this may sound ridiculous, but i started listening to electronica after seeing the movie hackers. I think Prodigy dropped a few tracks in that movie and i really liked what I heard from them.

Some old Disco track on the radio along with Technotronic's Pump Up the Jam, Sonique - It Feels So Good, Real Life - Send Me an Angel, Robert Miles - Children, ATB - 9pm Till I Come and more. That's how.

Since I was a kid. My dad used to buy me dance music CD singles, although I haven't a clue why, he was more into rock music ... I think it was because I expressed my liking of a remix of "Misirlou" (opening music from Pulp Fiction, butchered by the Black Eyed Peas for one of their singles) that was doing the rounds on radio and TV. Anyway, I went through a long period of not really paying any more attention to it than any other style of music, until I started writing the stuff myself. I found software synthesizers to be much easier to write with than guitars, so I used them more, and started listening to more electronic stuff which was available for free online. The rest, as they say, is history.

Hmm, guess my first electronica-ish was Bjork when she first came out.

At least in this part of the country, an essential feature of the CTY (Center for Talented Youth) talent show is a choreographed glowsticking/stringing show set to (I'm ashamed to admit it) Sandstorm. I took up eurotrance after teaching myself how to glowstick at CTY in '99 or something.

Video Games. The Mega Man series, the Armored Core series, and most noted; Beatmania.
I have no clue why, but I've always enjoyed the repetitive melodies of Electronica and it's subgeneres.

It all happened when I was about 9 and my dad said "Hey listen to this song"
It was Astral Projection by Tangerine Dream. Holy s**t, I was transported... and since then, its been almost all Goa/Psy and Industrial.

Third grade sweatdrop
I was messing around on AOL radio, and found a "dance" channel. I was intrigued.
Many years of listening to dance pop followed >< ...then happy hardcore >< ...then I gave up, and got into popular music again.
I got into electronica again ~2 years ago 3nodding
