I promised I'd write you a little vignette, Cameo. And I did, even if it isn't very good. No title, simply started typing and went with it.
The darkness of the basement was all encompasing, making even the pale gleam of the moon unbearable to his eyes. god, he needed a drink. Needed blood. Needed more than anything to get out of this dank room and breath the fresh air again. but his hands work on as though posessed, occasionally melding together from the excess glue on his hands until he takes the spare moment to pry them apart again. Tiny trees, and small plastic blades of grass surround a meticulously designed house. It isn't a particularly special place, the stuff of modern suburbia, but Daniel is driven to perfect it. Everything must be immaculate, from the tiny shingles on the roof down to the miniature furniture and appliances. All the work done in that same nearly perfect dark. Marius would come yank him out soon if he waited another day or two. Guide him to the vitim that pulsed with the blood that he so desperately needed to wash away the gauntness of his face. He set down the final piece of the model, drifting away from it and towards the door. No need to wait for him this time. He'd go out on his own. Of course he knew what he would see out there. Every face would be boyish and imploring, questioning his every movement even as he drained them dry to stop the voices in his head. "Daniel, what are you doing? Daniel, why do you insist on leaving when I have everything you could ever want? Come home to me, Daniel." On and on, until he was screaming and railing at the sky in anguish and terror. In every light he imagined how they would gleam on those auburn curls, how they had felt sliding through his grasp. So soft. These thoughts would hold him in an oblvious sway as he haunted the streets. Armand, he wanted, Armand. ut Armand had new fledglings to care for now, made by Marius and without a block to stem their mental connection. His feet would carry him until he had no more strength and then he would lie with his cheek against the hard pavement, until Marius came to retrieve him. And mroe and more he came to dread the moment of rescue. Back to the maddening obsession with his models, that sucked him down and down into the bowels of an inescapable hell. Let the sun come and take him for a change. By now he would be running the real hell. And as always there would be the soft, nearly silent footsteps on the very hour ere the dawn, and a hand reaching down to touch his shoulder. "Daniel, you musn't do this." And he would nod...suh a soft touch. He looked up, his eyes in what must have been fevered delerium catching the sight of auburn curls. "Come Daniel. We'll go home." And he was lifted from the ground as though he weighed nothing, a rush of air on his face before being tucked into a satin lined coffin. His coffin. His, his...and another soft touch on his face. Eyes too heavy to hold open, despite his frantic entreaties to see that eternally beautiful face. The lid closed over him, shutting out the painful light of the moon, and the soft and endearing smile that so few truly were gifted to see. "My Daniel, what am I going to do with you?"

The pet writer continues to write.....so long as none of you try to pull a Misery re-enactment on me.
It is a little known fact that vampires have little need to shower. And it remains a little known fact so long as Lestat, incredibly vain as he is known to be, is the sole mouthpiece of the vampiric world. In fact vampire bodies are resistant to dirt, grime, and other such disgusting maladies that plague the human form, making water more of a comfort issue than anything else. Daniel smiled slightly. If he wasn't going to get out of bed then there was no point in composing in his head, was there? Still, it was something. Anything to keep his mind off of Armand. He rolled over on his side, staring at the wall in front of him. Blank at his insistence, naturally. He groaned. It wasn't that he wanted to stay hung up on Armand, and to do that he needed something else to think about, to look at. But the colors of Marius' many paintings had been murder on his sensitive eyes. sensitive from refusing to feed, as he always did when he was absorbed in his models. But he didn't even have those to obsess over any more, did he? Had insisted in a rare moment of true insanity (or was it one of his few flashes of sanity?) that Marius get rid of them all. His models, his supplies, barricade the door to the basement, and no matter how he begged refuse to go back on these actions. Madness, complete and utter madness. And now he had nothing to do but stare at the wall and refuse to get up to feed. And finally, to stare at the wall UNABLE to get up. The soft rustle of cloth yanked him out of his brooding. He tilted his head, trying to see the identity of the intruder without having to actually make an effort. "Daniel." Soft green eyes looked at him with their usual intensity, reflecting a sad and pitying look. "You can't do this. Armand can't run your life." Daniel snorted. "Lestat runs yours." His voice was soft but the point still stood. Even if Louis ran off to have his moments of solitude he eventually came home to Lestat and their home on the Rue Royale. Despite the fighting and the complaints Louis was head over heels in love with his maker. "Uncalled for. And untrue." Louis' eyes flickered away as he said the last part. "I do love