Well, that's a complexed question, but being a heterosexual male needless to say that my preference doesn't lean toward malexmale relationships. That being said, of course I don't mind the default malexfemale pairing but as a male my interests is naturally going to lean toward the female characters...and whats better than one cute female character? Two cute female characters and it just makes it more appealing that they're in love.
Anyways thats what draws me anyway.

Well, I guess it just rocks me like a hurricane I guess. See, at first it was just because I was a pervert. Then, I went deeper into it.
A girl that chooses to love a woman has to go beyond the normal terms of love. When a male and a female fall in love, there maybe a little disagreement from the people and parents, but that is only if they feel like they are surprised they're a couple, and for parents it's human nature.
However, if a girl falls in love with another girl, a whirlwind of emotion and questions comes up. "Is she a lesbian, too?" Not only that, but if the person she loves is a long time friend, she might ask, "If she's not, then what will happen to our friendship?" If she loves her best friend, and she doesn't love her the same way she does, then it is going to be awkward just meeting each other again. So, the one who loves her may just keep it inside, rather having them as good friends than risking their friendship and let her true feelings out.
And even the first question is answered with a yes, and she is also in love with you, this next question comes about. "What will the people think... Not only that, but my friends and family? Will they accept me and my girlfriend? Or will they hate and reject us?"
To go against the commonly made Male/Female coupling and to choose someone of the same sex as your partner because you truly love her more than anything in the world, despite what the others may say, that takes a lot of courage and a hell of a lot more heart to do. That's why I guess I'm into Shoujo-Ai along with Shonen-Ai.
Don't get me wrong, I like M/F along with F/F and M/M, but just saying... And I'm not saying that M/F has it easier than F/F and M/M, all three have their own share of problems, although each group has different problems all three groups may have in common, or are lone to that soul group.
I got one last thing to say,

personally, I don't know >.> its like asking me why I have a gaia account, I just do. At first it was the Yuri hentai stuff (I'll never forget the first yuri picture I saw, Ayane and Kasumi from Dead Or Alive), then I got more into Shoujo-Ai by reading fanfics and stuff

Hmmm... I guess it's because of the unconventionality of the relationship itself. As far as the average [American] person is concerned, same-sex relationships in general is just flat-out craziness. As you all know, he mere thought is blasphemy, or so says some. neutral
I admit I have an extremely soft spot for "cute" things, homosexuality being one of them (others include Chao, Pikachu, and certain avis on this site). And being a heterosexual male, quite naturally I'm gonna lean moreso towards the "omg too female kissin iz kewl" option. razz

My first reason is... its really hot, so....yeah. But the other reason is that i support gay marriage, people have the right to get married if their gay. Why? CAUSE IT'S FRICKIN AMERICA!!! and you cannot deny love

I don't exactly know, but I think it came with the Shonen-Ai stuff.. And that came with questioning my sexuality. o_o I have a taste for anything romantic. The more obstacles a couple faces the better read it is. For the most part that's true. I love the Hetero relationships too.. it's just what Jhay-R said, they have a tendancy to have more problems.. x_x It's not entirely that. Maybe it's that the more they can be together.. the more hope I see for humanity. When it comes to accepting eachother anyways. ^^; Even if it's just two people..

I don't know... I mean besides the obvious arousal from two girls together I guess they'res various reasons. For one, growing up in today's modern world you hear so much about straight relationships that sometimes it's refreshing to hear about girlxgirl or guyxguy. Another thing is the love seems less polluted sometimes... not neccasairly less sexual but less "doing it just because it's natural" y'know? Traditional love is well... tradition. And some straight people make it seem like it being a tradition is the only reason they bother but that's different with homosexuals.

Any type of same sex entertainment is usually enjoyed by a lot of people for a major reason, it's taboo. Yaoi and Yuri (and Shonen-Ai/Shoujo-Ai) fall into lines that in society today people tend not to cross.... and if they do, they go all the way over the line. I mean, look at Queer Eye For the Straight Guy. Honestly... if they wernt gay, no one would really watch the show, or at least not as many people that do. People generally watch it to see what "Those crazy gay guys are up to". Will and Grace would just be F.R.I.E.N.D.S with less characters if they didn't put the twist that "Omg, the two guys are gay and the other female is bi". As much as people say they don't like it, homosexuality is attractive mainly because you're not 'supposed' to find it attractive.
That said, I like Yuri because it's hot. ((j/k))
