Why would someone be ashamed of liking a band?

I'm a bit reluctant to say that I like some songs by Panic! At the Disco.
I guess some people are ashamed because of the lack of talent coming from that band, and/or the stereotype of the fans for that band.

I'm kinda sorta really obsessed with various video game songs. Mostly Squaresoft RPGs and early MegaMan games.
BUT YAH MY PEN0R IS BIGGER THAN URS.

Let's see, where do I begin.
I have the soundtrack from Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. (For those not familiar with the series, Ace Combat is a Flight Combat Simulator series.) The soundtrack is surprisingly good for the game. Normally FCS don't have good soundtracks, but this one kicks a lot of a**. Favorite songs off of it would have to be First Flight, and The Unsung War/Blurry (yes, the Puddle of Mudd song).
I also have soundtracks to Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness, Legend of Mana, Legend Of Zelda Ocarina of Time, some Invader Zim music, and some other stuff that I can't think of right now.
I still tend to listen to a lot of rock music, like SR-71, Flogging Molly, and other bands of that nature. I guess the only reason I ashamed of that is because everyone in high school knew me as THE guy that listened to REAL metal. So I felt awkward when I was listening to rock music, because everyone had just expected me to listen to metal all the time. I'm over that though, now.
My first concert was the Family Values Tour of 2001. And I admit, I loved it. I got to see Deadsy, Static-X, Staind, Linkin Park, and Stone Temple Pilots. Favorite acts were Static-X and Linkin Park. That was when I thought a lot of that stuff was REALLY heavy music. I grew up listening to oldies, so I thought that anything with heavily distorted guitars was metal.
Okay, that's a lot of stuff to admit, and that's probably just the tip of the iceberg right now. I'm sure I'll think of more to add later.
