Well I figure since this IS a music forum, we might as well talk about instruments. Anybody play anything? I play flute and I was inspired to learn guitar by Adam, Barry, Synyster Gates, and Zacky Vengeance. They're all great guitarist, so I'm trying to teach myself...which needless to say isn't going too well... sweatdrop
And then I play flute. I'm gonna be in marching band when the year starts, and in two weeks, I'm heading off to band camp for three days!
So feel free to discuss:
1. The instruments you play
2. What inspired you to play
3. If you sing, what inspired you to do that
4. Anything along these lines

I'm "learning" the guiitar. Honestly, I suck at it... I also used to play the piano, the violin, and the clarinet (hated that one)... I sucked at all of them... Singing's mostly my thing. Haha. I love kareoke. I really do enjoy singing, and I dunno. I'll just see where my voice takes me. I learned to sing "Our Lives" by The Calling acappella with a sheet of lyrics in front of me because I listened to it so much. I now also have it memorized. The only part that still trips me up, lyrically and noteswise is the bridge, which has also done that... It can be difficult for me to remember the order of the verses and stuff in the song, and if I'm not focusing, I'll tend to forget some. blaugh I am also trying to learn to sing "Never Too Late" acappella with a sheet of lyrics in front of me, which is going pretty well. I can sing it the entire way through... The bridge trips me up, though. Can't seem to entirely get the notes right...

Well I think that you're skilled either way because you can sing. I'm not tone deaf, but I don't have that great of a voice either.
Yeah I'm "learning" guitar, but it's not going anywhere...I have one of those teaching books... scream those things don't work too well...my dad said that he would teach me, but he's never around...

But I mainly sing, I'm in a chorale and a barbershop chorus at school.
I want to learn the flute or violin, but I might start clarinet since we have my grandads old one.

I play flute and I just wanted to learn to play an instrument, and the flute looked kind of interesting, so I bought one and this year will be my 4th year in band... biggrin

darkest_side_of_me I play flute and I just wanted to learn to play an instrument, and the flute looked kind of interesting, so I bought one and this year will be my 4th year in band... biggrin Oh hey cool! This is my fourth year too! It would've been my fifth, but there were too many people in advanced band during 6th grade so I didn't get in... crying but OH well I made cool friends there. And now I'm in marching band...I'm not sure whether to be happy or frustrated...*shrug*

Ahh I see. Yeah you should stay with it. There was some study that people who played instruments were generally more responsible and smarter than others...or so my band teacher said...

I play spicy percussion intstruments! But, mostly zeh awesome drums.
I'd wanted to play the drums ever since I was about yay high *hand low to the ground*
But yeah, point being that I had always really wanted to play. I'm not quite sure where the inspiration came from, I just thought that it was so awesome and absolutely adored every aspect of it.

^^ Ah yeah. I have some friends that play bass and electric, but we never managed to do the whole band thing yet. We've talked about it but nothing's ever happened. So I'm kinda like...meh whatever. School started again today so I don't think we'd be able to do anything about it for a while anyways...
