I think the parents might be bluffing. Wedding's cost a lot of money, and anyways, she's too young to get married. She must atleast be 18 in the US to get married. And they must also take into consideration if they were to get a divorce, how much would end up coming out of thier pockets. PLUS, she could always say no. She cannot be forced to get married to someone. When the preacher askes if she will take him to be her lawfully wedded husband, she can say no. Hopefully, this will give both you and youe friend some comfert.

Your friend could contact social services, to see if she has any rights to fight them on this topic. They might not take her away, and just give her help. This also might be a matter of religion, with the lose of virginity, would then be marrige to that person. In my opinion, forces marrige, is just like slavery. I can see where the guy would be all for this, because in this case, he would have the control in this relationship. She should talk to him, and say it's over. The parents couldn't do anything about them getting a divorce.

Yeah. If she doesn't want to get married, then she doesn't have to. It's unlegal to force her to marry someone she doesn't want to. Though, it IS legal to marry if you're under 18, if you have parental concent (just a little note). All I can say is that you need to have her tell her parents straight up, "No, I'm not going to marry. Period. End of discussion." Her parents might be pissed, but they can't force her. o:
