer exist, should be removed from the guild. They would of course be warned before hand, and given a chane to rectify this, but I do not think that those who do not use the power given to them should be able to retain the right to use it.
