(( This is a 'quest' of sorts... Started in an attempt to draw myself back into the swing of things. If you think that you (or your witch or wizard) could have something to add to this please PM me before joining in. (Unless you've got my SN then just AIM me... Or if you think you've got a right to be here. [those people know who they are] ) Thank you. ))
She had wandered out into the woods to study... Without the wolves. Without Orion. Without anyone. She had wanted to be alone for a bit... To try and focus her thoughts.
Ever since the phoenix appeared in the flames of her candle she had found herself more and more distracted... Trying to discern one thing from the next. It was almost as if every power that was had something to say and they were trying to direct it through her.
Nevermind the fact that there were at least... Three other diviners now, at least?
She had found a peaceful clearing quite a bit of distance away from her home. Imagine that... A clearing in the woods... Said clearing had seemed so perfect for her purposes. It had a perfect view of the sky and all of its sparkling stars as well as flowers; a few of which she had actually reconized as plants that were used in lotions that had calming properties.
Calm... She needed calm.
Sighing, she had flopped down amongst the flowers, hair fanning out around her head as she did so. It was getting longer once more despite her attempts to keep it trimmed. Perhaps some changes weren't meant to be kept...
Changes... Things were changing... Even if she didn't want them to. People were growing up. New witches and wizards were springing up here and there. She had to adjust... Had to find a way to keep up with...
Her thoughts had spun 'round and 'round up until the moment that her eyes closed. She didn't remember feeling tired... But something about this seemed right... Maybe... Maybe she just needed to slumber for a bit.
... ... ...
Days had passed since Trysta had left the house. At first Skye had just brushed it aside as something normal. Trysta had gone to town to stay with Sylvia from time to time without leaving word. Of course, Orion always knew where Trysta was and would often fly back and forth to let Skye know.
When Orion appeared on the windowsill fluttering about and pecking the glass as if horribly worried Skye began to fret. It wasn't like her Trysta to simply up and disappear without telling anyone. She went to town to nose around... She'd asked Sylvia... No one had seen her.
This... This was horrible.
Her search for the day ended in the Black Cat where Darla was seated next to her at a table, trying to coax her into drinking some sort of concoction that was meant to ease the nerves. "C'mon, luv... Just a sip, eh? It'll do you a world of good."
"No it won't... She's missing and it's probably all my fault."

Steven wandered into the Blackcat, frowning heavily. He'd just gotten back from Trysta's house and having found it empty, he'd gotten unusually worried. He had had a bad feeling when he stepped away from the door. He'd gone around the village, asking around if anyone had seen Trysta lately... No one had.
When he spotted Darla hovering over Skye, he was positive something was wrong. He walked straight over, "She's disappeared, hasn't she?" He asked, point blank, wincing as soon as the words came out of his mouth. He probably could have said that better.

She heard Steven's words and, recalling what her charge had told her about his divining skills, she instantly bolted up, grabbing him by the shuolders. "You saw something! You know!"
Then she realized how crazy she must have sounded... And how much she must have frightened the young man. "I... I'm sorry... I just..."

"It's ok, Skye. It was just a feeling," Steven said, frowning. "But I could try casting... And if that fails, scrying. Though, I'm not too good at scrying."

"I don't know where she went... I thought she could've come to town to stay with Sylvia... Or taken off to visit An again... But when I didn't get any word." Her brow furrowed as she found herself sighing. This was just one miserable mess. "I... Still didn't send Orion off to see if Aneiren knows anything about here whereabouts. Probably should..."

Steven gently settled a hand on Skye's arm before pulling a rune set out of his pocket. They were carved on solid Rowan Wood tiles. He gently poured them out into his hands, tossing them onto the table and furrowing his brow at the result.

As a 'diviner' she should have known all of her runes but, all manner of shame upon her, she had forgotten a great deal about many things. She had forgotten how cryptic runes could be. There were many meanings to all things...
Of course, that didn't mean that someone 'untrained' wouldn't jump to instant conclusions the moment he or she saw a rune that was known to mean 'death'. The already pale woman blanched, eyes losing all shine and lip taking ont he form of a pout as she looked towards the young man. "But... Steven... She can't... Be dead."

