I've always had a problem in this area. I'm always distracted by outside things and don't really focus on it. I just kind of go along singing the words, but thinking about other things, like a new video game or something like that. But at camp, the band leader spoke to us one day about the subject and he told us that he is really able to block off distractions and other things just by closing his eyes. I did during the next song, Heart of Worship, and it was amazing. I was able to focus on the words and listen to our collective voices and how awesom it sounded and I was able to really worship God.
And since I'm talking about the band I would also like to talk about our band, The Narrow Trail, TNT. They are amazing how diverse they are. They are all above the age 35 except two. The lead vocalist and rythm guitarist is half-Mexican, 5'4", and a dad of two. The Lead guitarist has hair like Taylor Hicks even though he is one of the younger ones. He is huge, like 6'4" and like 300 pounds and he plays better than anyone else I've ever seen, I could go on and on about them and how mismatched they look, but when they get together they play amazingly. It just makes me happy seeing those guys at work.
And another band Mustard Seed, I'll just link you to their myspace. The only songs they have uploaded at the moment are the first two ones they wrote. At the time they were just two members and they have grown and changed and improved since then. So don't judge them too quickly. But I'll talk about them more, I'm too tired to talk at the moment.

And that is exactly how i was brought to the love and wonder of worship. Through my camp, doing the same thing, having it suggested by my choir/theatre teacher/coach. He is the lead vocal and guitarist in a christan band, but no one has heard of him sad ((Rob Carter and the Blue Prints))
There is only up to go for you with worshiping and praising Him now. smile I can't wait to hear more about your camp and time with Him.
((goes off to reminice about her camp days, and when she took God into her heart, and realized worshiping and praising were two of the biggest things in her life.))