Lestat, but I have my own life. I don't fall apart whenever we fight." "Louis, mon cher, you are very possibly the worst liar to grace the face of this earth." A groan from the prone figure on the bed. Would that he could walk, get away from the whirlwind energy of the infamous vampire in yellow curls. "Get out." "Daniel, it's very rude to say such things to your well wishers." All the while shamelessly playing with Louis' hair, throwing him flirtacious glances. "Cher, come home with me. He obviously doesn't appreciate your company, or mine. We know who he really wants to see. The imp." Louis batted his hands away, a look of disapproval on his face. "You're not helping. Go home." "Only if I know you'll join me." He moved from Louis to Daniel, crouching in front of him. "He certainly has you wrapped around his little finger." "Shut up." Daniel's eyes stared through him, looking once again at the blank wall. Then to the covered window, imagining that Armand would be standing here, if he only had the strength to open the curtains. "Get out of my room." "I know when we're not wanted." Lestat scooped the protesting Louis into his arms, pulling the curtains of the window back. "Hush, cher. Flying is a much faster way to get home." He leapt from the balcony, not bothering to close the window behind him. Give Daniel some incentive to get up. Said Daniel watched the whole thing with a passive expression on his face. Slight resentment in him that they had each other. Who did he have but a fickle vampire with two children to look after. And they didn't have the curtain of silence between them. A tear rolled down his face. Him, the forgotten fledgling. Who would want him anyway, when he balked at the luxuries Armand so loved, had a tendency to wander away on his own for weeks at a time, was in truth utterly mad? Not Armand, apparantly. "I could have sworn I was all out of tears." His thin shouldrs shook slightly, and he realised how ridiculous he must look. A grown man curled up in a bed he hadn't moved from in weeks, crying for a vampire ten times his age and half his size. Self preservation told him he should close the window, close the blinds, save his skin from what would be a very painful but not 100% guaranteed fatal experience. It became a mantra, his brain repeating the statement over and over to his limbs to no avail. He simply didn't have the strength. "I can't always rescue you Daniel. You'll have to learn to fend for yourself some day." Marius closed the window with a sigh, knowing Daniel wanted it to be Amadeo preforming this task for him. Comforting him. "I never asked you to rescue me." His words were muffled by the thick duvet he'd buried himself beneath. "I know that you didn't." He paused a minute to unwind Daniel from his blanket prison, brushing hair from his eyes. "You can't go on like this." "Damned if I can't." He allowed Marius to fuss over him. It was the same, he would do this, then leave him to his own devices for several nights before coming to try and coax him into some semblance of living again. And sure enough there was the sound of the door, footsteps...more footsteps? Odd. Daniel listened intently for a moment, before shrugging and closing his eyes. More sleep to drown out the lonliness. Thus he mistook it for a dream, the arms around him. Being lifed and carried down the hall into a very brightly lit room (his eyes squeezed all the more tightly shut at that)...and uncerimoniously dropped into a tub of freezing water. "Who told you that you could lay around and mope? I told you I'd be gone for a few months. Do you even listen to me?" "Go to hell." he sputtered, taking blind and angry swipes at his kidnapper. "Who told you that you could leave before I woke up with no explanation and not even a general idea of when you'd be back? So I'm paranoid. It's not as if you give me any other option, running off to your surrogate fledglings at every opportunity." A thin white hand forced his head back under the water, drowning his complaints and filling his mouth with the liquid. "b*****d." He managed to choke out as he struggled for the surface. "And still you pine for me. Hopelessly addicted, Daniel. It isn't healthy." Armand lowered his own head beneath the water, halting Daniel's watery protests with a bloody kiss. When Daniel ceased his struggling Armand brought him out of the water, resting Daniel's head on his lap and stoking the sopping blonde hair. "Hopeless. What would you do if I ever truly left you, Daniel?" "Die." He said simply, arching into the touch. That head of auburn curls was back in his life, that was all that mattered. He could begin to function again now. His arms encircled Armand's waist, tugging him down dothat their faces were close again. "I'd die without you." Armand humored him with a smile, kissing him again and filling Daniel's mouth with the blood he so desperately needed. "I know." And in truth Armand needed him too. Needed his mad fledgling who depended on him and loved him so utterly. "Love you, you know that." Daniel nodded sleepily, his eyes heavy from the strain of activity on his body and the quickly approaching dawn. "Yeah Boss. I do." he closed his eyes, certain that there would be no more rude awakenings in store for him that night. Armand lifted him again, carrying his burden back to bed dripping clothes and all and laying beside him. Bound by blood and madness the two of them. Inseperable for eternity.