"Shush, Skye... If she was dead, I would know," Steven whispered, looking over the runes. "Trysta and I are close enough...and with our gifts...we'd be able to tell if anything that horrid happened to either of us," He said, frowning. "No, it could just mean she's lost, too... Physically, mentally, emotionally...or all of them," He said, gently pulling his fingers around some of the runes and pulling them away. "These don't really make too much of an effect."
He pointed out the ones that were left, "Raidho, you've already seen. This is Kenaz. It could relate to several things, but since it's reversed, it's most likely having to do with feelings of exposure and weakness in Trysta's life. This one...Algiz, reversed. Hidden dangers."
Steven frowned heavily, shaking his head out slowly, "She's not in pain. It must be a more subtle danger. There two are positive, though. Gebo & Tiwaz, relating to personal relationships and knowing where your true strength lies. Maybe...maybe Trysta was worried about her relationship...and it taking away her own strength. She went to find the strength within her...and this...hidden danger..."
"We've got to find her, Skye!" Steven exclaimed.

It had been a very long time, Aneiren thought to himself as he stalked through Hawick. The odd-eyed wizard had his sword at his hip and his wand tucked into his jacket pocket. Overhead, Archimedes swept back and forth, ostensibly watching for Trysta, but really more concerned with his wizard. Olwydd had been left behind-he was too young, and the journey too dangerous.
He'd stopped counting the days. He'd stopped even really writing about them. At first he had just worried. Then he had thought. Finally, he had practised. His small arsenal of charms was fresh in his mind, as were Wagner's last instructions on the use of his sword. Jace had been suitably distracted, and...An's frown deepened momentarily. He'd lied to his family, and to his teachers. They would be very upset with him, he decided in a detached way.
He passed the Black Cat at a brisk walk, his lip curling away from his teeth in a very...Jace-like gesture. His hand went white-knuckled around his wand as he drew it. As his line of sight cleared the wall of the pub, he sighted onto his enemy, murmuring a single syllable. The tip of his wand lit, and he marched on.

She was... Inspired... By the young man's energy. She quickly adjusted her glasses, taking on a more determined look of her own. She didn't have a wand... But she had her own resources and she would make sure to use them. "You're right. Let's go."
A slight wave of the hand was given to Darla as she slipped out of the Black Cat just in time to see Aneiren stalking towards... The Shrieking Shack. Whoaboy... She knew she should have sent some sort of word to him...
Quickly, she jumped off of the last step, leaving Steven in the dust in order to chase after Aneiren. "Hold up there, Romeo... Where do you think you're going?"

Aneiren's foot slipped on the road as he stopped in front of Skye. He squared himself with her, his eyes drifting beyond, to the Shack. "I'm going to get her out of there," he replied. "And every second counts." His eyes snapped back to Skye, taking in her appearance. His wand stayed low, but one of his feet scuffed in the dirt, betraying his anxiousness to continue walking.

She placed a hand on his shoulder to hold him still as she caught her breath from chasing him down. "Listen... She's not in that blasted house... Steven said she's somewhere... But not there. We'd all know if she'd be there... There'd be... Signs." She nodded slowly, trying to distract him. "Besides, didn't she promise you that she wouldn't go?"

Aneiren frowned, looking at the door she'd just emerged from, then back towards the Shack. "She promised," he confirmed, glancing at her hand. "She did. But it's a tricky thing." His hand briefly tightened on his wand handle. "What if it's warped even Steven's perceptions? It could be trying to lure us."

"If it's trying to lure us than you're the only one it's catching." She nodded, giving the boy's shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Come now, An'... Surely you've learned something that could tell you that she isn't in that... That shack. Scrying? Hasn't she tought you any of that?" She rattled things off quickly, trying to draw the young man's mind away from the house that could very easily ensnare him.

"All I saw was the dark," Aneiren admitted, glaring at the Shack, still. "I couldn't see anything else in that stupid crystal ball. Just...dark." He gritted his teeth, then looked at Skye. "Do you know, then, where she is? Does anyone?" This was certainly not the cringing boy who'd fled the Shrieking Shack months ago.
