Vegan. More healthy, ethical, and better for the economy as well as the enviroment.
i have to disagree with this statement...
meat is full of protein and there is nothing wrong with eating it in the right amounts and in the correct manner.
We are slaughtering thousands maybe millions of cows for our own good as well as other animals to help the human race sustain life. i can see where that might be wrong. "Ethics (from the Ancient Greek ἠθικός or "ethikos" meaning "Theory of living") is one of the five major branches of philosophy, which attempts to understand the nature of morality; to distinguish that which is right from that which is wrong." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethics). define ethics for you please. your ethics might be different from mine from situation to situation
being vegan is better for the economy?
that is sooooo wrong.. ive throughly (debatable) studied economics and i can tell you that meat is a key part of the global economy. entire nations make huge amounts of money on meat and meat products. businesses rely on meat. meat is money. not that vegitables arent money because they are but meat, fruit, dairy all of that makes a huge amount of money for millions of people. some cultures make meat a big part of their diet. to say that not having meat or being vegan is better for the economy is slightly ignorant.
as for vegan being better for being better for the environment. there might be some legitamacy to that. meat makes us mad in trying to find more land to try and develop for the production and creation of meat and places to raise the animals. rainforests are being destroyed to make room for new farm lands for the raising of cattle. ironically when the forests are destroyed the nuitrients are taken from the earth and the land becomes close to useless in most cases. better for the world ecologically i can agree with.
read the book "Ishmael" if you are interested in this. pretty interesting stuff and puts a different perspective on things. it brings up the ethical and environmental issues with humankind
1: Meat does have tons of protein. To be exact, too much. The average human child's body needs about 45 grams of protein (a tad more or less depending on gender) through the stage of puberty. If you eat peanut butter or any other nut, bean, or grain products, you're already getting more then enough protein. And yes there is something wrong with eating small amounts, unless the cow was wild and lived years ago before any traces of pollution were to be found. Seriouslly, look up "heart disease.".
2: I don't see how slaughtering animals is keeping humans alive. If perhaps you mean animals tested in labratorys, then that's just keeping the population up, which is a bad thing.
3: I didn't need money wise, because the starving people in Africa don't have money. I mean food wise. Most of the cows that are bred now are bred for meat, female cows going from one pregnency to another, having unatural amounts of cows means an unatural amount of cow food, food that can be used to feed the hungry, imported food that has to be sold for a lower price because there has to be more of it.
4: I'll look into that book, it sounds interesting.
